I Want a New Country

O’Toole goes full McKenna. You should never go full McKenna.

From his recent speech.

“We have now fought and lost two elections against a carbon tax because voters did not think we were serious about addressing climate change,” O’Toole said in his speech to delegates.

“And I will not allow 338 candidates to defend against the lie from the Liberals that we are a party of climate change deniers.”

If that is honestly what he thinks then his political instincts and ability to read the room are so low they can’t even be charted.

With everything that’s been going on in the country are the boomer cons really going to run with an election strategy of blue pilling their own people on climate change? 🤦‍♂️

      1. I don’t follow koolaid drinkers … and ANYONE who says idiot things like … “the debate is over”.

What a fool (and a tool)

  1. Climate Ken thinks that he can out-stupid Blackie to convince the stupid voters to support him.

The election will turn into a climate stupidity vote auction.

    1. “The election will turn into a climate stupidity vote auction.”

And the Liberals will win it. Although not because their guy is any stupider than Zero-T00L; I don’t think that’s possible. It’s just that Zero-T00L will say “I promise we’ll give you lots of free stuff”, which amounts to just another campaign promise – and everybody knows what they’re worth.

Whereas, Little Potato will say “We ARE giving you lots of free stuff already – why vote for the OTHER guy?”

      1. The CBC backs socialist political parties. Easterners seem to be too lazy to get real news. Or, are they too addicted to “free” things?

      2. Exactly correct. The CPC braintrust is so enamoured of the idea of making themselves liked by the public opinion polls that they’re destroying anything that distinguishes them from the Liberals. This election is already over.

  2. Boomer cons? WTF?! Erin O’Toole and his party of dunces are NOT BOOMERS. O’Toole was born in ’73.
And fuck Canada, Alberta needs to get out of this abusive relationship.

    1. well Ooz, if more people had abandoned the CPC last election, do you think they may have learned they are using a loosing strategy. People like you and the COLON are as stupid as this grinning idiot O’Stool!

And for another heads up, it isn’t O’Stool the fool making these dissensions, it’s the OLD guard, like in BOOMERS!

      1. “if more people had abandoned the CPC last election”~NME666

If? Instead of Bernier’s cult syphoning off the vote, you mean.
After all, the CPC got the plurality of the vote and here you and your cult-bois live in a fever dream where it’s the inverse of reality.
NEWS FLASH: You have to live and work from reality, not from your fever dreams.

The CPC would have been better than the Liberal Party of Canada, despite you cultists pretending otherwise.
You could have chosen the lesser of two evils. Instead you pretend that there was a third option when there wasn’t.

          1. Oh, you think that losing the one seat which had been held by Maxime’s father and been in the family for decades means the PPC cult was a viable option? Sure, you just keep thinking that way. LOL
This is me laughing at you, NME666. You’re a fool.

    2. I’m afraid I am with Oz. Fuck Canada. If things don’t change, I am staying home for the next election. Fuck Jason Kenny too. That pin head is no better than Erin. Good grief, does Erin have two daddies? What kind of parents name their son “Erin”?

      1. Do not stay home, but spoil your ballot as I do with “Western Separation Now!” I will NEVER vote for another Canadian Federal party again.

        1. Yes, spoil your ballot if you don’t like what’s on offer. You don’t have to vote for the choices offered, but you can “vote” by spoiling your ballot…..non of the above. They ARE counted.

          1. Or…..vote for the Maverick Party. They are the federal Separatist party of Western Canada.

          2. Participation in Confederation makes no sense for Albertans. Voting in a Canadian Federal election is participation.
No need to legitimize Canada. Liberty and Sovereignty will only come with a Provincial vote at the provincial level.

      2. “what kind of parents name their son “Erin”?

I would suggest progressive types of parents that think such a name is cool or hip.
Perhaps they should have named him “Erring”, cuz he sure is erring now. What an idiot. His home swimming pool is filled with cool aid.

    3. EXACTLY Oz.

      Maverick
      Wild Rose

The rest of those Eco-Tard SJ Woke Globalist bits of GARBAGE can kiss me arse..!!

  3. “Alberta needs to get out of this abusive relationship.”

    But that would require balls.

    1. Balls? What kind, tennis balls?
I’m thinking it would require a vote in Alberta.
Balls, geeze what an idiot you are MacMaster-bater. Just STFU and keep voting Bernier, mmkay cult-boi?

      1. Naawwwww. Not tennis balls, silly. You already have that.

That’s the type of balls you have when you can’t put up a credible protest after being pissed on for six years. Keyboard commandos – the lot of you.

Wexit, Wexit, Wexit. wah wah wah….!

  4. The debate is over? AKA the science is settled?

You stupid clown … there is no ‘climate change’ there is ever-changing WEATHER.

There has been no warming in over 20 years, yet you flog that dead pony.

Just like the Chinese Flu scamdemic, global warming or global cooling … can be sure so let’s just call it Climate Change to cover both possibilities, because just calling it Global Warming when it has already stopped warming long ago is looking a tad inane.

Whatever will scare the shit out of The People will help control and manipulate us … right.

Oh Danny Boy … the pipes the pipes are leaking.

    1. The only place catastrophic climate change exists is in climate models. But climate models don’t reflect reality, they reflect what climate scientists wish was happening. They’re fake science ‘fear porn’ used to justify the push toward a ‘green economy’, which is a smoke and mirrors drive to socialism. The goal of a ‘green economy’ is to bring everyone on the planet to the same level of misery. Look around you, it’s happening. Politicians are selling our jobs to undeveloped countries for personal gain, and taxing us to redistribute your money to others, while skimming off part for themselves. And the energy and employment sectors of our economy are going to hell, all in the name of “green energy” and “saving the planet”.

I used to wonder what ‘global warming / climate change’ was about. Now I know. It’s just wealth redistribution / socialism plain and simple. We don’t need stimulus checks or reparations, we just need good jobs. But the cheap whores we elected as politicians are selling us out to other countries for a pittance.

      1. The climate has been changing ever since the Earth was formed. The changing climate has been exploited for ill-begotten gain and wielding of power over the gullible ever since humans appeared.
In the Book of Genesis Joseph and Pharaoh discus how to exploit it. Egyptians ended up turning their property over to the government in exchange for food collected during the good years.
Throwing virgins into volcanoes and Aztecs cutting people’s hearts out for sacrifice to the sun god have been done “to stop it”. Carbon taxes are the latest scam for controlling the gullible.

      2. Louis…Well said, sir.
        I still feel miserable, though.
I suspect that I am in good company.

  5. As a former aide to Harper said recently, Doug Ford ran a campaign against the carbon tax and other global warming scams and won a huge majority.

    1. Doug Ford ran against a Liberal government that had finally worn out its welcome so badly that voters turned against it en masse and obliterated the party. Yes, the Tories had previously snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in Ontario at least twice, but be careful of the lessons to draw.

      1. I.M., and the cuckservative’s next batter up was Patdick brown clown, which got changed just before the election, so the Ont cucks learned, CPC seems impervious to learning

        1. I’ve said before that I think Canada is at least 65% progressive in its electoral makeup and that number is only creeping higher by the year, not lower. Tacking to the right will not win Conservatives an election in such an environment.

Fat lot of good winning a federal election does in this country, anyway.

          1. While maybe your percentage may be right at the moment, there is no option for the plebes to look and see what else is there.
            O’Toole is a Liberal.
Must be the Central Committee of the so called ‘Conservative’ party that is possibly made up of failed Liberal apparatchiks.

          2. That may be true that tacking to the right won’t work. But when tacking to the left, pick the right issues to pivot on, like Trump did. Trump budged not an inch on climate change, nor open borders. He moved left on issues like protectionism and trade, issues that would resonate with large numbers of Democrats, issues that would not alienate conservatives. Choosing climate change is absolutely crazy, it will win not a single voter over. Not one.

          3. Canada’s Right constitutes less than 2 percent of the electorate. All the rest vote for turdo la doo … or skunks that smell just like him.

        1. Sounds like you’re a CPC strategist Jeff: can’t undo anything Liberal, just manage Liberal programs a bit more competently.

          NO THANKS

        2. We aren’t a country; we’re a colony of central bananada. AB independence is the only political goal i will support. There’s no point in voting for any federal party. We are now a shit hole run by a shithead.

  6. Anytime someone says arrogantly that “the debate is over”, it makes we want to vomit. Nobody gets to decide when a debate is over.
Also, the idea that it voters go Liberal because of climate change is nuts. It doesn’t register on the list of voter priorities. It’s insane to think that is the issue to focus on. This is the kind of BS that created the Reform and the Canadian Alliance. Why on earth would he travel that same road? He wants to be the modern-day Kim Campbell, on a road to splitting his own party so they cannot win another election.

  7. If anyone has ever seen any evidence of climate stasis, let me know. There appears to be absolutely no evidence that the climate ever stays the same on a global scale over appropriate time scale. Climate change is natural and unavoidable, climate stasis is very likely a myth.

    1. “climate stasis is very likely a myth.”

Well, I guess there always is the possibility that in the past couple hundred years, if it hadn’t been for mankind, the climate would have stabilized for the first time in the history of the planet.

      1. Bullshit! This is a dynamic Planet and will continue to be until this collection of retards gets replaced by the Chimps, or Ants, take your pick. It will be dynamic until the Sun goes Red Giant, about 5 billion years from now. By then your opinion will be moot. More than likely this crop of idiot humans will die off like the Dinosaurs….a large chunk of space “junk” hitting it. The odds are that good, unless the Chicoms release another designer “bug” before then.
My creds, a Geologist. Go visit Sudbury sometime.

        1. “go visit Sudbury sometime”

          No shit….
          Said Nickel came from somewhere…!
Been there more than once… shitty roads..LOL
But still got friends there..working a EVRAZ.

  8. Tell Canadians the Liberals are going to take away your gas furnace and your personal car and repeat it loudly like Big C Mckenna and you’re gonna win votes.

  9. Seriously. Why not simply vote for the Liberals? What is the difference? Taxes never go down. Service never gets better. Government always gets bigger. Freedom always gets smaller. There is literally no discernable difference between any political party in this country, and I have lived under all of them.

  10. Rex Murphy at the National Post writes about O’Toole’s global warming views.

  11. There needs to be a new conservative leadership convention. Stat.

This guy has no idea how to unite his party. Heck, bring back Scheer if that is what it takes. This guy is taking the party on a road to oblivion. There is no need for another 1993-2006 period of being stuck in oblivion, where the leadership goes full LIberal-lite, loses most of the Conservative voters, and eventually the party becomes a rump and then 13 years later they come crawling back to the real Conservative party where all the Conservative voters went.

As someone said above, Rob Ford recently proved this pivot is completely unnecessary, he ran his entire campaign against carbon taxes and the entire climate BS and won a huge majority.

    1. “… and won a huge majority …”

As pointed-out above, Premier Fraud didn’t win any kind of majority at all – Wynne’s losers LOST a huge majority.

      1. Ford did what Eves, Tory and Hudak all failed to do, all of them facing an equally feckless Liberal party.

    2. NO…DISAGREE 100%
What needs to happen is the CONS need to join the LIBS…which is where they all belong.
Then …?? meh, who cares ..??

Maverick is the only way to go FEDERALLY.
      Wild Rose Provincially

The rest are not even worth mentioning

  12. Harper left the CBC standing ….. the most conservative PM in a long while. I quit after that.

  13. Alberta has to show leadership NOW! Bernier was spot on when he said that AB had to do basic stuff. Create their own pension plan and police force. Do the work to start distancing AB from Ottawa domination. Bernier states that Alberta will find an ally in Quebec.

Kenney appears to be ignoring the findings of his own task force. He will likely pay a political cost. Wexit is slowly organizing but whether fast enough to influence the coming election is questionable. A conservative/Reformer I will not vote CPC in the next election. If Wexit does not have a candidate I will vote PPC. I have found a new respect for Bernier over the past year. The PPC is doing the work that the CPC should have started over 20 years ago. I am comfortable in saying that a goodly portion of the CPC leadership today are carpet baggers. They are not leading from a philosophical conviction. It is all about power at any cost which inevitably means personal aggrandizement.
Not only do I not think the CPC will win the coming election but they will see their Western base start to abandon them.

      1. I like your style, but people don’t save for retirement and their will always be a hard case of like 10% who can’t.

Then we’ll have hundreds of thousands of homeless seniors living in filth and extreme poverty.

A big welfare state is a moral hazard but real life is hardcore and people don’t want it…that’s why we’ve gotten to this point.

        1. We’ve already got hundreds of thousands of homeless seniors living in filth and extreme poverty on the Reserves.

        2. “I like your style, but people don’t save for retirement”

Tough shit for those people, then.
The government took my Canada Pension Plan money and squandered it on immigrants.
I’d have plenty of money if they’d not stolen it from me.

  14. “The debate is over because it’s obvious we are never going to get any kind of proof, and we have to act now!”

  15. Who is advising him? There are many Conservatives who could explain to him why global warming is a scam. To suggest that “The debate is over” is a leftist tactic to shut down debate. He will lose votes over this.

    1. Progressive hegemony has gotten us to the point that criticizing or debating the details of climate change frames a person as an anti-science moron in the minds of mainstream voters.

Doesn’t matter what the truth is. Climate change is a secular religion that correct minded progressives subscribe to now.

The CPC can’t win as they are (with only 30% support). They think cucking on climate will win moderate progressive votes.

    2. I’m not voting for him. I’m probably going to vote liberal at this point. They’re more conservative than oh tool.

    3. LindaL, He’s obviously drunk a gallon or two of the cool aid. As others above have said, I too, will no longer vote for liberal lite. For him to even spout this climate garbage after the convention voted it down, shows just how stupid it was to elect this idiot.

  16. Weird, your screenshot shows his tweet dangerously close to being ratio’d but when I looked at around 8:30am it had around 841 comments vs 1.2k likes. I guess he follows the JT school of responding to criticism…

      1. And quite possibly did have Max, until the backroom boys counted and burned the ballots saying “Trust us, The Dairy Queen won.”

        1. So why didn’t Maxime run for CPC leader against O’Toole? Oh right, he quit the CPC and started a cult instead.
And to think some A-holes think he is leader material. Pfft!

  17. Perhaps the internals show that Canadians are waking up to what an ignorant vacant, man child Trudeau is along with his govt.

Instead of playing a conservative foil, maybe the fear is O’toole might form govt?

As such his official policies cannot reflect actual conservatism. Must be changed to ensure the long march continues unrestrained.

  18. O’Toole is getting more disappointing everyday.
    A fool.
You cannot out Lib the liberals, don’t even try.

      1. Neo, Naahhh, it’s the volcanoes, we should plug em all with concrete. That’ll fix the problem.

    1. Bob, I agree that O’Toole cannot out-Lib the Liberals. And given his nonsensical anti-Conservative strategy, the terrible result is that he could bring on a majority Justin Trudeau government. And this means four more years of corrupt Liberal government, whereby the Liberals will purposely try to destroy our economy.

      1. David, Try? I think they’ve already managed that, they just need to keep on top of it to ensure it doesn’t restart by mistake, before the great reset is completed.

        1. True. I am a retired economics professor, and I brood every day, about what our economy is becoming. Extraordinary.

    2. Deja vu.
I am old enough to remember the Mulroney PC Party so closely resembled the Liberal Party that Preston Manning and friends formed the Reform Party.
Max has the right idea, I think he needs a leadership review tho…maybe he can get Derek Sloan.

  19. If I get the opportunity when the election is called, I will happily look the incumbent Conservative Candidate square in the eyes and tell him that under no circumstances will I vote for anyone who thinks that by compromising the economy they can change the weather!

I hope we have a PPC candidate

  20. So O’Tools message is: “We believe the other party is right and that man-made climate change is going to wipe out all life on the planet in 20 years unless drastic changes are made, but jobs are important so our party will only make small changes here and there.” Wow. How to position yourself to lose votes from both sides of the aisle.

  21. This guy O’Toole should have never even won the leadership of the conservative party.
It would seem that he won by default against McKay who was disliked quantity.
When O’Toole started there seem to have been a chance, as he progressed along it became obvious that he is basically nothing as in 0.
The apparatchiks of the central committee of the ‘Conservative’ party could not bring themselves to support Lewis or Sloan, those two being actual conservatives.
There is a test moron on the QR station in Calgary striving for the job of Danielle Smith. On yesterday’s program he insisted that the conservatives must get down with the climate change and other assorted socialist/fascist schemes.
If all that the confab of so called ‘Conservatives’ want is power, they are a lost cause, will end up in the dump heap of history, to be thought of as unaccomplished wannabees.
Would propose here that the conservatives get on with getting elected on factual stuff, like economy, create atmosphere where business thrives and people find useful and profitable employment.
To talk about semantics of climate change takes some brain and power of argument not agreeing to it, roll over and play dead.
It should be made clear, this does not take a lot of brain power, that climate change is a state of normal in the life of planet, any planet. It should be insisted on that the term was hijacked because Anthropologic Global Warming was not getting anywhere.
It also should be made clear that the ants, that humans are relative to the planet, can’t do a damn thing, nothing, ever, to change climate of the complex system, far more complex than the feeble minds of its would be correctors can even imagine.
The carbon taxes and all the paraphernalia along with it is a money-making scam for those that went to school for a long time and came out with nothing to do but talk shit.

There is far more to this, later.

  22. I have a picture in our shop.
    NEVER GIVE UP!!
It shows a crane with a frog in it’s throat and the frog has it’s hands around the cranes throat so it can’t swallow him.

Well I am about to give up on the CPC.

I am getting tired of the Bullshit that our party takes from the media and our members asking for forgiveness and apologizing when ever the media fabricates stories about them.
GROW A PAIR OF BALLS PEOPLE!!! FIGHT BACK!!

  23. Deplorable messaging here.

Yes the climate has warmed on average at a rate of 1.4 degrees C per century since 1979 when credible satellite measurements became available. This is hardly a crisis. The warming has primarily come from warmer winter nights rather than hotter summer days.

    http://www.drroyspencer.com/latest-global-temperatures/

The problem is that outside of a HUGE reduction in our standard of living we have no solution. If (a BIG IF) the government to be believed and the carbon tax works as intended Canadian emissions would be reduced by 90 mega tonnes by 2022.

Let’s try to work out an example. One credible appearing study tells us that one tonne of CO₂ causes global temperature to increase by 0.00000000000155⁰C / tonne.

Simple math tells us that the carbon tax would reduce global temperature by one Celsius degree in 6700 years. Is this worth the price?

This is why the government talks about CO2 tonnes rather than temperature.

    1. PJ, No one ever thinks to mention there are something like 500 volcanoes on this planet, and what we humans contribute to the warming effort is abysmally tiny in comparison. But hey, if they can convince the idiots that it’s us humans, then they can get their funding to continue…ad infinitum.

  24. They’re going to have to do a “Patrick Brown” on this loser or they will have no chance in the next election.

  25. Well, the only positive thing coming out of O’Toole’s last month, in playing to the Toronto media cartel, is that we will have no endless CPC-PPC fights on this SDA forum. The issue, as they say, has been settled. A couple of related points:

    1. Two days ago, I wrote to Erin O’Toole, a short email about why I could not vote CBC or put up CPC lawn signs, saying that he was supporting Liberal party positions. Three days ago I wrote a lengthy, moving letter to my local-yokel councilman on a local issue, copying it to our mayor. Both emails were polite. Yet none of the three politicians saw fit to write back to me, or to even acknowledge my emails. Is this the new normal?

    2. None of us SDAers will be voting CPC now. I am wondering, what is the state of the Wexit parties these days? Now that O’Toole has made his “to hell with conservatism” intentions clear, what are Western SDAers doing for the upcoming federal election? Here in Fredericton I will be helping the local PPC band to soldier on. I am not the do-nothing, “all is lost” type of conservative.

From the movie “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington”, we can write a new script: “Mr. O’Toole goes to Ottawa, and becomes Ottawa”.

    1. That’s my feeling exactly. They don’t want us so we’ll find a place that does. Eventually the PPC will elect some MPs and that will shock the CPC elite. The tide’s out on O’Toole.

  26. “Green Green” sing-a-long” 1963, everyone ….

Nah, there ain’t nobody in this whole wide world
Gonna tell me to spend my time
    I’m just a good-lovin’ ramblin’ man
Say, buddy, can ya spare me a dime?
    Hear me cryin’

    CHORUS
(Green, green, it’s green they say)
(On the far side of the hill)
    (Green, green, I’m goin’ away)
(To where the grass is greener still)

  27. This is an amazing moment for Wexit.
If Wexit can be organized, in time for the next election, they could certainly open some eyes, as I don’t think there’s been such a political vacuum in decades. I’ve been voting Conservative for over 40 years, but I won’t go to the polls for O’tool.
AS the ol’ saying goes,,, I didn’t leave the CPC, the CPC left me.

  28. All this gloom and doom talk about the how the voters are too progressive to elect conservatives, but I can’t help but notice that every politician in this country run a campaign well to the right of the bullshit they spew after the votes are counted. O’Toole campaigned as a real conservative (despite his light red record), Kenny ran as a more conservative candidate than he governs as, the Mayor of Winnipeg became a “progressive” and “person of colour” the day after the election, and even Blackie said ” No country would find 173 billion barrels of oil in the ground and leave them there.”

Perhaps we should all start class action suits against politicians for fraud like this.

  29. Just sent an email to my local PC MP, explaining why I don’t support this position, with some references. I also said why would I give money to a party indistinguishable from the Liberals?

  30. The obtuseness is becoming unbearable.
First, the carbon tax was not made the central theme of the campaign. For an example of how this works, while the opposition does what it does every campaign (disparage conservatives of being everything liberals are guilty of) the smart campaign focuses on something like a reduction in the GST.
If eliminating the carbon tax is the central theme of the campaign the conservatives can ignore the opposition with the response that punitive measures against Canadians is not only wrong it’s morally reprehensible to believe communist China is actually doing something about so called AGW while doing it. To seal the deal follow up with
“ it would be like someone telling a family of four to give up their minivan for a subcompact electric vehicle at their own cost while they get to tour around in a vintage Mercedes coupe”

Frankly I’ve given up on the Progressive Conservatives they are infected with political opportunists that couldn’t find an open nomination for a liberal seat so decided to put on a blue coat.

    1. Again…we have no Progressive Conservative Federal party….

      I will be supporting PPC.

  31. Just emailed my MP but he’s a bigger idiot than Erin The Toole so I don’t know if it will do anything.

  32. To the folks in Saskatchewan as usual we have done what needed to be done and voted in a full slate of conservatives unlike the rest of the country. We now need to reap the reward of doing the right thing we need to contact our MPs and make it clear that Otoole has to go,bitching on here won’t do a thing. It will take 5 minuets of your time.

  33. So all the same players are still being played to astro turf I take it? The colon, oz, unme, all singing from the same “Scheer is our only chance to defeat Trudeau” song book? Sorry, “O’Toole is our only chance to defeat Trudeau” song book. Is it still O’Toole, or did they have another convention, not tell anyone, and a new leader has been installed without the “grassroots” even knowing?

You want to know how long it will take this version of “conservative” movement in Canada to re-brand and start under a new banner? Probably at least 3 more obviously losing election cycles.

    1. “The colon, oz, unme, all singing from the same….”

No actually UnMe is with you on that, he is just as limited as you are, Field Marshall Windbag.

  34. This is great.
    For Western Separation that is.
Almost as if the Progressive Conservatives are competing with the Liberals to evict us from the Con of Confederation.
The best part,if we Declare our Independence and get organized in reducing our own parasitic overload, not only do we pass on a chance of a better future to our children..we also create the freedom to profiteer from the Eastern Madness.

Gang Green has reached their brains, soon enough they will be starving and freezing in the wonderland of their own imagining.
First we must have a place to stand and fight the insane off.
Success in that will enrich us all.
Then we will be able to buy up most of the ROC ,after they experience their “Carbon Free Paradise”.
Good old “Uncommon sense” says pixie dust and unicorn farts will never provide us the luxury and security of Oil.
We have Oil, rich land and people weaned on hard work.
What we currently lack is a common vision,of the future we want to build.
NOT Can Ahh Duh is not enough.

For wealth is not the measure of our problem,we live as Gods compared to even a hundred years ago..
The fall of civilization so many of us see coming, might just be a symptom of our aging, except Lying ,Looting and Murder never ended well before.
Just as past civilization left us their ruins to admire and their lessons to absorb.

So with that “New Country”,will it be New? or same old welfare state with different management?

  35. Also, to address “the party system”. The party system has failed us all, clearly. Old parties, new parties, merged parties. CBC still here. West still on the outside. Crow rate still gone. Still annual rail shortages every time there is a good harvest. Still no pipelines. Still have equalization. Still have Trudeau’s charter. Still have the privy council. Still have supreme court justices on the legal teams of SNC Lavalin ethics violations.

Who told you you needed a party? Why not send 500 independents to Ottawa? Have you tried that before? It is a solution that you have not tried, and that has also not already failed you.

So, you can keep repeating the same thing and keep expecting different results. Or, if you want something different, maybe you are just going to have to bite down, and actually so something different. Think different. Act different. Vote different. Believe different people. Trust different sources.

  36. Wexit (or the Maverick party) will not be a force in the next federal election (I don’t think it should be a force in any federal election but that is a point for a different time) as they won’t be ready in the next few weeks. The people that run Le Dauphin are very smart. They are reading the tea leaves and see that their blue opponents across the aisle have, once again, shot themselves in the foot by choosing another Joe Clark as leader and will call an election sooner than later.

My prediction for the election in May will be a full majority for the liarberals. The CPC will completely disintegrate when the majority of Alberta and Saskatchewan MPs, led by Michelle Rempel-Garner, resign, and begin the earnest campaign to leave canada.

Mr. Kenney, another Joe Clark, has turned out to be completely useless. My hope is that he will be turfed and Brian Jean will be chosen leader and then premier.

On a more positive note, legislation has been introduced in the Alberta legislature (at least I believe it has) that allows for citizen initiated referendums. The Maverick party should be the driving force to initiate an independence referendum, first in Alberta and then spreading outwards.

As for the next election, I will be spoiling my ballot. “Vive Alberta Libre!”

      1. Perhaps…if there is a candidate.
Still want to spoil it just so I feel better 😉

  37. Benedict O’Toole! How do we get stuck with these spineless idiot puppets? Not a bony vertebrae supporting this leader’s cerebral container.

    1. They shoot lame horses don’t they? O’Toole is lame, he is Tweedle Me to Trudeau’s Tweedle Dum. Does he really think Canadians want to Stop Climate Change more than keep their job, pay their rent or mortgage and keep their money from the taxman. Everywhere taxes! This should be the rallying cry of Conservatives “Everywhere taxes; stop the madness; keep your money; vote Conservative”. Accompagnied, of course, with a program of reduction in income tax and eliminatioon of the Carbon tax, gasoline taxes and duties as well.

  38. I’m a Conservative – I’ve voted Conservative my entire life. I’ve never been so deeply troubled by the state of our country as I am under JT. I look wistfully at times at the prospect of Western Separation. A Western Separation that includes BC (I live in Metro Vancouver).

On this particular issue, I perceive a bit of divergence in the conservative voice between those in the Canadian Heartland and those on the Left Coast. Perhaps it’s partly a product of my living in MetroVan that I’m a bit more of a crunchy conservative than what I see expressed in this comment section.

I haven’t been a fan of O’Toole since even before the convention. If I had been a party member, I would’ve voted Lewis. Maybe we “could’ve had Max”, but my guess is that if we indeed got Max or Sloan, or perhaps even Lewis, we would have zero chance in the Federal Election because the urban conservatives would have been completely lost.

    Change my mind.

    1. Harper won on issues. He ran a conservative campaign where he promised to enact conservative policies and he won big time. You are about to see what happens when you run a campaign where you put no daylight between you and the opposition. Might as well vote for the real liberals than some balding fake libtard.

    2. I would rather see a Conservative party fail at the polls for being “too” conservative (more libertarian, less mushy middle totalitarian) than one that fails because they have censured all the factions of their formerly big tent and that they have no choice but to support the party candidate representing the mushy but slightly less enthusiastic supporter of big government than their competition – and where the censured have stayed home or split the vote with protest parties.

  39. Late to the party here on the Left Coast, but I’ve gotta throw my two cents in. The Globull Warming/Climate Change scare didn’t work, so we’ve got the mass vaccination scare going now. They didn’t scare enough sheep into line with the climate tax, but they’ve accomplished their objective with the Wuhan Flu. The Carbon tax was instituted to ‘make the big polluters pay’. All the sheep that bought that line didn’t realize that the big polluters just downloaded the cost to, wait for it, the sheep. Every single dollar that is added to the cost of production is paid for by the consumer, but the sheep don’t understand and there is the rub. These sheep will continue to bleet(d), but will continue to vote for the wolves that are ruling us. Pity that.

    1. Antenor,
What was it said about two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch?

  40. Canadians can’t vote our way out of this mess. And the alternatives are very unCanadian. I think we’re pretty much screwed.

  41. The only way Erin O’tool can eventually win on Carbon Tax is by promising to make it a visible tax.
Just like seeing the GST on your purchase receipt, and PST,,, there would be a third visible tax, Carbon Tax. All the way from the grower/manufacture, to the rail/trucking, to the retailer, each and all of the steps and with the carbon taxes passed on accumulating,,, to when you purchase something whether a product or groceries,,, you will then see on your receipt, a TOTAL CARBON TAX CHARGE.
Retailers may hate it, but if people were finally able to see what this is truly costing them,,, Canadians may finally think differently.

Playing the long game by doing this, would eventually get rid of the Carbon Tax, once and for all.

    1. Best idea yet. Shuts up the critics and lights a fuse under their butts.
The problem maybe – probably – otoole really wants to do the climate crap because he believes.

    2. “Canadians may finally think differently”,
Carl, that would require Canadians to actually think!

  42. The debate is over with Canada at 2% of that. IOW who cares. What does a carbon tax do besides create more revenue?
Why do we want to give the state more revenue? They’ve proven inept at handling our money time and time again.
They essentially waste every cent of every tax dollar they can get their mitts on, with service to the public trickling down.
That includes borrowing up to the ying yang every time and doubling down on any crisis, not wishing to miss an opportunity.
Start talking about real issues please. Canadians don’t care about climate change. Kill the carbon tax. It hurts the poor most.
Fix the nursing homes, fix the drinking water, fix the native issue overall, reform our tax system, it’s killing productivity.
And most of all end the reign of the commerce cretins now occupying influence in larger more intrusive government cliques.
That now includes the internet, since they’ve chosen to police what we consume rather than putting a product on the shelf.
It took western civilization over a thousand years to escape the shackles of absolute rule, and unparalleled prosperity ensued.
But neo-regal government courts, complete with jesters, have us nearly under their thumb, with unparalleled misery ensuing.
Only the voter can stop it, but they’ve consistently proven they’re not up to the task, easily fooled by bribery, spin and shame.
So who will crash and burn first and at what cost? Europe? The US? Canada? China now that Open Biden is their President?
But it may be bombs as well as commerce crashing as statists and collectivists crush productivity, their take starts to lessen.
Better raise taxes to ensure the “rich” pay their fair share. That included your family doctor who just move to Australia.
Of course it becomes incumbent on you to pay your fair share, which is what they can get out of you. Ballots or bullets?
So the public enterprises and crony capitalists will seek new markets to collect their lucre, domestically and abroad.
This creates competition for the serfs’ remaining possessions and in the end how far are we from having to all eat together?
Think of it as Lenin the the minus one, assuming you believe any of his claptrap about capitalism causing imperialism and war.

  43. If Wexit or Maverick run candidates in the federal election then they don’t understand anything about the political history of western Canada. Observing the federal political processes to closely is like sticking your nose to close to the canvas. You can’t see the whole picture.
The CCF, Socreds, Progressives and then Reform were all western “protest” movements that got caught up in The allusion that westerners could run federally and effect change.

It was a doomed strategy from the start.
I would only ever support and vote for Western Provincial separatist parties. All else is a waste of blood, sweat and treasure.

    1. Absolutely, 100% correct. The only thing Reform did was to give Uncle Jean majority after majority. (The sole consolation being that we didn’t have that idiot Kim Campbell as PM. Jean did a better job than that twit ever could)

If they did run federally, those that got elected would sit as a third or fourth party in the HOC watching a succession of liarberal governments. I guess the consolation there is that they could get a gold plated pension while the West gets screwed even mor. More than likely, they will end up splitting the vote causing even more liarberals or dippers to be elected in the West.

The only, and I mean only! solution is an independence movement at the provincial scale. NOW!!!!!!!
