    1. … Big wheels keep on turnin’
Carry me home to see my kin
Singin’ songs about the south land
I miss my family once again
      I think it’s a sin, yes

Well, I heard Mr. Young sing about her
Well, I heard ol’ Neil put her down
But I hope Neil Young will remember
A southern man don’t need him around anyhow…

    2. Neil Young overreached, perhaps because he thought too much of himself, not just an artist, but a virtue signaling proctor; not his call.
I look forward to more covid overreachers getting themselves canceled by consumers of entertainment and selectors of politicians.

Far be it from totalitarians to confront and counter so-called misinformation (giving themselves a pass); lazy intellectuals prefer to resort to censorship. Why don’t counter misinformation with facts instead of censure? Nope, can’t do that, it would out fascist politicians and media.

Rogan and others are eroding the power base of the one size fits all malevolent megalomaniacs and who are none too happy about it.
They have no monopoly over facts or truth or science but assume so and have misled again and again, now outed on vaccine efficacy.

    1. F B:
I’d put up your post for daily winner of the internet except that it has the unfortunate circumstance of appearing right after the audio of Jordan Peterson’s animal rights activist. It still is pure gold.

  1. Now is this kind of backfire would happen to all the whiney cancel culture that would be excellent.

  2. Young: “They can have Rogan or Young. Not both,”
    Spotify: “Your terms are acceptable.”

    I’ve seen the needle
    and the damage done
A little part of it in everyone

  3. The first thing the administration of a liberated Canada should do is lift, forthwith and forever, all Canadian content regulations. Then nobody will ever have to listen to Neil’s whiny voice ever again.

  4. Neil Young attempted a power play and….he lost.

He threw down on Spotify and they punted him.

  5. Young sold his song catalog about a year ago for a $150 million.

Imagine that you were the company that bought that catalog, and now Young is undermining the value of your investment. What would you do? Sue for breach of contract perhaps?

  6. Hey hey, my my
    Neil Young’s off Spotify
    It’s better to sell out
Than it is to burn out
    Hey hey, my my

    1. Wow my respect for Johnny Silverhand just skyrocketed. Well done Keanu I will buy your new Matrix film.

    2. L – That is very perceptive.
Rumour is, he has a Trust Fund, now growing ever larger from foreign “donations”.
Is it another ethics violation, if he fails to register in Ottawa as a foreign agent ?

  7. Test. I think Kate needs to close the italics tag in her main post.

Neil Young needs to realize that not all Corporations, even Tech Corporations are as Woke as he thinks they are.

  8. I wonder how Hipgnosis Songs Fund feels about this move?
That is the British investment fund that bought 50% of Neil Young’s song catalogue. Lawsuit coming?

I really dislike Neil’s politics but I grudgingly admire him here.
He put his money where his mouth was and took the hit on the chin (holy metaphors, Batman).
I wish more lefties would do the same.

    1. Neil’s got plenty of money for a guy with a few years to live. He is just confirming that every thing he ever claims he believed in was just that, a claim, no principles, no actions behind the words. He railed against the USA, but moved there. He rails against the oil sands, but has a collection of classic muscle cars. He does a freedom tour, and writes “rockin in the free world”, but now is begging for freedom restrictions because his sorry drug addled old ass is at risk from Covid. It is about Neil’s emotions, his childlike emoting a poor substitute for thinking, but hypocrisy is most often born from people who don’t know the difference. Emotions are ethereal, ideas hewn from knowledge, experience and introspection are less malleable.
Neil Young is an infantile, spoiled brat, Spotify rightly sent him to his room.

  9. Our musical stars were all well-loved in their prime.

If they had the brains to keep their big liberal mouths shut they would enjoy all that love until the die.

The worst of them, like Neil and Cher and Springsteen who is a special kind asshole etc. All stupid and narcissistic … die with half their former fan base applauding their demise and hating their guts.

  10. N. Young…Looks good on him.

Magnus the/my Cat sings better than him..
I was never a rabid fan..a few songs ok, but for the rest, he showed himself to be an arrogant ASSHOLE long long ago…that he had the balls to come to the OIL Sands and Shit all over those of us working there…?? yea, that went over real well.

Fuck him totally…and that goes for pretty much every so called “celebrity”….w/the odd exception: Keano Reeves & Mark Walberg et all.

    1. Stilgar, In truth, I honestly couldn’t name one of his songs! I might recognize a song if I heard it, but no way would I know it was him. This result looks good on him, I hope he enjoys that big heap of humble pie, after he finishes wiping of the egg on his face, when eating a big chunk of Crow!

  11. The moment an entertainer opens their pie hole up to lecture me, they’re done.
In old Rome an prostitute had more social standing than actor/bard.
