Nah, I think, like so many phenomena in the world, the vaccine uptake will roughly follow the 80/20 rule. The last 20% won’t bother, and given that the narrative seems to be settling on “the Variants of Concern may mean that your vaccine won’t work in the future,” it may not matter in the long run.
We’ll never achieve Zero COVID in the same way we’ll never achieve Zero Influenza unless there’s a complete singularity in the worldwide development of medicine and public health, the other side of that singularity being something we can’t even imagine at the moment. I’m not holding my breath during my lifetime.

And given how miserably the rollout of vaccinations has been to date, how is it reasonable to expect that so many millions will suddenly be vaccinated now? What has changed?
Further, so far, each time an announcement has been made about “getting back to normal”, the date given for the expiration of the emergency measures has come and gone, and there has been no return to the “before” state, just an extension of the lockdown status quo. What guarantees are offered to ensure that this time the government really means what it says?*
* Yeah, I know, expecting the government to be accountable is like expecting a screen door to protect against a flood…
15000 surgeries delayed, mental health care almost not available in Manitoba, basic vaccination of children on hold for over a year as resources are deployed to futile covid tracking. At the same time psychos at Manitoba Department of Health are obsessed with controlling who and where you meet , what business you can run and if you can make a personal choice about taking the jab….. and of course gagging people with useless masks . Just an observation but it’s eerie that covid reopening plans read like parole conditions for incarcerated prisoners once they’ve served 2/3 of their sentence.

I shudder every time I hear a politician claim his plan is “flexible”. I predict that by fall, even a small uptick in Covid cases will propel us into full scale lockdown again.
The immunization targets are pretty steep. They are going to pit the unvaccinated against the vaccinated in some sort of peer pressure battle. It will get ugly by September 1, at which time summer will be over anyway. Ugh.
I phoned my “conservative” MLA’s office yesterday (Cliff Cullen) Spruce Woods to voice my objection to their plan to further abuse our Charter Rights by creating a two tier system where by those who refuse the shot will be marginalized and punished in an attempt to pressure and coerce them into getting the shot. In hind sight bashing my head against the wall would have made been more productive. Also asked if the govt. was considering the use of HDQ & Ivermectin to reduce hospitalizations? Apparently they are to busy “dealing with the pandemic”, aka dreaming up new restrictions to make time. Make no mistake, Pallister and crew have NO intention of ending their lockdowns, and get ready for the blood bath come the fall flu season when large percentages of the vaxxed will succumb to the real and deadly adverse effects of autoimmune disease, which the govt. will blame on those who did not take the shot.
