About 50 years ago Chairman Mao of China instigated a Cultural Revolution that upended, if not ended, the lives of millions of people, most of whom were entirely innocent.
You might have thought that the powers at be of Wilfrid Laurier University would have learned their lessons after the appalling treatment of Lindsay Shepherd. They appear to have only feigned an apology because they got caught. What has been going on in the past few years is nothing short of disgraceful, with striking similarities to Communist China’s Cultural Revolution:
In publicly “choosing a lane,” and becoming open advocates for freedom of thought and expression, McNally and Haskell knew life would become difficult for them, and it did. In June 2020 they wrote a public letter pushing back against Laurier’s plan to fight alleged racism on campus embed critical race theory systemically in the university that got international attention and exacerbated resentment against them amongst woke colleagues and the administration, not to mention implacably anti-Christian students. Such heresy could not be tolerated.
In short order, the editor of The Cord, Laurier’s student newspaper, offered suggestions on how to do an end run around tenure and guarantees of speech freedom to get “untouchable” professors with odious views fired. Pointing out that professors are obliged to create environments free of “harassment and discrimination,” the editorial advised students to build exactly such cases against them.

“Civil war is Coming” – probably no time soon. However between modern economic theory ,the great reset and the deficit doesn’t matter – hunger could come much sooner than people think. Supply chains have broken. Repair parts for machinery now can take months to arrive and it’s the same for filters for routine maintenance. The idea you don’t need to produce anything of value to create wealth may come crashing down in a hurry and with our so called “transitory “inflation the signals are here. Entitled people may revolt much quicker than expected. The real danger is the result may be a total dictatorship.

People will only rise up when they don’t have food, water, jobs or other basic necessities. History has shown this over and over. All communist/socialist regimes get little public resistance. But since communism/socialism inevitably fail, society collapses and then people rise up.

Bring video recording devices to the hearing and give the inquisitors a public profile they don’t want.
How is it our politicians get caught all the time in their corruption and they don’t get prosecuted?

Years ago the tax funding was at 50,000 per student seat at a University in Canada. It is an industry. Taxpayer funded retirement for every commie ass prof. In Canada. It is also another Foreign Aid and bigtime Immigration bypass scam in Canada.

Having been in the academic system both as a student and when I taught at Armpit College, nothing about it surprises me any more.
If one thinks it’s about the pursuit and dissemination of truth and knowledge, guess again.
BA….back in 84-86, I was one of the Student reps for our Two Classes of Welding Engineering Technology course. My self and 2 others went to the first meeting….and all I could here was the typical BS of inclusion, and we needed to build a kindler more gentle College – what ever the fk that meant. I asked a question during this first meeting in regards to spring Break was literally looked down upon by the up n coming wokeratti as some kind of low IQ twits.
We never returned. SAIT underwent some major changes after ’86 and much of it had nothing to do with Courses offered nor new Buildings being built. Trying to model it after Calgarys other bastion of political correctness, Mount Royal.

While I was at UBC more than 40 years ago, I was my department’s rep at the grad student council meetings. Most of those in attendance were commies or arsty-fartsies, all of whom knew how the real world worked. (I, after having spent 2 years in industry before returning to university, didn’t, apparently.)
Those meetings were, frankly, a complete waste of time.
When empowered people are thinking/acting irrationally and aggressively trying to shit on you & take your livelihood away, you eventually are led to two options: you either give up or beat them down.
As logic and argument is pointless, the obvious solution stands alone.

The communists are in charge everywhere now in the west. The only reason we aren’t full on communist countries right now is that our institutions are so strong that it is taking the commies decades to destroy them. But they are getting close.
Most mainstream denominations of the church went full commie at least 20 years ago. It’s only a matter of time before followers of Marx and Lenin are canonized as saints.

the project was so botched l quit at 4 in the morning and spent the rest of the time hacking a DOS based catalog search computer putting a sarcastic warning people could be electrocuted off the shelves because the wiring was so bad, l spot checked some wire nuts and they were so loose l pondered if they could contact the housing and thus all the rest of the metal.
next day l called their student paper, introed myself and explained my concerns. then l did the same thing with the physical maintenance folks.
never went back. it was called ‘estate electric’ the asswipe running things let a bunch of the crew bounce aroud in the back of a panel van and left umpteem perfectly available and much SAFER seats with seatbelts in his svu wit its *one* occupant. him. the boss.
