The democracy that Singh approves of, is not the democracy that most of us conservatives think of as a true democracy. A political party that rules by enforcing an emergency act, to control people that peacefully disagree with it’s policies is not what we would consider democratic. However, it appears to be based on differing points of view. If they are the ones doing the oppressing, then I guess from their perspective, it is an acceptable form of democracy. Those being oppressed would not consider it to be democratic at all. Singh right now holds the balance of power, and he knows it, I would bet that BMW and the expensive rocking chair are being funded by that balance of power. He wouldn’t want to upend that apple cart, would he. The senate will be the ones deciding, and my bet is they will cave to the turd/singh coalition. We are in a slowly warming civil war, and sadly, the breaking straw is fast approaching, and the camel is already exhausted.

      For many years I have always said, that civil war can happen anytime conditions arise to cause it. Most people say to me, that it could never happen in Canada, Sadly, I think I’m about to be proven correct.

  20. I disagree with the interpretation here. Tommy Douglas was a pacifist. I think this was a principled stand whether you agree with it or not. Did the emergencies then justify the excesses of the government at that time? Innocent people were interred in those camps, whole segments of the economy were nationalized. There are a lot of similiarities and arguably some of the problems we have now came from that time. Tommy also voted against the war measures act in 1970. Don’t get me wrong though the CCF and NDP did a lot of damage to Saskatchewan which is why they lose elections consistantly.

    1. Ironically, the war socialism put in place in 1939 would have been something that Douglas would have undoubtedly supported at any other time had the justification been different.

      Wars have typically split socialist movements between those who oppose it because they believe that the war is initiated in order to serve the interests of capitalists, and those who support it because they like the central planning measures that are almost always initiated during the war.

  23. Here’s a sobering thought: every time these people see one of us ranting about their fascist tactics, their cupidity, their divisiveness, they don’t think, “gee, how could I better serve ALL Canadians (or Americans, yes you too) and in the process make myself into a beloved public figure?”

    They’re actually thinking, “how can I make those who oppose my policies suffer MORE, how can I get MORE goodies for myself, how can I drive the wedge DEEPER?” Imagine that for a moment. Imagine what kind of person thinks that way, has done so since at least adolescence, and works tirelessly to put themselves in the position to make those wishes become reality.

    Then realize it’s all true. You ARE ruled by sociopaths, and we really have reached and passed the tipping point. The only question remaining is, what the hell next? It seems to be so light in passing that the true damage, the true distaste, the true enemies of canadians is our very own media. To control any narrative and the people who follow it, is but through the media. If the past events have not shown how mainstream media acts in this unholy alliance with big, controlling and abusive government, then nothing will? People, breaking news!
