  1. Secret identity of fourth Soviet spy who stole US atomic bomb secrets finally revealed

The name of a missing Soviet spy which was hidden from the public for the past 70 years has just been revealed.

The American man stole U.S. atomic bomb secrets along with three other known individuals.

This stealing of highly classified information between 1940 and 1948 was said to fast-track the Soviet’s development of nuclear weapons and the start of the Cold War.

        1. Pierre Trudeau Quote. “What he really wants, like his idol, Mao Tse-tung, is power.
          Indeed, says Trudeau,
“the experience of that superb strategist Mao Tse-tung might lead us to conclude that in a vast and heterogeneous country, the possibility of establishing socialist strongholds in certain regions is the very best thing…”
It’s unnecessary and infeasible to establish Socialism all at once, he says.
In a big country like China, or like Canada, the best way to impose Socialism is to manipulate group after group and seize region after region. He says,
“Federalism must be welcomed as a valuable tool which permits dynamic parties to plant socialist governments in certain provinces, from which the seed of radicalism can slowly spread.”
Notice the crucially important fact that Trudeau’s famous opposition to separatism isn’t based, like Lincoln’s, on a desire to keep his country together. Federalism for Trudeau is like everything else a tool – with which to impose Communism on Canada.
Socialism in one province will seep into another, he says. But if the separatists are successful – if a Socialist province becomes a foreign country – then that seepage is made more difficult.
On the other hand, without the degree of provincial autonomy federalism allows, Trudeau says, he would be faced with the difficult task of imposing Socialism at once. Federalism allows it to be done province by province. That is why he wants just enough autonomy – but not too much. What about specific tactics?

  2. Trudeau’s Costa Rica vacation enters third week – True North
True North’s Leo Knight wonders how much work the prime minister really does, given Trudeau’s high number of personal days.

“By my count, Trudeau has taken 48 ‘private’ days and 107 ‘personal’ days this year and only been in Question Period less than 30 times. This Prime Minister thinks his job is a part-time job,” he said.

          1. Look like mosque minarets for the call to prayer … or is it the grooming of “inappropriately” dressed women who experience things differently.

  3. Your going to need 300k to gain entry to the CPC leadership race. Sounds like CPC brass either has someone in mind to win or they want to make sure there is no populus uprising.

The CPC had better get this right. They run the risk of tearing the party apart if it’s perceived the fix is in.

      1. Justin Trudeau is not that busy, the CPC could just acclaim him as leader and save themselves the bother of that whole convention thingy, especially since counting and immediately destroying ballots is a bad look, one fearless leader of two parties would be so wholesome and inclusive and cooperative… no one would ever have to reach across the aisle because all our betters would be in deep loving and heated agreement – in other words, no change…

        1. Ha, you may be on to something there.

In a show of transparency and honesty to the Canadian voter, whenever they hold a leadership convention for the Liberal Party of Canada, they should simply appoint the 2nd place finisher as leader of the Conservative Party.

          1. Pretty much sums it up in a nutshell. Real conservatives are far less numerous than neo-Marxists. The red Tories are in power and they sit across the aisle from blue Grits … in the same church.

  4. Rex Murphy: “…is there nothing Hollywood can’t do?”

“Can it be imagined what dedication it must take for an international film star, ordinarily flanked by a retinue of press agents, cosmeticians, nannies, gardeners, schedulers, accountants, private pilots, chauffeurs, bodyguards, stunt doubles and live-in hair advisory consultants, to decide to go full vegan for one whole dinner a year? Full vegan. One whole dinner.”
“…none will doubt that once the world takes note of their example, every man, woman and child on the planet will soon follow suit.”
“Greta Thunberg will take a rest and go back to school,”

    https://nationalpost.com/opinion/rex-murphy-in-the-words-of-homer-simpson-is-there-nothing-hollywood-cant-do

    1. It’s simply the biggest display of collective hypocrisy we’ve seen from Hollywood tit heads to date.

  5. 1. Qassem Soleimani Haunted the Arab World: In much of the Middle East, and even in Iran, the military commander was feared, and his death has been greeted with elation.

A quick read in The Atlantic, not normally an especially pro-trump publication.
    https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2020/01/qassem-soleimani-death-missed/604396/

    2. From Radio Free Europe: “‘I’m Not Mourning!’ Mixed Reaction Among Iranians To Soleimani’s Death”

“The Iranian establishment’s announcement of national mourning is a mourning that will be held only by the establishment. It has nothing to do with the Iranian people!” one message said. “It’s a mourning period that will be observed by Khamenei and his circle.”

    https://www.rferl.org/a/iran-soleimani-death-iranians-reaction/30358951.html

    1. Yesterday went to have some boots repaired by a local cobbler. On the big screen TV over the counter was Aljazeera, showing all the news from the middle east. They were showing the Soleimani stuff. I asked the owner and son where they were from: Iraq.

I asked what they thought about the killing of Soleimani.

      Their reply: Very Good

‘Nuff said for me to understand why they were here in Canada now making a living.

      1. I would guess most Iraqis would say “very good”. Most Iranians too perhaps. This garbage-removal exercise at the Baghdad airport could yet have some very bad repercussions for Iraqis. Best case result would be counter revolution in Iran.

    1. My complaint has to do with way CRA deals with paper returns (and I say this as a retired public finance professor). Here in Atlantic Canada, for decades we used to send our paper returns to the St. Johns NL CRA office. We had zero ptonlems: we would send in the returns ASAP, and get a nice refund in mid-May.

But two years ago the CRA declared that all Eastern Canadian paper returns had to be sent to the Sudbury Ontario office. There the office, using computer software, makes huge, laughable mistakes. The klutzes there do not know how to do split incomes for senior couples. They simply do not know how to split incomes properly. I do paper returns for several people at church. One 57-year-old fellow, a lifetime bachelor, received a bonus refund, whereby the CRA office, out of nowhere, decreed that the fellow had a single-child dependent living with him in his rooming house.

The klutzes in the Sudbury CRA office have computer software, but they cannot fathom how to punch in correct data.

      1. Sorry for the typos. I am caring for a rambunctious terrier-collie mix on my lap.

      2. I don’t know the deal with Sudbury. A crapload of contact that would normally come out of Winnipeg or Edmonton, for Northern Alberta, now comes out of Sudbury. Alberta used to have it’s T4s processed in Winnipeg. Now they go to Jonquiere, Quebec. Our GST returns are processed in Charlottetown. I always wrote it off as milking Alberta for jobs in Liberal country. It seems like New Brunswick must be taught for voting Conservative.

      3. DM

The move of the office probably had nothing to do with efficiency- it was undoubtedly politics.

No risk to the libranos in the move. The seat is secure in NB and the Sudbury office is a reward to voters for electing a librano.

    2. My opinion of the CRA is very low. In my 19 years of directly dealing with them I have only encountered 2 people who you could consider helpful. By helpful I mean someone who wants to resolve the situation regardless which direction it goes versus someone who seems to think you did something wrong and they need to right it.

Most people don’t own a business so they are probably unaware of the ongoing changes that have negatively impacted operating a business in Canada. These changes include recent increases in payroll taxes, the elimination of corporate dividend payments to family members, and the slow elimination of the scientific research tax credit. Also, CRA has greatly increased their re-assessments of corporate tax and HST returns. In the former CRA has retroactively changed the rules and then re-assessed. The amounts owing come with an interest payment and a fine. In the latter CRA wants you to fax a ton of documentation and then they sit on it for months. Who even owns a fax machine anymore? Then they send you a notice that they reserve the right to re-assess you at any time. We were re-assessed for 2010 in 2016. Even the CRA did not have the information in their computer so everything had to be done by fax. The amount claimed by CRA (tens of thousands of dollars) was reduced to about $800 (most of it fine and interest). My accountant said “just pay it”.

This is why people run their businesses out of Panama.

      1. My accountant said “just pay it”.

Yup. I received notice that I’d made a mistake on last year’s tax return, but I couldn’t find my mistake. Rather than having to horse around with the bureaucrats, I simply paid the difference, cleared the books of the matter, and moved on–no aggravation or frustration.

On the other hand, I found out how obtuse CRA bureaucrats can be. Shortly after my father died, I called the tax department to see if there was still tax owing on my mother’s estate. The conversation went like this:

“Were you named as the executor in her will?”

        “No.”

        “G’bye!”

“Whoa whoa whoa! My father just died. I was named the executor of the estate in his will. Any obligations that he had now become mine. He was the executor in my mother’s will. He isn’t any more because he’s dead. That makes anything from my mother’s will my responsibility.”

“Were you named as the executor in her will?”

        “No.”

        “G’bye!”

Aaaaaaaarrrrrghhhh! They simply cannot think outside of their little domains. Reality, however, doesn’t always work that way.

I mentioned that to my father’s accountant. He told me that he had to deal with that sort of malarkey every day.

    3. CRA?
they came at me THREE TIMES and I BEAT THEM every time.
according to the cra a bunch of cancelled cheqs specifically stating ‘rent for month of’
      -same amount,
      -same payee,
      -one per month

      . . . . . . . . . . isnt proof of rent payment so they disallowed my rental cost deduction.
bumped into the former landlord who had the ‘proper’ receipt in the mail less than a week later.

another time, cra disputed my taxes because a former employer did not provide pay slips or a T4.

another time they disallowed self employment deductions and COPIED the earnings into the ‘salary and wages’ line.
I took all the documents and correspondence to the hamilton orifice and threatened to go to the Hamilton Spectator next if they did not fix THEIR mistake.
2 week later all sorts of ‘stuff’ undone, no more threats to ‘seize my property’ bla bla bla.

I won *every time* because I hoard documents.

last yr, 2019, I got a reply from them, to a letter I sent them, MORE THAN A YEAR BEFORE.

  6. Can you imagine the uproar if Trump had a brother who worked on behalf of the Russians? Yet Blackie’s brother works on behalf of the Iranians and Blackie’s loyal, drooling media stays silent. And let us not forget the close ties of the Trudeau family with Cuba. Its a good thing the Unifor media is tightly controlled up here.

    1. And Hunter Biden was paid $50,000 per month to sit as a director of a gas company in Ukraine because of his knowledge of the natural gas industry and not because his father was Vice President of the USA. Riiight…

  7. And now Blackie’s Saturday Toronto Star. Front page story by Tony Burman that Trump is evil and is picking on peace loving Iran. Numerous other Trump is Hitler stories. Star continues its obsession with a new Liberal MP who was a former Olympic star. He is wonderful. Heather Mallick explains that Stalin, Mao, Hitler, and Trump are bad people. Probably because they are all men. Business section explains that capitalism has failed, so we need more government in our lives. More socialism is wonderful stories. Star is excited that China is overtaking Hollywood as a producer of films. Justin is wonderful, the Liberal Party is wonderful, Canadians are racist bastards. Good news though, the Star has announced that it is cutting back on the size of its Monday and Tuesday editions because of declining advertising revenues. I guess Blackie will have to increase its taxpayer bailout of the Star.

    1. I’m afraid this is a complete no-brainer: I am never, ever going to side with Iran against the US.

  8. True North reports that Blackie’s CBC is giving away a free vacation to Cuba, sponsored by the communist government there. How exciting.

  10. Driving to Georgetown, Ontario yesterday I passed a sign that read “We choose CBC”. A very well-made sign. With the logo. Who paid for that?

    1. str

I think they sign refers to the Christmas Bird Count………at least that’s how I see it.

I saw a bumper sticker on an old pickup the other day:

      ‘No Gun Control
      No Wheat Board
      No CBC’

It was from another time in the west

      1. “It was from another time in the west”
        This too…
There is a decommissioned forty footer parked in Southern Alberta on the right side of the highway, before Calgary, that says:
        ” More Alberta, less Ottawa”

        1. You saw that sign too? On Hwy 2, east side of the Hwy, just before the Dewinton turnoff? Be careful, you might be caught as “distracted driving”. Been there for 40 years or so.

  11. Confusing… Tesla is coming under greater scrutiny for its autopilot system (and fatal crashes) as it prepares to roll out its self-driving cars.
    https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/tesla-s-self-driving-autopilot-system-under-scrutiny-1.5413931
    Why confusing? Cause…
“Tesla has said repeatedly that its Autopilot system is designed only to assist drivers, who must still pay attention and be ready to intervene at all times. The company contends that Teslas with Autopilot are safer than vehicles without it, but cautions that the system does not prevent all crashes.”

How can you have a self-driving car that requires a driver?

  12. Pedowood…
    ———————————–
For kids working to make it in Hollywood, attending ‘parties’ where they’re surrounded by predators, openly sexually abused and regularly plied with drinks, all in the presence of studio and label executives, is more than an everyday occurrence. Many would argue it’s expected.

    https://tiffanyfitzhenry.com/breaking-news/world-exclusive-mother-of-sexually-abused-boy-bander-breaks-her-silence-implicates-disney-caa-hollywood-records-lapd-da-industry-elite-in-pedophile-ring-cover-up/

    1. OR

Hollywood’s pedophile addiction has been a poorly held secret for decades. In the modern world it has become more main stream.

Those who remember Audrey Hepburn will recall her story as a young underage girl being ‘shared’ by the creepy old moguls. It’s what they did. The casting couch was a standard part of the ‘interview ‘. You put out or you didn’t get the part.

Young boys are sought after. The james Dean types are highly valued by the sick bastards.

Today their practices are more overt. They are accepted by their Hollywood peers as normal.

  13. A Double Double Doesn’t Equal Four
    https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/we-have-to-fight-workers-at-winnipeg-tim-hortons-location-locked-out-after-wage-dispute-union-says/ar-BBYAUhe?ocid=spartanntp
“The Lombard location workers were seeking a wage increase of 30 cents an hour, but Spence said the franchise owner offered a raise of 20 cents an hour.”
So the difference between what the owner offered and what they asked for is 10 cents an hour or about $200 a year if a person works 8 hours a day for 50 weeks. They currently make $11.75 an hour so if they lose 2 eight hour shifts of work at that rate ($188.00) AND then get their 30 cent raise it will still take each of them 1880 working hours to get that 10 cents an hour back.
Maybe that’s why they work at Tim’s.

  14. For any here that are on FB and support Alberta Independence. Albertans For An Independent Alberta.
Canada Full Commie All The Time. Go UDI Alberta.

  15. I see the stale donut chain Tom Horton’s is facing decreasing sales. Looks good on the woke bastards. The national post has a story today suggesting a parallel between Horton’s and new Coke. Coke came to their senses and deep sixed the new coke within 90 days and went back to their proven formula rebranded as ‘Classic’.

I got to thinking about the pleasures of coke/rum and pass along a trapper original drink recipe. The trapper is a bit of a mixologist….and subscribes to the maxim that ‘living well’ is the best revenge.

So having said that tonite for dinner I have 6 guests. Prime Rib on the menu along with Yorkshire pudding, baked asparagus etc….living well. The trap shack features a well stocked bar. Cocktails are always in style – especially ones from a bygone era.

Ok here’s a trap shack original. A play on rum and coke and the standard cuba libra. 2 important ingredients: a premium rum. I use Diplomatico or Bumbu both have vanilla tones and are mild. The coke is actually Mexican cola. Jarritos is the brand. It is sugar cane based.

A shot of Roses lime cordial ( be careful it’s sweet) a wedge of fresh lime, 1.5 oz or 2… of Bumbu, 3 ice cubes and topped off with Jarritos. Your party will never be the same…….enjoy ha

  16. Blackie’s CBC is excited about a large demonstration of Muslims and Marxists at the U.S. consulate in diverse Toronto. Heartwarming interview with a muslim woman demanding that Trudeau denounce Trump. Its a good thing Blackie is still drunk in Costa Rica.

    1. Spooky – I remember when I figured out those 2 chords that are the signature theme to the tune. I still love it. Good one NR
