Some of the Conservatives who will be elected do hold conservative values or at least are sympathetic to conservative values, and I think O’Toole is more flexible than Justin. For example, would O’Toole take charitable status away from groups that hold anti- abortion views? Would he push the level of censorship that Justin is planning? I am not an O’Toole fan, but Justin needs to go. Justin is an intolerant bully. He is destroying Canada.

    3. How far do you have to go to sell your party before you give up on the principals that are supposed to differentiate your party from the others?

      Just how much do you have to be “just like the others” before you can get the people to vote for you, and therefore, why would people vote for you if you’re no different from everyone else?

      That’s the argument that seems to go over the head of the author of your reference. Just what exactly are you voting for? Are you advocating some form of deception where you pretend to be like the others only to reveal your true self after the election? That plays right into the “hidden agenda” argument that the other parties like to whip out to brow-beat the cons.

      My preferred take is to present yourself to the public. Your REAL self. The electorate will either accept you, or they won’t, but AT THE VERY LEAST, THEY HAVE AN OPTION TO VOTE FOR. What the Tool is offering us is more of the same, which in effect, disenfranchises conservatives of their option.

      And if you lose the election based on your principles, then that’s it! YOU LOSE, but you lose with your integrity intact. This isn’t about merely winning elections. It’s about putting forth your ideas, and your platform such that you are accepted by the electorate. If you can’t do that, then you don’t deserve to lead the people. It really is that simple! That’s what true democracy is all about.

      Finally, if you do put yourself out for who you really are, then the others can’t accuse you of having a hidden agenda, thereby diffusing a major arsenal used by the opposition.

          There’s no bloody difference between the two, so I say, to hell with “strategic voting,” and just vote your conscience. If enough people do that, somebody in that ivory tower will eventually get the message. I am no longer willing to have my vote held hostage by that arrogant SOB Tool!

  8. CTV news is reporting that, in some provinces, prospective voters next Monday will be required to wear a mask in order to vote. Apparently it has to do with the regulations set out by the landlord who owns the property where the polls are.

    1. In Ontario you can’t go inside anywhere without wearing a mask or face a fine + refusal of service so at the disorganized and plodding advance poll on Friday it took me nearly half an hour to vote.

    3. Actually there are a lot of businesses pushing against these. They seem to have phrased the survey as a choice between passports and closures. That also implies that the passports somehow reduce the incidence if Covid– wrong, wrong. These businesses will lose 1/3 of their clientele and NOONE is any safer.

The only ones who seem to be clamouring for passports are hard left politicians and their bought and paid for hard left journalist pals, who seem to be doing everything in their power to get buy-in from anyone. Hell, that survey of Edmonton area mayors calling for them, the passport was never mentioned in discussions, it was inserted after the fact by the bureaucrats drawing it up, not that many of the mayors didn’t support it anyway.

This is not a sterilizing virus. It will not lead to herd immunity. People who have investigated the issue know this, but most people take at face value that these pseudo- vaccines are like measles vaccines. They are very different.

    1. It was interesting to hear Hopper planned his paintings like a film director and filmmakers “would pay homage to him.” “Pennies from Heaven” may have recreated Hopper’s diner but, for me, the diner in “The Sting” always reminds me of “Nighthawks.”

    2. Agreed. I’m gonna have to give up Sister Wendy after listening to this. TBH … I’ve never quite understood the allure of what I consider a rather simplistic painting – Nighthawks. However, that’s the whole point, isn’t it … stark simplicity … and loneliness. I was blown away by the number of detailed studies and accompanying narratives Hopper prepared prior to his painting. I work in a very similar manner in what I do.

      My daughter took a college Art class here close to home. She had to prepare an analysis of each of a long list of paintings displayed in San Francisco Galleries (mostly at The Palace of The Legion of Honor). The assignment was to express what YOU, the viewer “saw” in the painting. She invited me along to “help” her with the assignment. This trip might have been the closest bonding experience I ever had with my daughter, as we shared with each other what we “saw” in dozens of paintings. We came to respect the depth of each other’s insights and observations. It was a day with her I will never forget. I know she was blown-away by the depth of her father’s observations and understanding as we rarely shared such deep thoughts. And it clarified our connected DNA as two creative spirits.

      And when observing this art … and when watching films … I always remind her that every brush stroke, every word spoken, every camera angle were all planned and designed by the artist. And that’s the FUN of Art … trying to “understand” or interpret what the artist is trying to convey. Art … It’s so … so … HUMAN. Every piece of Art/film/books start as BLANK pieces of paper (or cave walls). In my experience … it is a rare thing to find someone who can actually CREATE something on that blank canvas. Most people are passive observers. Few can CREATE. I do the same thing with music … I love and admire the creative process.

    Now imagine the headlines and Trudeau’s comments if the roles had been reversed and an apparent Muslim had been murdered by a kafir white kid.

    1. This is what I meant by the bureaucratic process. It is a lucrative business. To this I might add that some bureaucracy is required when the City has the great vistas like we have, such as the rivers, the City parks and views of the Rocky Mountains. Secondly, the fact that land values skyrocket where L.R.T. Stations pass through– their plans take into consideration who buys what, and where and, what gets built, in an effort to achieve the highest and best use for said property. I’ll stop right there, but likely some people in the know get first offers in playing the game of politics all the way.
