    The ROK seems to have done a pretty good job of handling the situation – but they have several advantages systemically over NA and Europe.

    The more that can be reasonably done to slow the spread – the better. And the mortality data in developed countries has been very encouraging. As long as this thing doesn’t mutate the I’d guess worst might be over by May.

    2. Hey Buddy I’m one of those Costco toilet paper buyers from last Monday’s circus. Actually I was there for something unrelated and just happened to be in the right place at the right time to snag a couple of bags of 40 rolls before everything before my eyes evaporated. The main reason was because there was a sale for $5 off and we were running low anyways. Still about 10 people asked me while waiting in line for the till where the toilet paper was. Should be good to the end of May. If the supply chain collapses by then maybe there will be plenty of duct tape friendly ideas on alternatives.

      1. Just returned. Nobody had any in their carts. Eventually got to that area and some – whatasurprise – Chinese were handling the boo coo cheap brown rolls of paper towels you get at public washrooms. I don’t think they were shopping commercially.
        At the cash I asked with a laugh, “Where’s all the toilet paper?” Dude smiled and rolled his eyes, “Man, every day its gone in an hour. Been like that for 3 weeks.”

        Don’t people know you can buy it EVERYWHERE else.

      3. I’m installing one of those Japanese-styled toilet seats that washes both your front hole and back hole, then blow dries you. I will have bypassed the pile-up in the tp aisle.

        But let’s get something straight. Lies, Gawddamnned lies … and … Statistics. Here’s what I don’t read in any of those statistics: 1. The age of deceased. 2. The underlying health problems of the deceased. 3. The pathway of those infected. For EVERY SINGLE ONE of the deceased. When you add those ESSENTIAL details to the stats … the meaning and implications change dramatically. The panic mentality is reasonably tempered.

        Yeah, when you’re smack dab in the middle of the outbreak … it looks insanely serious and urgent! It is. But that simply isn’t true for every corner of the world. What is needed is PREVENT infected patients (or suspected patients) from traveling and quarantining anyone suspected of virus contact

Johns Hopkins shows 6,500 currents infections. Even assuming they are ALL in the hospital (which is no where near the case) this preposterous purple prose from the front lines where apparently this guy is taking heavy fire and is about to be overrun … is simply not believable. It sounds like little more than what you see if you walk into any big city emergency room on a Saturday night.
