I don’t recall hearing the mortality rate in any recent report. Have any people survived and if so how many, expressed as a percentage or an absolute number? Are they then immune or can the virus still be transmitted, and can it recur in that person?
For all we know the mortality may be 100%.

This site has done a decent job of following the subset of confirmed reported cases.
While cases in the West seem to fair better, let’s not forget what it may take to get these results and that we are in no way prepared for an epidemic.

Actually .5% death rate is definitely something. But, as you were explained above, majority of cases are neither dead nor recovered. About 30 have recovered outside of China, that gives 7% death rate. That is catastrophic. Regardless, both numbers are meaningless given the tiny samples. We will know more in upcoming weeks but the situation in China is escalating way out of control and there is no reason to assume this escalation is China specific.
