What the HELL is wrong with these Australians? Why are they not massively protesting this; simply ignoring it? Are the powers that be going to arrest the whole city if nobody complies? It is lunacy, but you see something very similar in Canada. Why aren’t people protesting the lockdowns we have had? I went to one anti-lockdown demonstration. There were efforts in place to make sure people did not know about it and I suspect It would have been blocked,except for the fact that Muslims were going to be demonstrating an hour or do later in roughly the same location. They would have had to shut down both groups. Can’t shut the Muslims down. Even worse there was a steady stream of people criticizing the anti-lockdowners, from rude shouts to online insults. People think this is about protecting health, and they do not see the creeping totalitarianism. Australia is lost. New Zealand too. Canada next. At least a few places are putting up a fight.

I think the problem is that we are in the middle of our winter and, but our standards at least, it is F. COLD.
I have been trying openly to abuse the rules, apart from being outside I haven’t really enjoyed the experience. The typical way of handling the colder weather when we get wind coming in off the Southern Ocean is to just stay inside till the sun comes out again. We lack the wardrobes to deal with it.
If it makes you feel better I have been going outside at least twice a day and happily smiling at all who go past. I am not checking in via the App (and there is no law that forces us to carry our phones at all time anyway) and I still don’t own a mask.
The really stupid thing here in my state is this isn’t even a proper ‘health’ lockdown. It is a restriction on social interaction. You can still go to the supermarkets (fully open), still collect take away food from the door, are allowed out ‘for exercise’ (walking is exercise – I walk out my door and I am covered by the EXERCISING RULE) and there is a medical clause as well. (remember, Mental Health is a medical concern, so if you feel remotely down you are legally allowed to medically treat yourself with some outdoor time)
I mean I haven’t been fully pressing my luck by attempting to maskless shop at my supermarket, but under their own farced up rules we ARE allowed outside.
Problem is it is so uncomfortably cold at the moment.
I do think there is a significant amount of people pushing the system. Our state brought in QR codes for ‘tracking’ and at casual observance only 60% of people use them. My feel is that since the QR system has been used to track down and lock up otherwise healthy people that even less people are going to comply in the future. If you are not on the QR system they can’t find you to lock you up for the crime of being in the same public area as a ‘case’.
I shall go for a long maskless walk in a few hours if that makes you feel better 🙂

A person making a delivery here requested in advance that I wear a mask to receive said delivery. I had the person leave the delivered goods in the garage. I stood far back but did not allow myself to be dictated to from a stranger, in my own home.

When visiting trademen or delivery people arrive at my door I politely ask them to remove their masks while on my property as I find it offensive. So far, they all have complied and express relief. Most clear thinking folk are sick of the bullshit.
Though our restrictions here have not been nearly so onerous as many places, I also ask delivery and service people to remove any masks. I don’t find it particularly offensive, but I do tell them I think more highly of them if they don’t wear one. Every one has been accommodating and relieved about it.
