      1. The irony is that there is no gun problem in Canada, its just more Virtue SIgnalling for the Low Infos. The “problem” is in teh US where guns are more plentiful and protected by the Second Amendment.
        In Canaderp, many of you here know the laws here better than I, but, handguns are so highly restricted and regulated, that there is no problem FROM LEGAL LAW ABIDING OWNERS. Hunting rifles, are also highly regulated, not as much, but may as well be for the discussion.
        Will Liberals and gun haters ever, ever, grow a brain and realize that criminals don’t respect any laws? They can ban all guns in this country, and, guns would still exist. Silly Liberals, taking advantage of the grossly gullible stupid Liberal Low Info supporters!

      3. My condolences. I think I know what you’re going through. In the past few years, both my parents and my uncle died.

        Waiting for the inevitable was the worst part for me. Now that my mother and father are gone, I sometimes wonder if there was something I could have done or said which might have made a difference for them.

  4. Last night, I posted a short comment on The National Post about Justin Trudeau’s fake smile. They deleted my comment.

    Tonight, I wrote a comment at NP on the topic of the mass hysteria that the 16 year old Greta Thunberg has caused amongst climate activists.
    My post was simple and to the point. I was raised a Catholic. Years ago, we had a priest who was raised in Germany during the 1930.s, At my younger brother’s funeral, (who died at 42 from a brain aneurysm,) the priest delivered an awe inspiring sermon about untimely deaths. At the luncheon after the funeral, I asked the priest where he had learned to speak in such an eloquent manner. He explained to me that he had actually listened to Adolph Hitler speak in Berlin when he was a teen. He also described how the Fuhrer had hundreds of thousands of people in total ecstasy; none of them realizing that he would become one of the most evil men on earth. Luckily, the priest’s Father was a doctor, his mother was a nurse, and they arrived in Canada before WWII. They all died of old age as Canadians.
    What I wrote here tonight , and what I wrote last night in the National Post was not a valid reason to disable my comments. I remember having comments deleted on the CBC. The one I recall the best was about two days after the last Federal Election when I wrote: ” I’m already missing Stephen Harper as PM!!” That’s when I realized that the CBC was totally controlled by Trudeau and his henchmen. Who controls the National Post?? Whoever it is doesn’t believe in free speech. And they can go straight to hell. I’m out of there!!

      1. I just switched on the CBC to listen to the Saturday afternoon opera broadcast.

        The first thing I heard was one of the most pretentious and fatuous ads in which I was told that I should tune into The National to get all the information and–ahem!–facts about the election. Who needs that when I’m constantly reminded for free that Prinz Dummkopf the Blackfaced Groper is Jesus Christ returned from heaven, I’m evil because I carbon, and that a vote for any party to the right of the Liberals is a ballot for Satan?

  7. Outsiders listening to Trudeau would think Ontario’s premier Doug Ford was running in the federal election.
    He needs to be reminded of the mess the Liberals under McGuinty and Wynne left for Ford to deal with.

    1. No point telling him. This is Liberals – in an election campaign – fighting for power and their privileged access to the trough.

      What’s the truth got to do with anything? – if voters were up on the truth, Trudeau would’ve resigned by now and moved far away where nobody knew him, and the Liberals would be fighting for their survival, not re-election. Sorta’ like what Wynne ended-up doing.

    2. There are frequent references to people hating Doug Ford, yet I seldom see any explanations for that. I live on Ontario. I don’t think he is terrible. There have been a couple if missteps, but nothing huge. I think the teachers hate him and make a lot if noise about that. I think it is important to cut government spending when it is excessive. Maybe there is more coverage of Ford’s transgressions in the Toronto Star which I don’t read. Ford relies a lot on his Ministers and some are quite good. Anyway, I think it is a mistake for Liberals to assume every one has it in for Ford. They don’t.

  10. Canada’s tennis star is heading for China for a tournament. Just ignore that two Canadians are being held there by the secret police. Trudeau’s Saturday Toronto Star has lots of stories about the evil Conservatives, including the editorial that Ford is Hitler and Scheer is the same as Ford so he is Hitler as well. Lilley at the Toronto Sun website explains Trudeau’s many lies. And isn’t it strange, that the Unifor media is not showing or talking about the picture at Kinsella’s website of Blackie pointing a gun at a woman. Perhaps they didn’t want to risk their revenue from the Liberal ad that rants about Scheer and Conservative MPs shooting up the streets of Toronto with assault weapons.

    I post the above, given that I think Mr. Trump is going to lose big time in 2020. I say this as a strong supporter of Trump (my younger sister and her husband are field organizers for Trump in central Pennsylvania, and both have shaken his hand a number of times).

    The reason Trump is going to lose is that virtually all the establishment institutions oppose Trump. During his presidency, Trump, to his credit, has been fighting all the big-moneyed power brokers in U.S. society — who hate him — but the problem is that all the power-brokers see next year’s election as pay-back time for all the damage Trump has done for him. There is going to be a multitude of organizations opposing him next year, and the political and social fight will be tremendous.

    Trump’s coming loss will be like that of the Old South in the U.S. civil war. Trump and the Southerners had heart and valour, but the North had its vast industrial-military machine and newly arriving immigrants to feed its large armies. (I say this as a person whose lineage comes from the Murrell families near Murrell’s Inlet, S.C., where I have fond memories). I am sympathetic to the American South as I am to Trump supporters.

    To take three examples: Trump has battled the corrupt media and has defunded the Planned Parenthood. He opposes violent urban gangs. The Democratic Party supports our corrupt media cartel, Planned Parenthood and organized criminal gangs. But the establishment is extremely angry at these touchstones, and will do anything to get rid of Trump. The United States has become like the Chicago Democratic Party machine writ large.

    SDAers can flame me if they want. The Kamala Harris-Elizabeth Warren ticket will sweep in 2020. My wide and I are going to our fishing cabin for three days.

    1. Have not yet looked at Blacks column, but my view is that the impeachment initiative will be ugly and a game changer in Trump’s favour. It will backfire on Dems. I think it will wake people up about what has been going on, and it will tear the Democratic party apart.       1. I would not bet on the Senate acquitting Trump. They hate him too. The House absolutely will pass the articles of impeachment, likely before Thanksgiving, then the Senate must hold the trial. Many R Senators are fully bought and paid for by globalists, big power brokers, etc. and can’t be counted upon to vote for acquittal. McConnell included.

        I have a sick feeling about all this. After the Mueller report landed with a splat I thought it was over. But then the Deep State found this Ukraine call and has very rapidly spun it up as impeachment fodder.

        1. I am banking on the impeachment process resulting in enough Americans figuring out what is really going on. It is a rerun of the Mueller nothingburger and people are sick of it. The Biden corruption won’t be ignored, and Trump going after him will come across as the right thing to do. All that is needed are a few salient points. The basics favour Trump. Most people will not bother following the media blow by blow. Like the Brits on Brexit they are sick of it. The impeachment is much like crying wolf one too many times. After Mueller and Kavanaugh, the jig is up.

    Just want to make the point that Andrew Lawton, and his miniscule True North media group, have been making punches way above their weight, given that the Liberal machine refuses to let Mr. Lawton cover their campaigning. Needless to say, the paid-and-bought-for media cartel have censored this story. The well-fed Liberal media acolytes on the campaign bus refuse to give Lawton any support.

    (As to Trudeau’s tree planting, the formal Paris Accords and the Canadian carbon plan both refuse to take into account oxygen-giving green foliage of any kind. My bumpkin province of New Brunswick is heavily forested (90% of the land is forest), but the province gets zero carbon credit for that).

      How is it that a journalist with Lawton’s credentials can be removed from a public event by the police at the libranos direction? Thunder Bay police couldn’t explain it either….they just did what they are told.

      I understand the LPC has since apologized to Andrew Lawton but refuses to allow him on the Prime Minstrel bus even though he has the required funds and credentials.

      Support True North folks. It’s one free press option conservatives have in this country. If the libranos win on Oct 21 expect a progressive agenda like no country has ever seen.

I have said in the past that this October’s election will give an indication of how truly stupid the average Canadian voter is by the numbers that vote for the parties offering pie-in-the-sky solutions. After watching the Climate Strike yesterday I no longer have to wait to see the mass stupidity that has encompassed this country. How any adult can sit down with an emotionally damaged child for an interview to use in an election campaign is beyond bizarre. Factor in the thousands that marched in the major cities and we have an indication that we are truly passed the point of sanity. Yesterday’s demonstration was the culmination of Chicken Little’s “the sky is falling”, Anderson’s “The King Has No Clothes”, and Obama’s “this is the moment the rise of the ocean’s began to slow”. There has never been a slicker set of con-men (sorry con-peoplekind), grafters, and snake oil salesmen in recorded history than what we have allowed to develop in our politicians, and media of today. The awakening will be tumultuous, but calamitous none the less.

    2. I agree with you. I never really liked Moore’s smirking performance as Bond and thought that Dalton was a refreshing change. Brosnan was the actor that the producers really wanted for the role, but I don’t think he was quite ready for the part at that time, even if NBC had released him from his contract.

      The next movie after License To Kill was delayed by several years due to
      internal studio squabbling. Dalton wanted to work, so he gave up the role.

      By the way, if you like Dalton’s movies, watch for him in that cheesy flick Flash Gordon, which was made about 40 years ago. (Dum-dum-dum-dum! Dum-dum-dum-dum! “Flash!” Tum! “A-aaaaah!”) As well, he plays the French king in The Lion In Winter, which also stars Peter O’Toole, Katherine Hepburn, and a young Anthony Hopkins. (I wasn’t too crazy about that film’s plot, but it’s worth watching for the performances alone.)

      1. Dalton is a wonderful actor and athlete. I just saw 3 scenes from “Flash Gordon” and enjoyed them immensely. Never saw the whole movie though. Looks amusing. One can tell that Dalton did Shakespeare. I did, however, see the truly historical, “The Lion in Winter”, years ago.

        Yes, Dalton should’ve made more Bond movies. I read that he and Daniel Craig were the best of the lot. Time will tell.

        Tonight I plan on watching “Tomorrow Never Dies” from 1997 and hopefully “The World is not Enough” – 1999 with Brosnan.

        And… re-Greta-bly, (clever) it is snowing here too! Way too early!

        2. I’ve only seen Craig’s first two movies and I wasn’t all that impressed by him. Of course, he’s quitting after the next one and then we can bid James Bond farewell.

          As for the 1980 Flash Gordon, it’s been years since I last saw it. I’m not sure if it was ever meant to be serious and it definitely doesn’t compare with any of the Buster Crabbe FG serials. On the other hand, it Queen provides the music, so it can’t be all bad, right? By the way, the actress who plays Dale Arden, Flash’s girlfriend, was born in Edmonton.

          1. “Tomorrow Never Dies” with Brosnan was action packed from beginning to end. I burst out laughing when the villain imitated the Asian girl and did a high kick. He mocked her style. I was surprised to see that in there. Brosnan didn’t have real chemistry with the women and does a lot of grimacing elsewhere. (See Sunday’s Readers Tips for clip of car chase scene)

            OTOH Timothy Dalton had touching chemistry with Carey Lowell in “License to Kill.” I don’t think it was acting.

So I told her, “You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and trim my hedge, and I’ll pay you $50. Then you can go over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and put some away for a new house.”

    She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, “Why doesn’t the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?”

    I said, “Welcome to the Conservative Party.”

    Her parents aren’t speaking to me anymore.
