I have absolutely no hesitation contributing to a GoFundMe campaign for a legitimate cause.
I used GoFundMe when my late wife sought alternative treatment for endometrial cancer after the standard treatment here in Ontario accomplished nothing. We raised almost $50K and received all of it. When someone “copied” our story and began collecting funds, GFM was quick to shut them down after I alerted them to the fraudulent activity.
The proper response for GoFundMe to this would be to tell the committee to pound sand and release the funds.
