Conrad Black goes over the party platforms.

Erin O’Toole’s platform is imaginative, but Maxime Bernier is the most impressive leader. The Liberals offer plenty of extra spending but don’t say how it will be paid for.

Bleary-eyed and almost gasping for air, I can confirm to the 99.9 per cent of Canadians who don’t read the platforms of political parties at the onset of an election campaign that they are not missing a great deal in profound thought, stylish composition, or uplifting incitements to patriotic exaltation of the soul. I did not go beyond the Liberals and Conservatives because they are the only parties that have any chance of forming a government, and in any case I protest against the exclusion from the debates of Maxime Bernier who is probably the most impressive of the party leaders and has the best program in many respects. He is being discriminated against by the debates commission.

    (F)or decades, we’ve been told that a vote for the GOP is a vote for “smaller government.” This is repeated both by Republicans, who say it like it’s a good thing, and by Democrats who still seem to think that the GOP is committed to cutting grandma’s safety net.

  2. Max is a Quebecer several of his words might be perfectly true. The so called conservative party does not put their party name on their signs. I bet there still will not be NONE of the ABOVE on the ballot.

    Nobody gives a crap what’s in the Platforms until some twat from the Tronno Brown Star or G&M decides the Cons are going to make everyone use heavy oil to heat their homes or some other lie.
    The Tronno area crowns the victor. If enuff are sick of Castro Weirdeau then a new dick porks the harem.

    1. Vax Passports are inevitable for international travel as the Europeans and maybe some airlines wanted them early on. Canada has little say. I want to travel, so got the jabs.

      They should never be used within Canada. My approach will be to show my vax passport and walk out of whatever business wants to see it, on principle. If lots of people do this, the private sector will respond accordingly, as the private sector does not want to enforce stupid laws.

        I normally abhor it when people take their anger at the corporate executives out on the minimum wage grunts who have no say, but this cannot allowed to be normalized.

    Individual Rights and freedoms,upon which everything is built.

    Not in our fearless “leaders” world.
    They form a Uni-Party of greedy shortsighted parasites.

  8. Again, the leader without a party has the best platform but serves only as a reminder to the CPC of what conservatives are supposed to stand for. I’ll be voting PPC with no regrets as I live in a completely brain-dead NDP stronghold where the Conservatives couldn’t elect Jesus as a candidate against an NDP goat. A Conservative minority will be completely unstable unless run as another NDP government (as per the Spawn’s last two years) but may be fun to watch as the Liberal knives emerge and do-in the Spawn. A Conservative majority, as unlikely as that is, would be like a less corrupt Liberal regime a la Chretien era working with a now completely bankrupt leviathan state. Canada should become 4 or 5 nations but that won’t happen short of total collapse of North America.

    1. I plan to do the same in my “anointed” Liberal riding. I want to see MAX in Parliament (please vote for MAX, all you folks in his riding) and at the next leader debate. He is a real conservative with excellent policies. O’toole needs a firm message from his base.
