  1. Nancy:

With respect to your comments about the movie Bullitt:

my copy includes commentary by Peter Yates, the director that Steve McQueen chose. It’s interesting to hear just how the car chase was set up and then filmed, as well as the background work which made it go off so smoothly.

It makes one appreciate that a good motion picture is indeed a work of art.

As for my reference to the movie Electra Glide in Blue:

it’s become a cult film since its release more than 45 years ago. It’s definitely worth watching, though it has a rather jarring ending.

    1. BA:
You got me going about this again! I love the car chase scene! Found out this scene earned the editor an Academy Award.
Couldn’t find a separate commentary from Peter Yates though. It’s probably only attached to the video. However, found this trivia about the chase.

Awhile back I told some kid about this car chase scene and asked him whether he had seen this Steve McQueen movie. He was 19 at the time and fancied himself a budding movie buff. He is a big Batman fan. He’s not a very talkative kid, but some time later he said he saw the car chase scene and said he liked it. Then added that it was a “pretty good movie too!” This flick has stood the test of time.

As for the Robert Blake flick I will admit I don’t remember it and missed the boat on that one. Checking online I found 2 movie trailers but they both cut prior to where you point out that the camera pans to Blake’s mid section, aka, his “character!” Crafty editing on this one too.
If I ever come across it I’ll take it in upon your recommendation.
Le film noir est toujours magnifique!

      Thanks.

      1. EGIB has been on TCM a few times. Some people have likened it to a modern western.

    2. I found the ending particularly jarring because it was so plausible.
‘superstition mountain’ never forgot that part of the movie either.

  2. Maybe Ralphie “The Nazi Hunter” should worry more about spies for the Chinese, rather than Nazis and gender equity and diversity in the RCMP. Mercedes Stephenson at Global News reports that it was American security agencies that tipped off CSIS about the Canadian arrested yesterday. It was also known in Canadian and Allied circles that a mole was planted in the RCMP for some time. She reports that when Groper was asked about it, he brushed it off and continued shaking hands and smiling.

    1. He does not know how to respond intelligently to anything unexpected. His foolishness is totally exposed.

  3. One of the greatest threats to election campaigns in Canada is the Cult of PC. Soon so many candidates will be thrown out or censored for thought crimes against the HIVE that only the trembling, spineless DRONES will be left to speak for you what they are told to speak. Why bother with elections anymore they have become meaningless. The selection of candidates has been removed from the constituents, and is controlled completely by the Uniparties of the HIVE COLLECTIVE. You are not part of the Club.

  4. And now Trudeau’s unbiased Saturday Toronto Star. Editorial that Hitler Scheer is Ford and Harper. Justin is wonderful. Communist and Venezuela supporter Naomi Klein explains how retard Greta is wonderful. Carefully selected letters to the editor that Trump is Hitler. Editorial cartoon ridiculing Scheer. Cohn who writes every day that Ford is evil, explains that only the Star sponsored official debates are important. The rest of the debates are run by amateurs. Justin is wonderful. The Star and rest of the media are excited about the Hijabi Ballers. Its a muslim women’s basketball team, whose Hijab clothing line is being promoted by the Raptors. Because when you think feminism, you think Islam. Standard stories that Scheer and Ford are Nazis, lots of stories that Justin and the Liberal Party are wonderful, and of course Canadians are racist bastards.

    1. And people laughed at Igor Gouzenko when he alleged that the Canadian government was crawling with communist spies….

    2. watcher:
shizen? you mean Scheissen a la german?
oh. wait. shizen looks more like chirese . . . . far more likely
      LOL !!!
but hey keep at it watcher !!!!

  5. Trudeau’s loyal drooling media, is excited about the new Nanos poll that shows Groper widening his lead over Scheer. We don’t worry about our prime ministers breaking the law or massive deficits. WE JUST WANT LOTS OF FREE STUFF! Twenty more years of Great Leader, and then his son Dear Leader can take over.

  6. Don’t miss Trudeau’s Globe and Mail today, as it has a number of stories on why Jason Kenney is evil.

  7. It was pointed out to me yesterday that the Liberal ad showing a guy putting money in a vending machine and then all the choices run down the conservatives at the 11 second mark one choice is extreme right racism. sad day when the liberals stoop this low.

  8. One “scandal” dredged up by CTV News, two days ago against Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer, has not found any traction, even with the dominant pro-Liberal media. During the Maclean’s debate, Scheer made mention of individual aboriginal groups holding big natural resource projects “hostage”. The other party leaders did not call Scheer out on that, nor did other media. But CTV News did, horrified that Canada’s pipelines, cancelled and delayed, could be seen has being held hostage by Indian groups — who are busy in court, well, delaying projects.

Consider this piece by CTV News, throwing Scheer onto the defensive, even though he is sticking to his guns:

The author of this hit piece is one Susan Turnbull, listed as a “producer” at the CTV News. Click on here name on the above link to read a short bio. You will see that she spent some time at an organization called Canada 2020, as a director of their podcast network. Checking her LinkedIn entry, one sees that she was at Canada 2020 for a year, until this past August, where she was hired at CTV News starting this month, in time for the election.

But even the major media in Canada view Canada 2020 as a pro-Liberal shadow group, organizing behind the scenes for the federal Liberals. Read this Maclean’s piece on Canada 2020:
    https://www.macleans.ca/politics/ottawa/inside-the-progressive-think-tank-that-really-runs-canada/

So CTV News, at the start of this election campaign, hires a “journalist” from the major Liberal-party NGO, just in time for this election. And consider her first hit pieces against Scheer. The CTV hit pieces will continue.

WASHINGTON, Sept 14 (Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday he had spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about a possible mutual defense treaty between the two nations, a move that could bolster Netanyahu’s re-election bid just days before Israelis go to the polls.

“I had a call today with Prime Minister Netanyahu to discuss the possibility of moving forward with a Mutual Defense Treaty, between the United States and Israel, that would further anchor the tremendous alliance between our two countries,” Trump said on Twitter.

He added that he looked forward to continuing those discussions later this month on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session in New York.

Netanyahu thanked Trump, saying in a tweet that Israel “has never had a greater friend in the White House,” and adding that he looked forward to meeting at the U.N. “to advance a historic Defense Treaty between the United States and Israel.”

The timing of Trump’s tweet, just days before Israel’s election on Tuesday, appeared aimed at buttressing Netanyahu’s bid to remain in power by showcasing his close ties to Trump.

    1. Addictive personalities are everywhere and suicides run in families, for the most part. The CBC doesn’t know what it’s talking about.
