    1. “Airstill” looks like a coffee maker, but recommended by a friend .is available at amazon.ca.Australian I believe.

      1. It works very well. I made fabulous triple distilled moonshine in the USA where it is legal as long as you only use it to dilute your gasoline. Everything ran well on that stuff.

        1. Can Amazon be held liable for the ensuing blindness? You know … like AR15 manufacturers being held liable for school shootings?

          1. just throw away the first 5 drops per gallon in the batch and you’ll be fine. Or so I’ve heard.

    2. That’s the same setup I have. I’ve got my grandpa’s still. Alcohol is easily made (distilled).

My family like a lot of farmers on the prairie made a little hootch. We weren’t on the scale of the Bronfman’s…..rats.

      1. I need to remake mine, blue dye coming out means that the copper is rusting. I’m not sure how poisonous it is, so I’m not taking chances. At the very least, it throws the flavour off. Or so I’ve heard. This is all theoretical, right? No Canadian would ever break the law in that way.

On the other side, having a decorative blue-dyed pattern in the laundry room tube really makes it unique. If I had one.

  1. My son put together a still about a year ago with a bunch of stuff he had laying about along with some items from work that fit into his lunchbox. Think he was out of pocket maybe $60. He turned out some pretty decent hand sanitizer that goes great with lemonade…

It pays to learn a trade, or two…

  2. Guarandamntee that the bar at Harrington lake , Challenger jet on standby and the Vice Regal’s cottage will have a well stocked bar and cellar.

    1. Dear Leader must always have the best of everything wherever he wants, whenever he wants. How else can he rule so wisely, justly, and compassionately?

  3. My great uncle from Sask used to make ‘shine. Got busted back in ’60 & spent a bit o’ time in jail. He never made any after that but every time we’d drop by for a visit (up until the 80’s when he moved into town) he’d disappear into the bush and come back 10 minutes later, brushing the dirt off a bottle. Don’t recall much about the flavour but it sure did the trick. And never a hangover.

  4. I haven’t had a drink for twelve years now. A few years back I saw a display for a single malt scotch made in Cape Breton Island. Have any enthusiasts here ever tried it? It might be a bit easier to get a bottle of that here on time for you Scotch drinkers.

    1. That Cape Breton swill is not drinkable. I bought a bottle there years ago. I ended up dumping it down the drain.

    2. It is horribly over priced….and horrible. I don’t know your preference, mine is Macallan, but even if you like the more peaty whiskies, you’ll hate this crap.

    3. It’s OK, but I prefer heavier peat. Got an Ardbeg tasting as a birthday present, glorious!

Glen Breton is a decent highland style, so lighter and more delicate notes. I’d advise to get a cheaper Glenlivet, I found the flavours to be quite close.

Or if you want something more flavourful, try an Indian whiskey, Amrut Fusion is my preferred. But, dammit, word got out.

  5. Local truck shop won’t have oil until the new year, no oil changes until then they are out. That’s London Ont one hour from Sarnia.
Booze however I have been making myself all year, one gallon jug, one cup sugar , four frozen juice, bottled water, cider yeast, sanitizer, hydrometer and an air lock. I make a gallon for around 5 bucks.
Have a gallon carbonating and two more that will be ready before Christmas.

    1. Ugh. have you ever tasted a bad wine batch that you freeze and throw away the ice? (shudder)

      The flavour is even stronger.

  6. I’ve never tried to make booze, I can never find enough hours in the days to get done all the other stuff I need or wish to do, without adding to the list. I did notice the shelves in the liquor store yesterday were a little thin, I usually get the large economy sizes, but I doubled my usual supply, just in case. Now I should have enough brandy to squeak past the Xmas festivities. 🙂
