It’s the physics, stupid.
Can renewables fully replace denser forms of energy?
Geologist Scott Tinker breaks down why energy density matters and how renewables fit into a diversified global energy portfolio, but why they won’t replace energy-dense fuels. pic.twitter.com/jgxz4TyIrQ

Cow dung may be 40x denser than a lithium battery but its wayyy smarter than a Climate Doomer.
And smells better.
Wait. What!? A geologist is lecturing us about fossil fuels!? Yeah … because that’s how he exploits mother Gaia for fun and … ewwww … Profit! This man just wants more employment. He doesn’t care about the whole ecosystem … just stuff he can strip off the earth!
Yes. I graduated from UC Berkeley in 1979 … I know how these eco-frauds think and talk. It’s remarkably simplistic for a group who honestly believe they are the smartest people on the planet. Stupid. Their predictable responses are utterly stupid, and will miss/avoid the main point.
Shouldn’t the Berkeley grads be flying on solar powered dirigibles?
To save the planet…
… when the hydrogen ignites.
Kenji, baby, you are off the wall. Married a geologist and agree they don’t think like normal people (our kids would agree), but – when they do sound off – they are probably sound. You complain that this man exposits “mother Gaia”, but have you divested yourself of everything plastic in your life. Reality is that the life expectancy increased exponentially as the use of hydrocarbons grew. We need all of us to step gently on this God’s good earth; ironically, the wise use of hydrocarbons does just that.
Funny how geology spouses never studied sarcasm in university. Also baseload. There isn’t enough nickel to build the batteries to store the power from air and sun.
Two things – if the energy from wind and solar is being used to charge the batteries to use when there is no wind and solar, it isn’t available to power anything else. Where are you going to get your energy from?
I asked Grok AI how many would die in the first month if all fossil fuels and their derivatives were banned:
“No precise number exists—this is an extreme hypothetical with no controlled experiments—but a sudden, total ban on all fossil fuel products (oil, gas, coal, and everything derived from them) would cause catastrophic disruption and very large numbers of deaths within a month, likely in the tens to hundreds of millions globally, scaling toward billions over longer periods if sustained”.
Isn’t that precisely what David Attenborough, Bill Gates and other Malthusians want?
