Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.V., declared Sunday he won’t vote for President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better Act, saying he feared the bill’s mass spending and climate provisions may worsen inflation.
“This is a no,” Manchin told Fox News Sunday, “I have tried everything I know to do.”
The West Virginia Democrat’s decision all but dooms Biden’s signature legislation in an evenly divided Senate.
Good news all around.
A lot to process on the Manchin news but, from a substantive standpoint, it's just objectively devastating for the planet. The last best chance at climate change legislation is gone

Manchin is by no stretch a Republican, but he still managed to out- Republican many Republicans.
Cripes, I am not even an American, and I still feel compelled to thank him.
Yup.
Now , what about Senator Sinema .
Good point, John, I was remiss in not including her.
“I still feel compelled to thank him.”
Amen to that. Not castrating US economy and destroying everything great, that Trump’s administration build back again, is truly monumental in consequence. There is still some fight left in the decaying corpse of civilization.
There are at least 14 “republicans” that would cross the aisle in the spirit of “bipartisanship” – and ensuing media accolades.
Yes.
There are 99 other US Senators who would “cross the aisle” for just the right amount and type of “pork” for their home state. Never underestimate what a “scared” or “motivated” politician is capable of (ie. saving his own job).
Xi and Putin just didn’t work hard enough in getting it passed. They will be the most disappointed. Joe is likely confused about the whole thing.
Xi will be disappointed.
Putin will be happy to see that not everybody in DC does what the Chinese and globalists tell them to.
Yes, just because Putin will do deals with Xi doesn’t mean he’s all in with China. An actual shooting war between the U.S.A. and communist China will be dangerous for the whole globe, but there are risks to everyone with that conflict without open war. Putin will be trying to manage things for Russia first, as he should, and facilitate competitors distracting or damaging each other whether in war or other competition.
I would never say we can trust Putin/Russia, but we can rely on them to do what they think is best for them whether they are correct or not in their appreciation.) We need to correctly understand what they think that is in any situation so we can do what is best for us.
Excellent news. Pity that we in the shiny happy gulag cannot count on a palace coup.
Well beyond past the time for an Augusto Pinochet moment. The Ottawa Redblacks’ stadium should be more than adequate, should it ever happen. Not that it will, for we live in Cuck-ada.
Good.
Now:
Remove Joe Biden.
Restore Donald Trump to his rightful place as President of the United States.
Indict Doug and his pet Negress for treason.
Hear, hear.
I’m sure the bad ideas of “Build Back Better” much like the Green Nude Eel will return in January, with many more attempts to sneak it in…
It always bewilders me how politicians think they can legislate the climate. They can’t even get the weather right.
The BBB legislation was/is thousands of pages long. Only relatively small parts of it have anything to do with “climate.” The rest is pork. And other various socialist/left-wing pet causes.
Just be sure that there aren’t any RINO’s in the senate that can resurrect this beast like a phoenix.
Too many in the house already, like Cheny and what’s-his-face on the J6 committee…Munichin… minichin??? Oh! Adam Kinzinger! Boy, was I way off!
You would need to get to moron Level 11 to believe that a massive $3 trillion spending bill could in any way help the climate crisis.
Or to believe that there is a “climate crisis” in the first place…
Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W. Va., explains why he ‘cannot vote’ for the ‘mammoth legislation,’ noting that he’s had reservations since he first heard about it.

The Biden Demoncrats will now go after Manchin with a vengeance.
Throw everything they have at him.
Wouldn’t surprise me if they try to take him down ala Martha Stewart for insider trading.
His best bet would be to switch parties and run as a Republican, considering how hated the Dems are becoming.
Now that global warming scams are stalled in the U.S. and Blackie going ahead with his scams, Canada will be even more disadvantaged. Not that the bought and paid for media will mention that.
Being more disadvantaged could be a feature, not a bug.
All by design.
This wasn’t just a “climate change” bill, it was also a massive social policy bill that would have changed America forever, and not in a good way. The Dems knew that they basically had this year to pass these big, transformative bills, because the closer you get to the mid-terms the harder it becomes, and you won’t find too many Dems in Congress who don’t believe they’re in for a shellacking next November.
Manchin has been around West Virginia politics for a long time; he knew full well that if this passed it would destroy his state’s economy and he could kiss his career goodbye the next time he was up for re-election.
Another Democrat West Virginia senator can take credit or blame, depending on your point of view, for dooming this: The late Robert Byrd, who gave the Senate the Byrd Rule, which is what was used by the Parliamentarian to say no to a bunch of the bill’s contents and attempts to add things to it, such as amnesty.
Here is an interesting article about CO2 and Global Warming… No Correlation.

Here is a speech from Vaclav Klaus in 2010. It is a good entry point to gauge how the issue of climate change has progressed:

When you read this, you see many aspects/mechanisms of population control expressed today by COVID protocols.
Thank God there are a few good men in the senate. Stick to your guns Joe, we’ll welcome you into the Republican party. We could use a few good men…actually a lot of good men.
He’s said more than once he’s a lifelong Democrat and plans to remain that way. But he is part of a shrinking breed: The moderate Democrat Congresscritter, and that number has been going down considerably in the past 20 years.
Plus given the circumstances right now he’s got a ton more power to wield, as seen with this. As much as Chuck Schumer would probably like to give him the boot, that would make McConnell the Majority Leader again and holding the scheduling power.
It’s so pathetic to see grown men and women buying into a Mother Goose fairy tale like global warming so completely that they’ll PissAwayTrillions to “fight” the boogey-man. Or maybe they just want to PissAwayTrillions, and claiming to believe the global-warming fairy tale is just their means to an end? Anything to take money out of the hands of the People!
Getting Joe Manchin to vote “No” was only one third of the battle. There’s half-a-dozen or so Republicans that have to be convinced to vote “No” as well. Then the inevitable lawsuits when Biden just signs an EO putting the BBB bill into effect, proclaiming that when the Legislature refuses to make needful laws it falls to him to make them instead. Which, if you recall, was pretty much just what Obama said back when he was dealing with a recalcitrant Congress. Only Joe will no doubt proclaim that he has a pone and a fen.
Who is this Sam Stein idiot?
I don’t know, but his way of thinking is part of the problem, the non-existent problem, climate change.
