  1. When one finds oneself in a competition where the goal is to come up with a charmingly politically incorrect thing to say, as one so often is, one may say that when one finds oneself dealing with an infestation of rabid femininismists, one generally finds the most efficacious defense to be of the following class, after which they tend to scurry off, don’t you know: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQmmM_qwG4k&t=3m22s

    More tea, vicar?

        1. When regular posters disappear from this site, it is often easy to assume the worst. Glad to see you are still with us, Vitruvius… both literally and figuratively.

        2. I’ve lost the link to your website. Do you still have it going?

There were many things of note: documentary films, many were interesting, and the history of philosophy interviews by Brian McGee were two of my favourites.

    1. Hey look, it’s Rip Van Vitruvius!

I kid you not, just last week you came to mind from something we discussed maybe ten years ago. Go figure.

    1. I really wish when they report that they indicate what city (or county if rural) the numbers are.
It’s lazy journalism to list total cases per province when we know the majority of cases are in densely populated areas like Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. It’s misleading.

      1. Calgary 8x vs Edmonton now. Source of infection = High River Cargill meatery and TFW imports. Just down the road 35 km and concentrated in my subdivision ’cause when Cargill was hiring my subdivision was the last one leaving Calgary city limits and they live chock a block, crammed into one house on subdiv streets. Nothing but grass south of me back then.Their families shop the same grocery store my wife and I go to and even man the cash registers now. They’ve reached “Gold Mountain”.
Wash yore hands and don’t rock the gravy boat. Go here for a pictorial: https://covid19stats.alberta.ca/
Click on “geospatial” and then on “local geographic area” on the map. Brooks Alberta is the same.
The media won’t touch this with a barge pole.

    2. Hey joe, many professionals are now saying 0.1 to 0.2% fatality rate world wide. It’s out there for anyone to find.

      1. OWG

For clarification, is the fatality rate you mentioned a percentage of the population, or a percentage of people who get the virus?

        1. It is impossible to calculate an accurate fatality rate without first having an accurate infection rate. Because of the wide variation of symptoms people are showing and the fact testing is still somewhat in it’s infancy, I believe we will have no reliable infection/fatality rates for some time to come.

          1. Check the Iceland numbers. They have tested roughly 10% to 15% of their population. They seem to be doing quite well. No mass panic or collapsing health-care systems there. Being isolated and having one airport also helped.

        2. Percentage of people who got the virus. That number seems to hold no matter where the numbers on the ground are crunched, not computer projections.

    3. Both death rate and infected rate are cooked numbers.
Health Canada issued an edict weeks ago to all hospitals that any death that presented Covid symptoms is ascribed as Covid as the cause of death. Any deaths!
The number of infected is relative to testing. The reality is there are far more people infected and are asymptomatic than they are willing to admit.
What this journo doesn’t say is that over 85% of infected over the age of 80 live.
All that said, private and public LTC’s are notoriously understaffed, have very poor infection prevention protocols and have minimal oversight.
Mind you, they drop like flies in LTCs during flu season and no one gives a shit

  2. File this under “You’ve got to be F******g kidding me!
    https://www.cp24.com/news/eu-rallies-canada-allies-to-help-who-after-trump-temporarily-withdraws-funding-1.4911624

No doubt Li’l Tater Head will pull out all the stops to fill the shortage caused by the big ole meanie Orange Man. It’ll give Li’l Tater Head another brownie point in his quest for a Security Seat, and no doubt the morons who voted for Li’l Tater Head will applaud and congratulate him. As for the rest of us, well, we’ll all bitch and moan while the Liberals dig deeper into our pockets! When do we get out the pitchforks and tumbrils?

    1. Here is more “You’ve got to be f*****g kidding me” Canada’s top doctor? I think not.
      https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/herd-immunity-should-not-be-supported-tam-says-1.5545332?fbclid=IwAR2VjfWVpL02r6JHoUteX94Hvs8kFfs3E2JEXRzziFoxaEky9kPOzQInxXs

“Canada’s top doctor says there isn’t enough evidence to back herd immunity as a way to reopen society, as Quebec’s premier is considering the approach to restart his province’s economy.

“The idea of … generating natural immunity is actually not something that should be undertaken,” Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer Theresa Tam said Saturday, urging people to be “extremely cautious” about the concept.”

      1. That would be Dr. WHO or Dr. TAM? I know who and don’t believe a thing that comes from either of them.

        1. As she is, or was, an advisor to the WHO, and follows their edicts religiously, then Dr. Who is appropriate.

          1. Dr. Who likes humans and fights for them. I’m not so sure about Dr. WHO.

          2. But BADR, timelords can regenerate 9 times (have 10 faces, including the original). So what kind of evil anti-human doppelganger is using the name now? What are they at, 12?

          3. C_Miner:

They’re at the last one now, played by Jodie Whittaker. Yeah, PC finally made the Doctor a female, and it’s apparently not gone over all that well, apparently. (I stopped watching the current version of DW part-way through David Tennant’s run.)

They might try something like what happened with the Master about 40 years ago. He was originally played by Roger Delgado, but the actor was killed in a car accident, so his character never appeared in the series until near the end of Tom Baker’s tenure. In that, the Master was in his 12th incarnation and had been seriously injured but, instead of regenerating, he took over someone else’s body. That character, played by Anthony Ainley, appeared regularly in the show after that.

          4. I learned something today. Many thanks!

And Capaldi and Whittaker killed the franchise, IMHO.

      2. The whole idea of a social/economic shutdown is to “flatten the curve”. To remind everyone(listening, leftards?) what “flatten the curve” means, it is to slow new infection cases from becoming so great that they absolutely overwhelm our medical services, as we witnessed this horror in some other countries. There is no stopping this virus, but as the near-empty field and ship hospitals in US hotspots have demonstrated, it can definitely be slowed with appropriate measures.

We will ALL have to deal with this virus eventually, killing our economies to merely slow this inevitability is stupid as hell and ultimately pointless. Big box stores have shown they can safely operate with appropriate restrictions, there is now no reason for most ‘non-intimate’ businesses not to open.

Unless, of course, you are a liberal who hates western culture. I see many leftards recognize these lockdowns as the unique opportunity/excuse they are to wreak further damage to western societies and to conduct a major experiment to see how many of our rights and freedoms we serfs are willing to have stolen from us before resisting. You can be sure they are diligently taking notes.

      3. “The idea of… generating natural immunity is actually not something that should be undertaken.”
Thank you Mr. Tam for letting us know the position of the Chinese Communist Government with regards to the herd immunity theory… thanks Mr. Tam… is criticizing Mr. Tam still ‘racist” ?

  3. Testing is a big draw now. We have moved the goal posts from flatten the curve, to something like triple the testing. But testing is only good if you know what to do with the data. It will inflate the cases numbers, oohhh scary, but are you dealing with more hospital cases? More ICU cases? Those metrics are more important than the raw number of positive tests. The testing has to then focus on contact tracing and containment to be useful. So just testing 3 times more people isn’t going to do any good unless you focus that testing on contact and containment. But I imagine our politicians just want to get numbers to show they are doing something.

My other concern about testing is that testing someone today is a great snapshot of today. Tomorrow, or next week, that negative can become a positive, how do we determine retesting? Just doing lots of test isn’t as effective as doing focused testing, I would think.

Also, at this point, I think every health reporter should know to discount the W.H.O. advice. It has been terrible during this pandemic, and is starting to sound more strident and unreliable as we go. The idea that herd immunity may not be possible is floating around, how in the hell is a vaccine supposed to help if that is the case? And the 60% number you see in all the stories is based on an estimate of the R0. Herd immunity goes up and down with R0, so less than 60% is a possible number, they just omit that. Maybe herd immunity is gained at 50%, or 45%, or 67%, no one knows for sure. But if herd immunity is becoming suspect, then why bother working on a vaccine?

    1. Good question re the vaccine. It is astonishing that some health “experts” like Tam are dismissing herd immunity. Some idiot academic in Toronto was proposing volunteers get themselves injected with the virus as a method of helping herd immunity. Now my idea is how about letting the population develop herd immunity as they always have. Open up the country and let “volunteers” go about their business.

    1. No it doesn’t. It actually exposes how costly lack of trade and immigration are. It’s doing the same thing to the anti-oil agenda.

  4. https://www.bizpacreview.com/2020/04/25/historic-first-muslim-call-to-prayer-blasted-in-major-us-city-over-outdoor-speaker-5-times-a-day-912836

Historic first in USA. The Muslim call to prayer is being announced over loud speakers in Minneapolis 5 times a day. Thank you Ilhan Omar, for bringing diversity to Minneapolis!

I hope this happens soon in redneck Saskatoon. I have optimism. I usually hate the pigs, but when Saskatoon’s Abu Sheikh was brutally attacked by white nationalists, the police immediately leapt into action and rightfully denounced the people of Saskatoon as bigots, and went over to the poor oppressed Muslim’s house and gave him gifts. This happened a couple of years ago, but I am sure the police will arrest these (MAGA hat wearing?) white supremacists soon!

    1. Pat, here in Fredericton, NB churches are not allowed to ring church bells on Sunday morning. I wonder if the churches are allowed to ring bells in Minneapolis?

      1. David Murrell. I hope not. Christians should not be able to force their fantasies on the public!

  5. Great news for taxpayers. Big Chief Gay Eagle With No Balls will not be having his press conference today. No millions being thrown out the door. I wonder why his loyal, drooling media lackies never ask him why he announces money giveaways every day, instead of just releasing on one day a comprehensive plan of programs and funding. I’m sure it has nothing to do with politics.

    1. Wondering where he is spending his Sunday off? Wouldn’t have tripped up to our “summer house”?
      Anyone know?

  6. And now the Liberal Party’s bought and paid for Sunday Toronto Star. Numerous stories that Trump is ten times worse than Hitler, Stalin, and Mao combined. Heather Mallick explains that this virus crisis is the perfect time to develop a new political and economic system to prepare for the real war, against global warming. Stories that anyone who says negative things about Blackie’s Peking Tam, is a racist bastard. Especially Conservative politicians who we already know are racist bastards. Story that Vietnam is wonderful at combating the virus because of its wonderful one party Leninist system. Blackie is wonderful, the Liberal Party is wonderful, communism is wonderful, Islam is wonderful, Indians need more money, Canadians are racist bastards.

  7. Anyone starting to feel like we are living in a dictatorship? How far will it go as weeks become months?

    1. At the start of all this, I said the cure was worse than the disease. But it`s not bad news for some, those who don`t have to work and still get paid; Liberals are having great fun distributing largesse.

    2. Fatso Fascist Ford and John the Tit Tory don’t like the fact that people at Queen’s Park yesterday protested being herded and restricted like animals, that elective surgeries have disappeared, that some people are going to lose their homes, blah, blah, blah.

“And God forbid one of them ends up in the hospital,” Ford said.

      Why? They’re empty.
Coming in the fall the next emergency alert everybody gets will be to “Shelter in Place” because another flu has come along and because provincially paid health care professionals want us to live forever… in abject poverty.

Remember, not one single person in the state-run health care industry has had their income reduced by a penny. In fact, they’ll probably all get juicy raises because of the coming wave of inflation. Did some get sick and die? I don’t care.

The next health care boo hooer who says they’re afraid to go to work can FOAD. Alone. F’n cherry picking A-holes obviously only want to help people when its guaranteed sunny, safe and warm for them. Take up another calling if you want zero risk.

      Have a nice day.

      1. Don’t worry. Be Happy!
        You’re Canadian.

1.Your politicians are financially and morally incompetent.
        2. Your Media is biased, partisan and dishonest.
        3. Waiting for the police to save you may cost you your life.

        And most important to remember.
Plus ca change, plus c’est la meme chose.
Cause your owners like it that way.

  8. You know there’s a problem when emergency rooms are empty and they’re begging people to go to go to hospital if you have a problem. If they are looking for business to keep their jobs they can blame the political profits of doom and their experts who come out with conflicting information daily.
Will masks and gloves be in or out is the question of the day.

    1. I suspect many people know that going to a hospital is a good way to catch an infection, especially one as transmissible as the Wuhan flu.

  9. Now comes the Food Inflation part of the collapse. Pull out enough Jenga pieces and well you know what happens. And this is widespread not just in the USA but Canada as well. Most if not all of Alberta’s beef processing is shut down. Seems the high quality Foreign Worker program is bringing the Chinese Virus as part of the lower wages package. Much of the virus in Southern Alberta is from Foreign Workers. https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/farms-across-delmarva-cull-millions-chickens-amid-virus-related-staff-shortages-processing

  10. Liz J. There are no masks and gloves easily found. Nor Clorox, Lysol. paper products, and soon imo other shortages. yymv according to where you live and rationing is in effect with paper products. Inflation is real, especially if you listen to John Williams of Shadow Stats. However pot will be delivered in Blackie’s post national State. I’m calling him a psychopath instead of a sociopath, because he relishes the suffering of Canadians while destroying the purchasing power of our savings. He works less every day as does that dreadful House of Commons who refuse to put their butts in Parliament but collect their $200,00 at least in salary and benefits. PARASITES.

Hubby was watching Dr. Tam at some presser yesterday as he was making beds. She read a speech in homage to a Canadian doctor blah blah. Then the NEXT Medical EXPERT gets up and reads the SAME SPEECH word for word. In real time. No comments, no reporter questions, nada. The perfect example of gross incompetence and depraved indifference combined with Presstitutes who get paid to ignore reality.
These are malicious and anti-human puppets of Chinese masters and UN malevolent
dictators. So yes, I’m noticing a dictatorship ever since no-show McGuinty was Premier of Ontario for years. They hold us in complete contempt. Ford would never have allowed a gong show appearance like the one with Dr. Tam. Govern your own household accordingly. This is an economic Depression we are living in. Negative prices for oil are screaming that we have unstable markets.

    1. The repetition in the speeches is very odd. Suggests things are being carefully orchestrated (with a screw up this time). Who was the Dr. being honoured? Why — has he invented something to deal with the virus? Did the second Dr. work with Tam? I would like to know more about this.

  11. Guy questions the Nova Scotia shootings and exposes what Canadians really think about their government.

“I’m just asking questions or is that illegal now?”

“you can’t stop people from blocking railways”
“you can’t investigate the Prime Minister’s Office for corruption”
“you can’t stop lunatics from mass murdering people in the streets”
“what do we pay you for exactly?”

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpKmhDW3iQI&feature=youtu.be

  12. Here in New Brunswick, there are zero Wuhan virus deaths, three in hospital and zero in ICU. Hospitals are operating at 70% capacity. Yet the province is only opening up very slowly. As of last Thursdsy we can adopt one mutual “bubble family”, to visit and pal around with. So my wife has a bubble church lady friend, and went to the cabin to begin opening it up.

On a related note, for a week now the feds have been running a second ad, featuring astronaut Cris Hatfield, Haley Wickenheiser and Dr. Tam. Three heroes for Canafians to believe. As well this last month we have been watching a whole slew of touvhy-feely corporate ads, telling us about how giving they are, and how we should wash our hands and keep social distances.

    1. Watch too much Canadian TV and you’ll be convinced your significant other must be a different color.
      Be mixed or be square.

    2. That is extremely interesting David.

As we say about “climate change”, that it’s not about the climate, it’s safe to say that the extreme lockdown and shelter in place monstrosity is not really about health.

In the whole of BC there have been 100 deaths.

    3. I have not seen the ads as I seldom watch Canadian TV, but the approach is so banal, Identifying people that the “government” thinks are social influencers and using them to promote their message. The “heroes” will have been paid big bucks for this, and unconsciously we are supposed to associate these “heroes” with Dr. Tam, and of course obey their message. I can just picture the bureaucrats who planned this. It is a collossal waste of money. They could have used a simple PSA to get the message out, and most people will go along because they are concerned about the virus.

  13. And now the Liberal Party’s CBC Political Scrum Show this morning. So far the Unifor journalists explain that the shootings in Nova Scotia happened because Canadian men are sexist bastards who hate women.

  14. Buddy: Your comment about lockdown theatre to be repeated in the future now that our rulers have taken our measure as hyper-compliant cowering sheeple.

Soon after the begining of the hysteria the Vancouver Parks Board closed all the parking lots along beautiful Spanish Banks mostly with makeshift temporary log barriers. However, now, new concrete bollard type posts and steel gates have been installed at both entrances to 6-7 parking lots.

This clearly foreshadows a future of repeated lockdowns and “shelter in place” orders. The climatistas are orgasmic.

    1. That is scary. In Ottawa, they have closed NCC parking lots. The upshot is that now in some areas people are forced to park on a busy road and cross this at some risk in order to access the trails where people are still allowed to walk — but of course not sit on a bench. It was foolish to close the parks and particularly frustrating for the population in Spring. They could easily just have just prohibited large gatherings and cordoned off play equipment.

      1. Any kind of trouble that befalls Ottawa be it a pox, parking spots as you say or anything else that might screw up those liberal loving pricks makes my day

    2. Governments are rubbing their be-shitted hands like cunning lords of flies.
The media is compliant with the “new normal” and are pushing the narrative of permanent boundaries.
“Public lockdown” is presented as protective and caring. How Orwellian.

There are many who would trade their liberty for (a false sense of) security.
      Thankfully not everyone is like-minded.
But the future may see public mischief or non-compliance considered a terroristic threat.

The Black-faced Prime Minister of Canada:
“It is very clear that the science is not decided on whether or not having had COVID once prevents you from having it again,” he told reporters. “It’s something we need to get clearer answers to and until we get those clearer answers, we need to err on the side of more caution.”

    1. “South Yemen is back.”

Yea, hopefully those armored vehicles Trudeau sold to Saudi Arabia get to tromp some of them to dust. Well not too fine a dust we can always sell more if they need 🙂

  15. Can you imagine the Constipated Conniption Fits In Ottawa. Baby Doc, and Tam of the Clan of the Cave Bear are going to lose their shit. SMOKING TOBACCO reduces your chances of catching the virus. So go buy a big old Churchill and elbow those Dope Smokers out of the way. SMOKING TOBACCO is good for you. LMFAO.
The Dumb Bastard’s were wrong again.
    https://www.zerohedge.com/health/world-about-panic-hoard-nicotine-products-after-frances-promising-coronavirus-study

    1. Watcher The author of State of Fear touches on that very thing in a thread above:
“All my life I worried about the decay of the environment, the tragic loss of species, the collapse of ecosystems. I feared poisoning by pesticides, alar on apples, falling sperm counts from endocrine disrupters, cancer from power lines, cancer from saccharine, cancer from cell phones, cancer from computer screens, cancer from food coloring, hair spray, electric razors, electric blankets, coffee, chlorinated water…it never seemed to end.
Only once, when on the same day I read that beer was a preservative of heart muscle and also a carcinogen did I begin to sense the bind I was in.”

    1. Excellent and very informative video on Covid.

Do yourself a favor and watch and learn.

      No fear.

    2. Yes — interesting video. 11,000+ comments. Some very interesting also. Thanks for posting.

  16. Since we are illogical racist bastards, is there any logic involved? What percent of Alberta’s Whuan flu cases involve Canadian born Albertans? I’m guessing it is less than 10% and the government will never collect those statistics. Kill off all our old people so we can save a nickel at Tim Horton’s. What a great idea.

  17. Here is another article to enter under the “No Sh*t, Sherlock!” file.

    https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/goldstein-big-government-failed-in-covid-19-pandemic

I’ve said here many a time that governments first order of business is to protect the society that elected it. The Liberals have been a monumental failure in this endeavour. They have always failed Canadians but this latest screw up should wake a great many Canadians out of their stupor. When this virus first made an appearance Trudeau was in Africa giving away more taxpayer money. Now we have reached the bottom of the Mariana Trench and the Liberals are not satisfied they want to excavate deeper. Our veterans were asking for more than we can afford but the Liberal compassion for Third world countries made sure that there was plenty of money for foreign aid. Well the next group on the Liberal altar of compassion is the seniors that have for all intents and purposes bought and paid for our society with the taxes and sacrifices they have made over the last forty years of their working lives. This boondoggle of government bailout will be extracted from the seniors who saved and sacrificed to ensure their own well being in their later years. For those of you who are retired or approaching retirement and voted for Liberals all of your lives understand that you are about to be kicked under the bus. The generations of graduates of arts and women’s studies that are expecting the largest turnover of wealth in human history from their parents are about to get a tremendous shock of reality.

  18. Apparently, China has nationalized 3x Medicom factories. The current government had not objected to that. Anyone?

58 clicks through the captcha. You are nuts.

  19. I think it’s shameful that everyone is giving the Clown Prince such flak for his latest dress-up.

Don’t you people realize that playing Johnny Appleseed and spreading money everywhere like seeds is an investment in your future?

Junior is in process of making you all millionaires, maybe even billionaires!

The zeros aren’t on the money yet, but they’re coming.

  20. Among the many China is wonderful stories today, Blackie’s CBC reports on how “progressive” Islam is becoming. Saudi Arabia will no longer chop off the heads of children who break the law. Happy Ramadan Ding Dong.

  21. The “Strongrr Together” telethon starts soon, at 6:30 p.m. One star appearing is Margaret Atwood! Wow! Gee!

And Rick Mercer too!! And David Suzuki!!

    1. Won’t be watching. I hate Rick Mercer (never funny) and the big phoney Suzuki. Why even have him on? Also, isn’t “Stronger Together” Hillary’s motto in the last campaign? Seems an odd choice for that reason.

    1. So deaths in Italy from Wuhan virus:

      98.9% were 70 and older
      84% were 60 and older

Lombardy is the region of Italy with the most virus deaths; 13106.

      Under age 60 deaths = 142
      60 and over deaths = 12964

Lombardy population under 60 is 6 million. So deaths are 0.002% of population under 60

Lombardy population 60 and older is 2.9 million. So deaths are 0.4% of population over 60.

Major CAUTION: not everyone in these age groups has caught the disease. If we ASSUME that infection rate was 10% of the population in each age group, then multiply the death percentages above by 10 to get; 0.2% for under 60 and 4% for 60 and older.

  22. The 2018 quebek election identified the treatment of seniors in nursing homes.

Frank Legault who became premier ran on a platform of dealing with the issue. Once elected he of course forgot his commitment.

One thing the chicom virus has proven is our shoddy treatment of seniors in nursing homes.

Legault has blood on his hands. Once fwenchy figures this out look for a new traitor in the premiers office.

    1. Good analysis of the situation with care homes by Randal Denley in the National Post the other day. Lots of factual information. Homes for the elderly were totally neglected under Wynne, but the Ford Government is increasing capacity and making improvements in the system– even before the Covid issue. Wynne and her government were more interested in throwing money at Green energy. The media as a rule is not interested in improvements made by Ford.

    1. Fine if they want to issue their warnings about a drug that is already approved, but there was no need to go on and on about Trump’s comments and mention the fish tank incident. You are right. TDS. Now pick up any prescription drug and you will most likely have a similar list of possible side effects.

  23. Trudeau, the son of a ….. will naturally always have more and more immigration to Canada. He has made promises to the immigrants in exchange for their Liberal vote. The larger the government the less freedom there is for everyone, it’s a given. Question is, where to put them all.

Mark my words they’ll be housed in former Assisted Living Quarters once the Seniors are all dead. No pensions to pay. Double bonus pour le Gouvernement.

Never forget how he treated Madame Madame in Quebec, yet the spoiled brat came back to be P.M. le Maudit.

Stay healthy, my friends, for they will mandate a death pill instead of an operation to fix what ails you pretty soon.

    Please forgive le funk mood.
