Democrats nationally poured more than $1 million into the contest, according to CBS News, pinning their hopes on former Rep. Beto O’Rourke’s strong showing in the district during his 2018 U.S. Senate bid to unseat Republican Sen. Ted Cruz.

So the “Dem-pocalypse” couldn’t get their impeachment witnesses by a 49-51 tally.
Reason: The House of Congress is charged with doing the investigation on impeachment, so you can’t come along and say you didn’t have a chance to call all the witnesses; when you had all the time in the world to marshal ALL YOUR EVIDENCE in the lower house. But they didn’t want to do that because that would have slowed the impeachment gambit, as they would have had court cases on ‘executive privilege’ to be litigated which would have taken considerable months. Of course that didn’t fit their re-election plans, because then they could say the President was “impeached”; FOREVER no less accordingly to Speaker Pelosified.
The “prosecutors” fudged it hoping they could tell the Senators (Jury) how to do their job, and the Senate demurred.
ie Do your damn job and come up with some ACTUAL impeachable offense : prove the constitutional standard for impeachment is “Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.” So far we have no evidence of President Trump engaging in, treason, axe murder, outright theft, or bribery…
