  1. Well I agree with most of the points made in this link but you did notice that 2021 wasn’t on the graph, right?

    When it is there will be a large spike there, the only station I know for sure did NOT break an all-time record was YVR thanks to a sea breeze that held it below the 2009 all time record of 35 C. Every other station in BC and most in WA and OR (some coastal exceptions) either broke or came very close to all-time records in June.

    This heat wave is regarded by many weather buffs as being a “singularity” similar in significance to the famous 1936 heat wave in the central and eastern U.S. and parts of Canada.

    But even so, that doesn’t really answer any of the questions about cause and effect. In reality, if you filter out those who just make stuff up for a political reason, the range of opinion is something like this — the 2021 heat wave was a natural phenomenon that may have added a degree or two from the AGW signal, or, the AGW modification has created much easier conditions for a singularity like this to occur.

    It may be one of those things that just isn’t really possible to know for sure, and meanwhile as our governments fixate on impossible solutions that anyone can see will never work, we are losing time needed for more skilled adaptation to climate extremes — adaptation does not require us to know the reason, just the outcome. It could be a natural trend, it could be AGW, it is most likely some combination. A 30-70 combination has different implications from a 70-30 combination, etc. But adaptation doesn’t care much about cause and effect, it seeks to mitigate the effect rather than rolling the dice on preventing the effect.

    A real world example is wearing body armour. It mitigates the effect of being shot, no matter what the reason was for the shooter to take the shot.

    3. Our politicians lack imagination and only want to focus on areas of their own political concerns which they put in massive amounts of financial assistance into.
      They hate to be wrong and willing to defend it to the bitter end no matter the consequences.

      We currently live in an amazing, fantastic time of having so much information available to us by our computers.
      Which our politicians REALLY HATE as we used to be totally reliant on our ‘Governments Appointed Experts’ for information.
      Hence our mainstream media’s fixation on follow their narrative no matter how nonsensical it is.

      If we had a really interest of science by our governments and politicians, we could reconstruct how our planet was created and the mechanical mechanism that keeps it going today.
      They have no interest in this as many concepts and theories would be blown apart and all this education turns to bullshit propaganda.
      So many pieces of this puzzle put together truly is an amazing story of our creation and ongoing evolution.

  4. A great link. I’m surprised to see the 30’s were beat by the 80’s but then saw the regional nature of the study.

    Don’t worry, it’ll be adjusted out of existence soon and we’ll all be able to return to YOU’RE GONNA DIE! unless you cut your CO2 emissions / buy our underwear / convert to our religion / throw a child into the volcano.

  5. To me it is not that it is getting hotter over the years, it is having less of a tolerance of the heat while getting older. And everyone is getting older. So, it feels hotter to us all.

    1. I suspect that that is a key part of the message. Some of these cycles are 60 years in the making. Others 22. When the temperatures (when you’re 70) return to the temperatures of your youth (when you’re ten) then how good of a grasp do you really have on the difference?

      it’s far easier to remember that is this warmer than the last 20 years than to remember if it’s the same as it was 60 years ago.

      Climate has changed for 4.5 billion years. The idea that humans are now the leading cause of climate change is laughable. Unless the claim is that the greatest extinction, of all land-based life, has been delayed by humans keeping CO2 levels high enough to allow photosynthesis to occur at sea level. If CO2 drops to low enough levels then tree-line (the elevation at which trees can survive by photosynthesis) will drop to sea level. When photosynthesis at sea level altitudes ends, then land-based plant life ends. Followed by the extinction of all land based herbivorous life. Followed by most last based carnivorous life (some predators can survive on sea-based life).

      For some reason, the CO2 freeing opponents want this to happen. They’re worried about a thermageddon that has no basis in history, only in computer models. They seem to want life to end, probably because they don’t know enough to make the right choices.

      1. With regard to your last sentence, yes. Environmentalists in general would at least like to see human life end, because they’re mentally ill misanthropes. Obviously most of them have made terrible choices, which is why they’re environmentalists in the first place: they have no creativity, no critical thinking capacity, no talent, and nothing of value to offer. Aimless sheep ripe for recruitment into the cult of Gaia.

        Politicians have picked up on this hatred because as was pointed out elsewhere here, they have absolutely no imagination, and no idea how to address humanity’s genuine problems. Why would they? They’re almost all lawyers, business people, and social sciences grads. And with almost no exception, they have less than zero interest in the welfare of their constituents; they go into politics for the usual reasons, greed and the lust for power. Bastards, all of them.

  6. Been hotter will get hotter, somewhere. It will also get cold and colder , somewhere. Why does man think that he can manipulate everything that exists. Manipulating the masses seems to be the main goal world wide theses days, with millions proving daily just how easily they are lead.

      In a word, because he has been / was tossed out of the ‘Garden’ and can’t come to terms with his expulsion. Because of this man desires to be the very God he can’t possibly be. In his exile man has deluded himself into believing that he CAN control all around him such as life, death, the elements and all aspects of this marvellous cathedral we inhabit known as earth.
      In his quest to be The God of all around him he has only managed to isolate himself more… in fact, little of the natural world wants anything to do with him.
      Man in his isolation has turned towards consoling himself with shiny baubles and other merchandise of little real value while still trying harder to convince himself that these items are in fact great and establish him as omnipotent.

      Well they don’t and deep down he knows this.

      Next step is to continue the ruse and reinforce that belief of yes he is the ‘greatest’ by deciding who is to live and die.

      Man is no more than just a mangy coyote and no matter what the outcome, this will not end well.

  8. I was in Montreal in the summer of 1988 and I remember it was 104 F, I remember it very clearly. I remember when I got home to New Hampshire my pool was so heated by the temps that it had two thermoclines which I could feel as sort of bumps when I dove into it the first time. The whole weekend was about beating the heat.

    Yet no sign of 40 C on this “temperature history of Montreal.”

    1. tim, over the years I have had a few houses. Five of them had east west exposure. The decks on the west side were impossible to sit out on in July and August sun. Temps regularly exceeding 95 to 100 F. My new house has the same exposure and the temps will hit 34 to 35 C. Hot and cold, it comes and goes with the seasons.

  9. All I know are that the present climate is an inter-glacial period.
    As an example, much of the Canadian shield is still rising from the retreat of the ice.
    Mankind did not make the ice sheets leave.
    Mankind might not want them to return.

    Whenever someone goes on about peoplekind making the world warmer just ask them what isostatic uplift is.

  10. Your government is deliberately lying to you. Example:

    ECCC’s major report “Canada in a Changing Climate” shows average temperatures for the nation from 1886 onwards. However, when “maximum daily temperatures” are discussed, they start the clock at 1948, to show an increasing trend. Why 1948 rather than the entire available dataset dating back to 1886?

    Simple. If they were to show the complete data for maximum temperatures, it would show that the 1930’s were much hotter than recent decades.

    This would ruin the narrative.

    Similarly they claim that the Canadian Arctic is warming “2.9 times” faster than the global average. This is a fake comparison of Canadian LAND temperatures to global average LAND/OCEAN temperatures. Oceans account for 71% of the global surface area and are warming significantly slower than land masses.

    This politically motivated “logic” allows activists to say that nearly any place on earth is warming faster than the global average!

    The deception is deliberate.

  11. Temperature “records” are now a cautionary tale.
    Once we used Mercury in Glass Thermometers.
    Now we use Platinum resister/electronic sensors.
    Consider the reaction time.
    In fact look it up.
    Far better than me explaining it..
    Then consider the times before a thunder storm,when for just a few moments the sun blasts down and you bake,just before Ka Boom.
    I argue the electronic device will give you a nearly instantaneous high temperature reading,while the mercury is still moving as the rain pours down..
    The conceit and arrogance of modern “Climatologists” is that somehow they know the old timers could not record the daily temperatures properly.
    Yet those past weathermen had standards and ethics which these modern gits have never demonstrated…
    Sure we should trust the “Computer output is data crew” Oh yeah.
