Nature- Comorbidity-associated glutamine deficiency is a predisposition to severe COVID-19

The vast majority of SARS-CoV-2 infections result in mild to oppressive common cold-like symptoms that resolve in weeks without long-term effects. Unfortunately, the virus is rapidly mutating into more contagious variants and even a small percentage of the infected leads to an unacceptably large number of fatalities. We may have identified a common mechanism in high-risk groups that confers more susceptibility to severe COVID-19. We suggest a simple nutritional supplementation that could neutralize this susceptibility and restrict the disease to common cold-like symptoms.

Though it doesn’t look like they make any recommendations on how much or how often a person should take it.

    1. Cheddar, mozzarella, parmasan, and cottage cheese are good. Meat, eggs, spinach , beets, lot’s or raw leafy vegetables, beans and so forth. Don’t know about pizza:)

  1. Glutamine’s best source? Well, that would be MEAT!!!! Oh, this is going to get good.

    Can we get someone to do a study to see how many hospitalized Covidites are vegan, and or vegetarian?

      Solution: Eat like I do … like my French ancestors ate. I eat EVERYTHING … fresh. Cooked at home. I suspect the worst COVID cases are due to a diet rich in JUNK food and crap fast food.

      Hmmmm … glutamine -gluten … gluten – glutamine … hmmmm … wouldn’t it be interesting if the mostly unnecessary “gluten-free” craze has caused hundreds of thousands unnecessary COVID deaths?

      1. So true Kenji, a smart scientist on nutrition – whos name I do forget, stated: “Eat your food as close to its natural state as possible. Avoid consuming processed foods on a regular basis”. We make majority of our meals at home, grow some veggies, try to get fresh this and that in food that we can.
        Hubby and I are not overweight nor suffer other health issues as we begin our 60s.
        Tonight its a rack of baked chicken parts, steamed sprouts and rice. Typical of our meals.

  3. Call me when you all figure out that the virus does not exist and that the flu has been relabeled. Show me the isolated virus, anyone? Then tell me just how an experimental drug became labeled a “vaccine” when it is no such thing. Then tell me why it cannot prevent infection, transmission, illness, or even mitigate that illness, hospitalization, or death. Does anyone out there have a functioning brain? damn it I am so tired of stupid people.

    Vitamin D is one vitamin hard to get from food. It is easy to get from sunshine, but with modern life we are indoors and skin covered up, especially in Fall and Winter in Northern America and Canada. Don’t forget Vitamin D supplements. Unsure? Get a Vitamin D test. 20 ng/mol minimum, and studies say 50 ng/mol are ideal to beat the Chinese Coronavirus.

Part of the reason I became a rock musician back in the old days was so that I wouldn’t have a gig that required me to read reams of boring information about nutrition and the science behind it all. We should all know by now, what foods are best for good health …. I have always eaten fresh home-cooked meals and no junk food. I do all my own cooking, so I know what I am eating. I have enjoyed good health so far and I am pretty old now. Oh … and don’t be a fat slob. Learn to eat good diet and exercise and stop whining. Life is what you make it.
