For anyone still wondering if any of it was ever about public health, or competent management, or anything they ever claimed it was about; no it was not. It was all lies from the first second of the first day. It will always be lies. It always was lies. Everything they put in their press releases was either a lie, or simple distraction. Vaccines, number of cases, everything.
Nothing was ever off the table.
The politicians deferred to the “experts” because the media demanded that they “follow the science”. So far, so good, right? Well, if you are a politician this is great news because you can always blame the “experts” no matter what happens now. The “experts” being cowards, will not apply any kind of risk management knowing that every death now falls in their laps. So, we get lock downs and models that are out to lunch to justify the lock downs. Now the “experts” can say they recommended everything that the other “experts” told them was the right thing to do!
We are now stuck with people who have gone down a tunnel that is getting narrower and narrower, and they are now at the point where they are stuck. They can’t turn around because their shoulders are wedged firmly in the sides of the tunnel, and they can’t back out because that would be seen as an admission that they were wrong, and that might garner blame from the politicians and the public at large.
And who are those “experts”? Many are academics, most of whom have never worked a day in their lives since high school, who, though well-educated, are clueless about how the real world functions. They are oblivious to the consequences of their actions while proclaiming that “science” must be “social” and “accountable”, none of which have any basis in reality.
Those same academics have nothing but contempt for those outside of the system. They believe that the sole purpose of the “peasants”, the “great unwashed” is to keep forking over tax money to fund their activities and to keep them in the comfort and way of life they not only have become accustomed to, but believe that they are entitled to them.
The situation for the last year or so has been among their fondest dreams. At last, those of us who believe that those academics are accountable to us, those of us who scoffed at their disconnection from what actually is going on, are finally getting what we’ve long deserved. At last, we are expected to obey whatever they say and that punishments for not complying will be heavily exacted upon us.
I wouldn’t be surprised that my Ph. D. supervisor, who I long suspected of being a leftist, must be overjoyed that, at last, those who should have ruled society are finally in charge, using politicians and civil servants as proxies.

So after a year of restricting our economy and limiting our freedom what have they got to show for it? In my province the answer is nothing. The capacity of the health care system has not increased one iota. No new nurses or doctors were hired. No new nurses were trained. None were cross trained. No new emergency beds were added and no new facilities were built. No ambulances were added and no paramedics hired. There has been nothing done to the medical system to handle the crisis, in fact regular service has been reduced or cancelled.
Distribution of vaccines is a train wreck of organization that rivals navigation skills in the Titanic.
But they quickly introduced a colour code “traffic light” system to detail the different levels of restrictions they were always so happy to impose on us. And after month they removed the green or normal category, thereby removing all hope that anything would go back to the way it was.
But in their genius they added shades of orange and pink to differentiate the size of your bubble, where you could shop, eat, play and worship. And still no new medical capacity but ever increasing restrictions on Canadians. Not anyone who flew from everyplace were the Chinese virus had mutated into an acceptable geographic name. this whole thing is crap. They. The political and medical leadership have a hell of alot to answer for.
Hospital Facility Manager in Ontario here… we have recieved one… ONE .. ICU bed to date. But the province has shut down all nurse testing stations in the province except one in Toronto.
I was disgusted at how in his opening remarks Colonel Klink (Brian) was so giddy he could barely contain himself. The clear take away from the press conference was Pallister’s retribution against those that dared to gather at the Forks the previous day to object to his extreme lockdown measures – which he openly bragged about how they were the most repressive in the country. . The only thing worse was the LIBERAL media with their pre-scripted “questions” demanding stricter lockdowns, much harsher enforcement by the covid cops and provincial border closures.
Oh, by the way Pallister and crew are supposedly our Conservative government.

Nobody and nothing gave power to Pallister and Roussin to conduct social experimentation. One has been elected not to be a king or a sultan or a pharaoh , the other is dumb bureaucrat that should not venture outside of his department.

According to the new rules, having my daughter over for dinner on our deck is illegal, but if we met at an outdoor patio at a Winnipeg restaurant and dined in the same area as a whole bunch of strangers it would be completely legal.
The reason for this blatant contradiction is simple: the restaurant association made it crystal clear that without outdoor dining, most of them will be closed for good within the month. I don’t blame them for lobbying the government in order to preserve their livelihood and I don’t want them bankrupted, but the argument that this measure was taken on the basis of science is a self-evident lie.
