Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

This is a good idea: “How about an interview with Floyd’s victims?”
I worry though, that they would have to be put in a protection program afterwards.
Question to Ann Coulter. Or anyone (Kate?) that thinks there’s more to this that meets the eye. What exactly COULD of happened that we don’t know of yet that would justify the action of the cops? Floyd was on the ground handcuffed with a knee to the neck when the video starts. What in the world could have happened prior that would justify a knee to the neck for NINE minutes, two to three minutes in fact after one of the cops said there was no pulse. Anyone?
The Rodney King case is your answer. 13 second of video shows that the cops were way over the top. 2 minutes of video showed that the cops did the right thing in a measured escalation for a perp who would not stay down, and who shrugged off two taser blasts, and who was still swinging at the police. The other passengers in the car with Rodney were not touched.
We don’t know what happened before George was down on the ground. He had fentanyl and traces of methamphetamine in his system. His rap sheet includes armed robbery and assault (of a pregnant woman, in front of her kids).
Did he deserve to die? No. Did those killed by the protesters, including 2 black police officers, deserve to die? No. Should mob rule apply whenever there is a video that makes people angry? No. Do police get charged and arrested when they are caught breaking the law? Yes. Are all perpetrators of all crimes caught and charged? No. Should we burn down society because law enforcement is not perfect? No.
One question I haven’t seen answered from either of the autopsies is whether the synthetic opiod in his system killed him (or contributed to his death). To me that’s the difference between no charges, assault charges, or murder charges for the arresting officer.
Does this answer your question for why some of us wanted all the facts (particularly the tox screen) before we took action?
If you pay attention to the various videos you will notice everything was OK until when police went to put him in the car he refused and resisted ….. it was out of camera view , and a bit later he is face down on the pavement …. in other words there is more to the story than just an “innocent guy”
Speaking of Rodney King …. back in the day I was able to watch the whole video …. just like the jury who found the police innocent …. police had rather carefully got King flat on the ground …. trying to handcuff him …. 4 big policeman …. one on each arm and leg …. and King tossed ALL 4 of them off like rag dolls …. super human strength from the angel-dust drugs he was on ….. it was at that point they had to subdued him with Billy Clubs.
Main point I want to make is that NEVER ONCE did the media or TV stations ever show the complete video like the jury saw ….. and the result was the 6 days of the LA riots
Well put, Arnie. That’s the point of Ann’s piece, and you summarized it well.
