All food shortages in the modern era are thanks to government, often one tribe in Africa trying to starve another tribe.
And no one calls them out. Bob Geldof got rich from “Band-Aid” along with a bunch of other rock stars, but did they ever do anything besides collect donations and sell lots of records? No. No they did not. Some food and money was handed over to dictators to buy positive media, but the rock stars said nothing when the food was used as another weapon and the money ended up in Swiss bank accounts.

The government will supply everyone with compost? Although all governments are full of Sh!t, none of it is capable of nurturing anything but resentments, envy, grievances, and hatred.
My comment related to in order to be made whole, after a 50% drop in crop yield, prices would have to increase by 100%.
