How many times have we heard this? That above everything else human behaviour is the primary driver of covid. That every minor and major blip on the chart is because we misbehaved. Every dip is because we listened to the “experts”.
Last April we misbehaved, then behaved for 3 months, misbehaved in August, behaved in September, then really misbehaved for 3 months, started listening again, and then bounced back and forth like a yo-yo the last 3 months because we couldn’t make up our minds.
My response has never changed.
Blame this thing on whatever you want, attribute the “spike” on whatever they want.
But at no point in the lecture ever try to tell me it’s rain water on my pant leg.
I’ve not yet understood how 10s of thousands of youthful sheep are voluntarily testing every day to ramp these positive cases. One simple solution is to boycott testing. Under 50 and get sniffles? It’s unlikely to get any worse than the last 300 times you got sniffles. Get out the chicken soup and get in bed and binge watch something and sleep it off for a couple days. Think you’re going to die then by all means head for emergency (but I guess if you’re binging Canadian news they’ve got you convinced sniffles will kill you and everyone you love).
Many colleges and universities have apps that require students to complete daily surveys and when requested to get tested. There are punitive consequences for not following orders. With the PCR CT control knob, it will be possible to dial “cases” up and down for some time.
Of course, the natural progression of viral diseases is for them to wax and wane and most often to die out or to remain at very low levels.
Maybe it’s because they have nothing in their life that gives them any meaning and so they latch onto this as “their” great crisis, and signal their heroism through social media.
Previous generations had wars, and depressions, this generation has a “pandemic”.
Kinda the same reason “extreme sports” abound. Putting one’s life in danger, seems to be the only means for some people to be “alive”. I consider it a form of mental illness. Like all the faux greens yearning for a simpler life … when dysentery and cholera cut lives very short.
When will the experts confront what’s happening in Michigan? Michigan’s surge was worse than Ontario’s. Whitmer didn’t lock down this time and, behold, the numbers are falling. The experts told her she needed to go full Doug Ford, that the vaccines won’t be enough to skate out of this mother of all surges. She didn’t blink. As Thomas Sowell said, “[Experts and intellectuals always conflate a problem and the tell us the solutions are more of their own expert advice].”

IMO, and you can tell me I’m off-base, but I think that even though she publicly said she had no interest in the VP slot that she was expecting to get a cabinet position and when that didn’t happen her only way to have a future in politics, particularly if she has national aspirations, is to win re-election next year, which will require a great deal of “forget what I’ve done the past several years, please and thank you.”

Interestingly enough, here in Michigan, our cases spiked and are falling despite our annual migration to Florida (spring break) and more people than ever ditching masks (myself included in both). The only person at work to get it in the last month was the guy who’s pretty faithful about wearing his mask.
I’m so thankful that all the other states are open and have few restrictions, that’s made it politically impossible for our governess to impose any further restrictions, aside from telling two year olds they have to wear masks in daycare….
Despite our vice presidents administration telling us we had to shut down again.
Anyone looking at that chart will know that Covid is over. We have a long, lingering tail, but the pandemic is over.
