1. Make my day. Pollute the crap out of your own country, then nuke the one cleaner than your own to uninhabitable status so you have to stay home and stew in your own brown goo, with no market to sell Chinee Junk to. Brilliant. Let’s do pyramids, too.

2. Such a move presupposes confidence in both an effective offensive EMP capability as well as defensive ABM systems, initiatives that the US military should have been focused on for the last few decades instead of the totally wasted blood and treasure of incoherent war in the ME.

   As for the logic of nuclear war, playing the long game, if the goal is lebensraum, the Chicoms can take out the cities, letting the populations die off and move in for the land and resources after a decade or two. If they deploy neutron bombs, they wouldn’t have to wait that long.

   They don’t have to wait to take Canada in tact as when the US is gone, the Spawn will greet them with open arms before Xi orders his organs be harvested alive as his useful idiot reward.

3. It is nothing. Anyone doing a 1st strike against one or more superpowers will be glassed in retaliation. In that sense, nothing has changed for decades, although hypersonic missiles and missile defense systems may change that dynamic in the future.
   MAD still applies.

      1. That’s all its taken for decades. I don’t expect anyone to stop insane sociopaths from holding the reins of power in my lifetime. The smart ones will leave their people alone and lightly tax them, the dumb ones will regulate them into poverty, and then utter submission, if they can. The desire to bend the knee is a deep design flaw.

5. The Chicoms play the LONG GAME.
   If they think it’ll take 200 years to win so they need to strike tomorrow, they will.

      100 years from now China will have hundreds of millions fewer people and they’ll be like 50 years old.

6. Meh…why bother? Bio weapons are the future baby. Wipe out a country and never worry about infrastructure or long term effects of radiation poisoning.
   Of course this is China we’re talking about – A country who thought in order to halt a Japanese advance it’d be a swell idea to blow open the dikes around the Yangtze river, quite comfortable knowing it’d wipe out a million Chinese downstream in the process.
   As Charlie Chan would say: “Hmmmm…yes, most unfortunate.”

7. The Chicoms don’t need to Launch nuclear missiles against us.
   They probably have already, over the last few decades, been smuggling over to western countries,parts and components for nuclear bombs,brought over on their Chinese container ships, and brought to their Chinese controlled ports and then trans shipped to their Chinese controlled warehouses all over North America and Europe.
   They will assemble them here in North America and Europe to be detonated on site without any possible trace going back to them.
   The Chicoms will do this to take out and destroy capital cities and strategic locations in western countries.
   Then they’ll use EMP and HEMP weapons to take out our infrastructure and cause the mass starvation of hundreds and hundreds of millions of people in order to just walk in unopposed and takeover entire swaths of land continent-wide.
   And the Chicoms will do this because they,without a doubt, are the most racist,supremist people on the face of the earth and that they believe that they, as a people, are “Celestials” and that they are the ‘Middle Kingdom’ between earth and the heavens and are destined to rule the world.

      1. I read the first book. I don’t think its gonna happen; us North Americans will shove a bunch of European commies, middle-eastern Moslems and illiterate Somalians into the mix. Few Sci-Fi authors have dared address that particular dystopia.

   2. That’s the scenario behind the WW III portrayed in the novel Commander-1 by Peter George, who was also one of the authors of the book that was adapted as the movie Dr. Strangelove.

      In Commander-1, China doesn’t launch missiles. It smuggles nukes into Alaska, Greenland, and the U. K. on trucks and parks them next to the respective BMEWS sites. Those nukes are then detonated, catching NORAD and NATO off-guard as it doesn’t know where they came from, since they weren’t seen on radar.

      China, however, doesn’t get away with it and it’s bombed and blasted into nuclear oblivion as a result. It didn’t think that the Americans would retaliate because it didn’t see any incoming missiles and would then have played safe to prevent what had then happened.

      The rest of the novel deals with the aftermath somewhere out in the Pacific.

8. Perhaps I’m being naive, but I think their main goal is being able to “bargain” from a place of intimidation / strength.
   Ask yourself, “what do they have to lose in a nuclear war?” I would say as much as everyone else.

   1. Who were the Germans biggest trading partners before WWI and WWII? Wars aren’t usually fought against strangers, but against those who have something that the attacker wants.

10. A country that thinks it owns the globe wouldn’t need nuclear weapons.

    What is India up to these days?

    1. A country with global ambitions must have nukes if they are to realize their ambitions. India knows she’s alone, and is governing herself accordingly: Arming herself to the tits. I wonder when the “India: Axis of Evil” will hit North American airwaves?

13. China is preparing for nuclear war. In Canada our forces are taking intensive training in use of the proper pronouns. Gee, I feel safer already. What could possibly go wrong?
