I urge all people to get a regular check up. The test for prostate cancer is now a simple blood test that my doctor assures me catches it months earlier than previous tests.
It is the same with cervical cancer. The Pap tests are catching the precursor to cancer while it is easy to fix—before it develops into cancer.
The new tests are far better at early diagnosis which means a much easier treatment and high odds of a recovery.
While you are at it ask for a full blood work so they have baseline numbers in case you do get sick or injured. It helps a lot.
I have prostate cancer – but after hormone therapy last August it has been in remission. Had to spend seven weeks at the Saint John Regional Hospital, undergoing radiation therapy last summer, to get this far.
My brother had surgery and treatment for it last year. I hope you are doing well.
I had mine done a few years ago. It was in one day, out the next and I was back to normal after a few weeks.
Actually, the PSA test only checks for enlargement of the prostate, which may or may not be caused by cancer. Because my results were consistently high, just like my father’s were, I decided to have a biopsy to make sure. Fortunately, like my father, I’m clean.
My PSA level have been periodically checked since then and it’s still high, but in a small range.

Because of that & other complicating issues, any attempts at treatment would have been futile & have merely prolonged the misery. He never came home after that, passing away in December, 2020.
From clean blood work to cancer to metastasizing to gone in under a year. F’ing fast, man. My brother has also had prostate cancer & has been treated (a whole other story in itself). It is currently in remission.
