  1. Emmylou is and always has been the sweetheart of the rodeo. That was a classic clip from back in 1977 with Rodney Crowell singing harmony. Emmylou and Rodney have recorded a couple of fine albums in recent years. These are people who write and play melodies and lyrics that are all too invisible these days, unless you know where to find it. Etc.

      1. At least one crime, as the lead sentence on the article states.
Further down it states that most of these are violence, vandalism, and theft.

      2. Read the post before being snarky. From paragraph 4 of the post, “…convicted of violence, vandalism and theft”. So there you go.

        1. He doesn’t like it when somebody says something negative about his buddies.

          1. Gentlemen (above and below), please, UnMe had an honest question. Our retarded amoeba tried to sound out the article but with his attention span by the middle of the second paragraph he forgot what the first one was about. You people need to be more tolerant to those with cognitive disabilities.

      3. “Convicted of what?”

“convicted of a crime such as violence, vandalism, and theft before the age of 30”

        Illiterate moron.

  2. I’m not much of a fan of country & western music, but I do listen to just about anything by Emmylou Harris. What a voice!

While on the subject of her earlier songs, I like this one:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzuSeaMy-aU

Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt–what a combination!

I’m not surprised at LR singing on this. Several years ago, I bought a budget CD package with had all of the albums she recorded for Capitol Records. She sang with a number of well-known singers in the folk rock/country scene in California. I had no idea that she worked with Don Henley and Glen Frey before they formed the Eagles.

    1. “Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt . . .”

Linda, of course, became famous as front, but she was perhaps the finest backup harmony singer there has ever been. Now throw in Dolly for a Trio. Oh my. If they’d only done a couple of cuts with Hoyt Axton for some low end. Check out Hoyt and Linda on Lion in the Winter.

        1. Some trivia.

Emmylou was married to super producer Brian Ahern. He’s a little known Canadian god in the music business.

        1. “You’re full of shit!”

“Excuse me, but you are quite mistaken!”

The latter would be the ‘presidential’ response, but yet again, Dems don’t hold their own to the phony standards they demand of any Republican.

  3. Batteries won’t clean up the electrical grid.

    https://getpocket.com/explore/item/the-2-5-trillion-reason-we-can-t-rely-on-batteries-to-clean-up-the-grid?utm_source=pocket-newtab

“Batteries run into real problems. The authors of the 2016 study found steeply diminishing returns when a lot of battery storage is added to the grid. They concluded that coupling battery storage with renewable plants is a “weak substitute” for large, flexible coal or natural-gas combined-cycle plants, the type that can be tapped at any time, run continuously, and vary output levels to meet shifting demand throughout the day.”

“Not only is lithium-ion technology too expensive for this role, but limited battery life means it’s not well suited to filling gaps during the days, weeks, and even months when wind and solar generation flags.”

“This problem is particularly acute in California”…

where they are attempting to try it.

      1. A favourite from…
Dire Straits’ fame Mark Knopfler with Emmylou Harris–
        “So Far Away”

Always loved it when the Sopranos ended the show with a terrific song that was fitting to the script. Like “Oh Girl” when Tony was in love with the tragic little brunette with the great smile.

I wish they would do a Sopranos Part Deux, the latest shenanigans going on everywhere albeit with a twist would make good script.

  4. Why was team Trudeau talking only with five “hereditary” chiefs?

Because team Trudeau want to shut down the Coastal Gas Link project. How (since it is a provincial project)?

Create so much friction and delay that the project proponents quit.

Meanwhile the 80% of the Wet’suwet’en who approve the project, the elected chiefs, and the hereditary chiefs who were deposed get no voice with the Feds.

    https://nationalpost.com/news/politics/pipeline-project-was-hijacked-by-group-of-five-guys-former-wetsuweten-hereditary-chief-tells-mps

    1. They’ve opened a plague box with this one. All over the country Chief Shit Disturbers could be planning and plotting to overthrow elected councils.

    2. If it wasn’t for “hereditary chiefs” we might not have any Indian chiefs at all!

Justin and the ‘progressives’, people smarter than him, planned it exactly this way, and they’re pulling it off thanks to their bought and paid for media.

      1. Re First Nations; Environmentalists will do the following to stop a project.

        1. Approach hereditary chiefs
        2. Approach elected chiefs
        3. Approach those who lost the election for chief
        4. Approach elders
        5. Approach young band members

It’s quite simple, you progress down this list until you find an ally. You might have to pay them, but you’ll almost always find someone.

  5. National Post reports that a coalition has formed between the Bloc and the Liberals. The Bloc joined Blackie to stop further investigation into the Lavalin scandal.

    1. And if Conservatives had functioning testicles they would have used it to win Ontario while keeping the West and thus win the majority, but they do not, so they will not.

    2. The CP doesn’t want to set any precedent they may have to follow themselves in the future; Saame suits; different colors.

    3. The readers on here pointed out the Bloc would go along with any liberal cover up some months ago and apparently they were correct

      1. Terry, I agree.

Question is what side deal did the Liberals make with the Bloc?

        Any SDA readers know?

        Perhaps more equalization?

    4. The day after the election I knew and predicted that Trudeau would have a full 4 year minority. The Bloc aren’t going to vote to lose their jobs and put an Anglo in the Prime Minister’s seat. Their best hope is to sneak in another 2 years and get pensions.

  6. Probably Nothing
    https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/live-updates-as-us-coronavirus-cases-top-1000-mixed-signs-of-recovery-in-china-south-korea/ar-BB111aGZ?ocid=spartanntp

Yesterday China reported only 24 new cases. And 22 new deaths. Great ratio.
There are still over 15,000 who haven’t recovered in China meaning they’ve been sick for weeks or more meaning the ratio is bullshit.

But we do know kids don’t get sick so…
“In Atlantic Canada, New Brunswick’s education minister ordered all preschoolers and students returning from travel abroad to stay out of school for two weeks. School trips are also cancelled for the rest of the year.”

  7. The Unifor journalists at the Liberal Party’s iPolitics website, reports that veterans are upset that Blackie has transferred four million dollars from the Veteran’s Affairs budget. As Great Leader has said, those vets are always asking for too much. Environmental groups, Indians, and social justice churches, are proclaiming that Justin’s new global warming policies in the upcoming budget will improve Canada’s economics. And now your Alberta tax money at work. Quebec announced that it will commit over six billion dollars to green energy scams.

  8. Could I beg a favour from everyone? Spread this far and wide – let’s see if we can get it to go viral. From Instapundit and the Babylon Bee, America’s “newspaper of record”:

“HEY, GUYS, SHARE THIS ON FACEBOOK, THEN SEE HOW MANY OF YOUR LIBERAL FRIENDS BELIEVE IT AND GO INSANE SAYING CORONAVIRUS IS NO BIG DEAL… Trump Cancels 2020 Election Over Coronavirus Concerns. (Oh, come on. if we can’t have fun with them, what good are they?)”

  9. Bernie Sanders Is a Born Loser Who Won’t Fight Like a Real Marxist

    https://www.breitbart.com/2020-election/2020/03/10/nolte-bernie-sanders-is-a-born-loser-who-wont-fight-like-a-real-marxist/

“If you poke at a newborn kitten, it will at least try to give you a swat. Not Bernie. Oh, no… the establishment can poke him, rob him, bend him over a table and steal the nomination from him, and all this soft, little limousine Marxist will say is “Joe Biden’s a good man.”

Who does he think he is, Mitt Romney?

Bernie Bros? This is your guy? Really? Was a wet noodle not available? Next time, just run a guy in a Minnie Mouse costume.”

  10. Mark Knopfler is one of the best guitarists in modern history! No wonder others, like Eric Clapton choose to play with him.. This is the last half of one of my favorite Dire Straits songs, From the album Love Over Gold, that really showcases his incredible talent. Bonus: Mr. Horsepower on drums..
    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gjJzlIedCuo
Mark also wrote the song Private Dancer for Tina Turner, if you listen to the song Love Over Gold, from the album mentioned above, you can hear the Inklings of the melody..

  11. Meanwhile, the pro-China press kept the gullible distracted for three years with fairy stories about how Donald Trump was a Russian agent while Chinese researchers armed with western science degrees worked tirelessly and unmolested on agents of bioterrorism.

Taken as a whole, it is the work of an evil genius.

  12. My wife’s niece and her husband just returned from Japan yesterday. Landed in Toronto then using Porter Airlines flew on the Halifax. No one at either airport or in Halifax asked them anything about their travels, quarantine procedure, nothing. Oh Canada!

    1. O’Regan has the sniffles so he’s self-isolating

Maybe he fell off the wagon. Being a useless cabinet minister is hard work and he might have needed to unwind.

  13. “Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to announce changes to the employment insurance benefit program this morning to help workers who are forced to stay home from their jobs as COVID-19 spreads,” CBC reports.

No word on levying new taxes on the Overseas Chinese community or new tariffs on Chinese imports to pay for any of this, obviously. Only fools and white people pay taxes.

Oh, Ottawa civil servants and Bay Street parasites are rubbing their hands with glee at the prospect of a two-week sickie to spend drinking, watching porn, and cursing President Trump on Internet message boards. Only people who work for a living are facing foreclosures, called-in business loans and ruined credit thanks to Chinese bioterror.

  14. U.S. heavy equipment makers, hurt by tariffs, vow to make them top election theme

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trade-equipment/u-s-heavy-equipment-makers-hurt-by-tariffs-vow-to-make-them-top-election-theme-idUSKBN20X1E4

“The top 10 countries that export construction equipment to the United States gained 9% in market share over the past year, largely due to a loss of competitiveness for domestic producers as tariffs pushed up the cost of imported parts and steel and forced many to raise prices, according to a report seen by Reuters that was set for release on Tuesday by the IHS Market research group.”

““The benefits of tax reform and regulatory change have largely been canceled out” by trade policy, said Dennis Slater, AEM’s president.”

““Because of tariffs, I had to shift that work to India — then export from India to Brazil,” said Austin Ramirez, the company’s CEO.”

  15. Blackie The Gay Pirate just talked to his loyal media about the China virus. He wants all of us to wash our hands. WERE SAVED! Expect glowing reviews from his CBC and the Toronto Star.

  16. I do believe that would be an Act of War – and an attack with Weapons of Mass Destruction, at that.

“May you live in interesting times”…

  17. I just got home from Ontario late last night.
Hit 4 airports- saw one mask in Winnipeg.
Stayed with a friend who attended the big mining convention in Toronto a week ago. They just announced there was an attendee at the conference who had the chicom virus. Guess that’s possible when you have people from 100 countries there.

  18. National Post website reports on how China’s Confucius Institute has signed agreements with universities across Canada. The agreement includes universities following Chinese law and government policies.

    1. I recently read a Globe article where Laurence Martin said “women make up about 60% of Democratic primary voters”. (Sorry I read the print version of the March 5 Globe so no link)

I guess this means Democratic women are sexist. It could also mean that were no qualified female candidates.

But personally I say it means none of the above.

Instead women are now discovering what most men know; there are often a lot of fully qualified people trying for jobs and for political office. The majority will not get there.

Women have often said they didn’t get the job or office because they were women. Now they are discovering what most men know; competition is fierce, luck is often involved, and the “best” person often doesn’t get the job.

Ladies, welcome to the real world.

    2. A more likely possibility our media can’t comprehend but ordinary people can is is that she is a proven liar like Hillary, and a man caught so verifiably full of shit and gaming the race card system would be disqualified, but it is not a problem for those who are fans of “The Vagina Idealogues”.

I heard about a Jeep dealership having an Elizabeth Warren sale on it’s used car lot for anyone interested in buying an old all white Cherokee.

  19. https://www.zerohedge.com/political/harvey-weinstein-gets-23-years-prison-sex-crimes

Interesting comment. Don’t know that it is true, but suspect it is, given our misandrist times.

” Maia said she watched TV on the couch “for about 10 minutes,“ while Mann and Weinstein went into a room “and closed the door.”

She testified that Mann never asked her for help and that Mann did not seem upset afterward.

“She seemed OK,” Maia said of Mann.

That’s the testimony of the woman in the other room when the alleged “rape” happened. After this “rape” Mann dated Weinstein and was constantly seeking his company, bragged to friends about threesomes with him and had on-and-off consensual sexual encounters with Weinstein for years.”

Stab your husband to death and get house arrest.

23 years for being your normal everyday ugly Hollywood Left Liberal at the wrong time.

    1. The stupid a-hole should have become a Democrat politician as soon as he suspected they would lay charges. All evidence shows he would be walking around free today if he had made the move to become an ‘untouchable’.

    2. There is nothing political in politics, always financial. What you see here is a campaign, designed to criminalize normal heterosexual relationship in order to commercialize procreation. When men will be totally afraid of normal relationships, exorbitantly expensive artificial fertilization will become a mainstream business. Follow the money trail and look deep. Remember: no one is stupid, no one is driven by ideology. It is always about money, disruption, and wealth redistribution.

Claiming rape after years of consensual relationships is weird. Every weird act requires scrutiny. If there is no scrutiny and things become even more weird in the courtroom, then there is something behind it.

Every time you – conservatives, I am talking to you – feel the urge to call your opponents stupid, pause and think, who really is stupid. Do not let them play on your emotional strings. Always remember of what they really are after – it is your wealth and your ability to create it that they lack.

  20. Do you know that there is an easy form on the PM office web site that allows everyone to contact the Chief Gay Eagle?

    https://pm.gc.ca/en/connect/contact

But what is more interesting is the text underneath the form:

“Many Canadians choose to offer gifts to the Prime Minister and his family. These are kind and generous gestures. However, the Trudeau family believes that this goodwill would be better directed towards community, charity and family.”

It took my senile brain a little while to figure out what kinds of gifts they do not want to receive.
They are gifts that go boom. Canadians, especially those who have lost their jobs across the country courtesy of Just In Turd would be totally justified in sending things to the PM, thus the warning. Life is so unpredictable.

    Send him your love!

  21. I have a great idea.

Right now in Alberta we are seeing a melt-down of the oil & gas sector. While the producers are hurting and will certainly scale back on production AND capital expenditure (don’t even talk about drilling new wells) the service sector (drilling companies, well completion etc) are going to get crushed.

There are thousands of orphaned wells in Alberta and at current rates of closure it would take decades to clean them all up. Let’s not talk about new orphaned wells that are likely to appear given the current economic climate.

My idea is … Federal and Provincial governments announce a major stimulus package to plug abandoned wells and complete land reclamation in Alberta. The service providers would bid on this work at a 10% discount to their standard rates. At the same time (and as a condition of the Federal financing) the Alberta government must rewrite their closure policies demanding more money up front, increasing the amount producers have to pay to the abandoned well fund so that the problem of ever increasing abandoned wells does not happen in the future.

I know. Will never happen. But you have to admit – it’s a great idea.

    1. That is a good idea. Send it to your MP.
An article an the Globe suggested thst implementing a 2% sales tax in Alberta could help to deal with some of the current challenges for government. I agree. Most places have a much higher sales tax. Might be time to bite the bullet.

  22. Emmy Lou was front and centre in the PBS presentation of Ken Burns’ ‘Country Music’.

  25. Beautiful! My first CD player 1984, my first CD: Communiqué by Dire Straits. Saw Mark and Clapton in Winnipeg Arena in mid nineties. He pairs well with anyone, any genre. Emmy Lou, as part of Trio with Dolly and LInda gets regular play in our house.
