  1. I’m reminded of Trump’s reaction to Republican traitor John McCain … that he prefers his heroes as not being captured by the enemy. If you don’t believe the Commander in Chief … President Donald J Trump … gave the orders to put ALL of these assets at risk to recover our downed pilots … then you are just willfully ignorant, and you need intervention for your TDS.

This 60 Minutes of leftist propaganda harpy completely ignored the man who GAVE THE ORDER to rescue our pilots. Gee, I wonder why?

    1. No way.

German military deaths in 1944 and 1945 were about 1.8 million and 1.5 million respectively.

US military deaths totaled just over 400,000 in those two years, and that includes the Pacific Theater.

      1. “German military deaths in 1944 and 1945 were about 1.8 million and 1.5 million respectively.”

        On all fronts?
Perhaps VDH was talking about the German Western Front or against Americans in battle.

The German Eastern Front against the Russians was recorded in a book called “Fighting in Hell”.
This was a book written by German officers recounting their experiences against the Red Army/Air Force.
The largest tank battle in history took place on the Eastern Front.

There is another book, I can’t seem to find it, written about the German Officer corps.
That book was written by an American officer who found that in WWII when the Germans had equal or superior forces, they won every single battle. The book was written to delve into why this was the case.

        1. Even if the Western Front-Eastern Front ratio was 20%-80% that would mean German deaths on the Western Front were around 700,000 during 1944 and 1945 as against just over 400,000 US military deaths during the entire war, including in the Pacific.

I’m not buying VDH’s 70% more US casualties.

          1. I also read an account stating that German losses versus American losses averaged roughly 1.5 to 1.0, except for those troops under the command of General Patton, whose ratio was 9 to 1.

          2. Did you know that the Americans weren’t the only army fighting against the Germans on the Western Front? It’s true. You can look it up.
My father was with the RCAF and fought the Germans on the Western Front from 1940-1945.
Canada’s top Air Ace had 72 kills. America’s had about 25.
The German’s Top Air Ace had over 300. Their Top Tank Ace, Michael Wittman had over 200 kills.

          3. I found some specific numbers:

German losses in Western Europe and Africa: 508,000.

American losses in Western Europe and Africa: 250,000.

And yes, I’m aware the military of other countries also fought and killed Germans.

It’s VDH’s 70% higher US casualties comment I was addressing.

          4. The great book on the Battle of Normandy was indeed entitled “Six Armies In Normandy”, by the great John Keegan, and was organised around the experiences of the six national armies that participated. Yes, you guessed the Germans. And the British and Americans are obvious, and so are the Canadians, at least to Canadians. The other two? Well, if you ever wondered why there used to be Polish Combatants clubs all over the country, the Free Polish Army fought under Canadian command in Normandy. And most poignantly the Free French Army fought, under American command.

  2. l marvel at the unbending ferocity and incessant determination and blistering speed of the whole operation. e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e involved knowing the bad guys were one step closer to the downed pilot with every moment.
did he realize the effort that was happening? l like to think at the very least he knew to do his part, keep his wits, keep concealed, keep in touch.
l hope this has a lasting impact on things like recruitment.
and God Bless the American military and God Bless the American taxpayer who has financed generations of success and progress and improvement in the personnel and equipment.

  3. “The greatest military in the history of the world.”

Now now. It’s no time for modesty.
