ESPN- NFL, players’ union agree to suspend COVID-19 protocols, citing decreasing spread

The NFL and NFL Players Association have suspended all leaguewide COVID-19 protocols effective immediately, pausing two years of largely successful efforts to play through the pandemic.

Teams received a memo Thursday morning detailing the decision, which was “based on current encouraging trends regarding the prevalence and severity” of the coronavirus.

It’s the first sports league in the US to do so.

  1. Of course they are not playing now, and the spring work outs are a ways away.

I wonder if MLB is next? Why have a vaccine or mask mandate if you are On Strike?

  2. They suspended them to play the Super Bowl, because there were billions in profits on the table. No testing of the players prior to the game, because they wanted the best of the best on the field. No mask mandates for the spectators, because they didn’t want to offend America’s millionaire class.

This entire COVID enterprise has been bollocks from day one. Welcome to the New World Order’s test run. Not a bad start, but they’ll do better next time around.

  3. They watched as every positive test (or to be honest close to every test…. Some might have had symptoms … you know , like in 2019) the player felt fine.

Took a long time for the NFL to realize the emperor had no clothes.

I know of numerous people who tested pos.

    No issues.

    1. Not too many 83 year olds playing NFL.

The average age of those dying from covid is 83. Average age of NFL player is 26. Average life expectancy of a Canadian is 81.5. You live longer if you die of Covid. No?

  4. The Player’s Union agrees to suspend covid? There are experts everywhere.

  5. The coloreds must play their sports ball! Bread and circus is imperative at this point.

  6. Now if we could get rid of the pre game picking of the winners.
In the Super Bowl don’t call any pass interference penalties all game (mentioned by the announcers) then with less than two minutes left call one against Cincinnati (not a penalty according to the announcers) helping LA win at a time when Stafford couldn’t hit the crowd if he threw the ball away.
But we had to have the corrupt cesspool city of LA win, that everyone wanted to win.
Cincinnati was the patsy in the game, which explains the Chiefs worsening play during the AFC Championship game, like they knew what was ahead for the winner there…..
