While Trudeau may be acting like it, the funds for the CERB program simply can’t last forever. We have to transition out of it and soon. It looks like the program may be folded into a revised Employment Insurance system. If that happens, it will reduce the expenditures but it will also have the effect of immediately cutting off that large and growing population of addicts who have become very dependent on CERB in order to maintain their addictions. Then we will see things hit the fan.
Every decision made by governmensts the world over are mostly knee-jerk reactions to appear to be doing something useful to try and justify their existence.
Those solutions to problems are rarely thought about long enough or given to enough voices with contrary or varied points of view to weight the possibility of negative or costly unintended consequences.
This appears to be the running game plan for most liberally minded and socialist leaning people. And those are the ones who are largely in charge of our world today.

There are absolutely no reasons for the drug dens known as safe injection sites. Paramedics are getting tired of multiple trips usually to resuscitate the same person. Drug dens do nothing but further enable addicts.
It was reported by True North and Post Media that Dear Leader is spending $600,000 for “free” drugs for the Toronto drug dens. So far, the UCP government won’t do the same in Alberta.
Lieberals have this stupid position. In comments, they ask utterly stupid questions: “Do you think people ask to be addicts?” The correct answer is “YES!” No one accidentally gets addicted. One must voluntarily abuse drugs (or alcohol) to get addicted. No one has ever been standing there, minding their own business when all of a sudden a syringe full of heroin jabbed them in the arm. No one accidentally inhaled a pipeful of crystal meth.
Harm reduction is rehab, not enabling.
Mike, perhaps it’s time to consider a “three strikes” approach. In other words, known addicts would get two Narcan treatments. On the third episode paramedics would report it as a suicide.
Simply report is as a Covid-19 death then, works for all other deaths.
I don’t think people “ask” to be addicts, nor do they decide to become addicts. But they do become addicts. There’s a reason the term “pusher” came to be used to describe sellers of illegal recreational drugs. Getting you hooked on what they supply is the business plan. (It’s like government. Where are the measures to help these people ? What is the Government reaction to the Chinese slaughter of Turdholians through the importation of lethal Fentynol which is the cause of most deaths ? Nothing of course. Could the Turdhole Government be planning another cull of our population with the help of China, again ? The China Virus and Chinese fentynol are both allowed into the country without fight back from various levels of Government. The Liberal Government is enabling vulnerable and distressed people to kill themselves, surely all part of the Globalist plan, and yes it will get worse, and no nothing will be done to stop it. Most people will be locked up in their own prisons by Government dictate while the most vulnerable die on the streets. Turdhole will “self isolate” while the country burns. Yesterday, I heard on the radio that unemployment was running at ten point something percent. Yet the day before that, they announced that over 8 million Canadians had availed themselves of CERB funds.
Oh well, I’m sure that Singalong Singh or Tiger O’Toole would be all over this apparent discrepancy if it was actual.
Also keep in mind, the Official unemployment numbers only count those that are collecting UI.
Those that have dropped of the UI, no longer get counted, and some have been unemployed for years
