A dental hygienist branded as a sexual abuser and stripped of his licence because he treated his wife has lost his bid to have the punishment overturned.
Ontario’s Divisional Court decision upholding the “harsh” punishment for Alexandru Tanase comes even though regulators have proposed allowing hygienists to treat spouses as dentists may do.
“There is no other case of any dental hygienist anywhere in Canada who has been found guilty of sexual abuse for treating his wife,” the court said in its ruling. “It is indeed unfortunate that the (discipline committee) elected to proceed with the complaint.”
Tar and feathers. These professional associations need to have their self-legislating wings clipped. Here’s another nauseating example.

Nurse Strom pointed out a shocking lack of care and compassion, something many nurses are guilty of (and many nurses are not).
But one must protect the taxpayer-funded Narrative of “universal healthcare” and not mention the war, I suppose.
Politics everywhere. Allan MacRae, frequent poster at WattsUpWithThat.com, had a lifetime achievement award that was scheduled to be given to him cancelled because he won’t drink the Kool-Aid on catastrophic climate change.

These professional associations need to have their self-legislating wings clipped
Let them operate on a voluntary-association, contract basis. Reputation services are not something the government needs to be involved in.

“The shortcomings in care at Brucelea Haven impacted some of Bruce County’s most vulnerable residents and we have acted both swiftly and with careful consideration,” Warden Mitch Twolan
Zeig heil, you vill follow zee rules or else. Don’t dare to complain about anything no matter how rotten it might be.
So by extension, if one treats their own child does that make one a pedophile?
Asking for a friend.
If I pulled out a tooth using fishing line tied to a doorknob, is that considered sexually abused, or self ejaculation satisfaction?
… I … I … I find your brand of auto erotica to be … disturbing. That tooth pulling scene from Marathon Man … made me cringe, and shrink up like a stack of dimes … not swell with sexual excitement. *snicker*
no kidding.
whut next for the *former* dental hygenist? sexual offender registry?
jeezuz murphy.
hey y’all SDA, SEE the massive problem with harper era ‘mandaTORY’ sentences?
the idjits in ottawa etc have NEVER been able to cover all the bases with mandaTORY crap.
its a vote getting tactic.
and its why I kicked harper in the balls to put the TURDoo 2.0 in ‘orifice’. wasnt voting FOR the bubblehead,
was voting AGAINST the ‘mandaTORY’ BULLY.
learn the bloody lesson dear CONservatist next time you want to cater to that bloodlust thing.
Committees/boards/authorities tend to attract two unwanted types: those with a torch to carry or those with an axe to grind.
and those with a torch in one hand and an axe in the other…
The good news is, self-governing bodies can vote for new leadership and vote out the clowns who enacted this poorly contrived regulation. Outlawing sex with your spouse sounds like a future policy of the climate-emergency buffoons.
Speaking of climate alarmism for a moment, Amnesty International Canada recently accused the Alberta government of “setting up a fund to research the voluminous alarms, thunderbolts, lies and slanders that have for three decades now been hurled upon the workers and industry of Canada’s oilsands by huffy NGOs, various self-declared environmentalists and busybodies of the global warming establishment”, which they said “is violating “human rights.””
Jason Kenney responded with great clarity according to Rex Murphy:

I must be getting old. I remember a time when Amnesty International was concerned about political prisoners or is something like not buying into “climate change” now considered a form of persecution?
If anyone, it should investigate people like Dr. Fruit Fly, who openly advocates imprisoning any and all “climate change” deniers. It only goes to show how hypocritical organizations like AI have become and, possibly, always were.
Then again, years ago, many celebrities were either members or supporters, John Cleese being one of them. Our “betters” have always known what was good for the rest of us and never hesitated to remind us of that.
Ignaz Schwinn, Christian Martin and Heinrich Steinweg all came to the new world even though they were doing quite well at home already. They did so to escape the stranglehold of the German professional associations.
Times have changed.
The actual Jason Kenney letter is even better than Rex’s post that praises Kenney’s letter. It’s not easy to top Rex.

It was an excellent letter, the only part that I found offensive was his support for “reconciliation”, it is not needed and all Indians need to partake in the development of our country. They need to start carrying their own weight economically, no more hand outs, no more whining and moaning about things that THEY have the ability to change just by working at it. Get up get going and stop complaining.
Ultimately there can only be one class of citizen in a country or there will never be peace. The one advantage of a reconciliation is that it gives something to point to where it can be said “at this point we became equal, now stop demanding special treatment.”
That’s the goal, anyways. I suspect that there will always be bigoted leftists with their soft bigotry of low expectations who will say “of course you can’t succeed, you’re only a poor ignorant (meaning stupid in this case, not unlearned) [insert identifiable racial group here]. You need me to tell you what to do (because I’m so much better/smarter than you are). So the underlying hurdle is identifying, outing, and ridiculing the leftists. Hopefully ridicule will be enough, because otherwise the divisions will get stronger and stronger.
There is no advantage to “reconciliation” it will only represent another dip into the taxpayers pocket and all will be as it was.
My guess is that more times than not self regulated professions are regulated to the detriment of the public. Typically they limit access to the profession driving up income. Fifty years ago many law schools had open admission and 90% or more passed the bar exam. Today, finding a lawyer, for a piddling case requires a $3,000 to $5,000 up front payment. Finding a lawyer in Alberta that will work through Legal Aid is a full time job.
Chartered Accountants kept raising the bar. Fifty years ago, one articled to be an accountant right out of high school. At some point CAs required a degree and some years flunked as many as 60% of those writing their admission exams. Two other groups, the CMAs and CGAs started overtaking the CAs because they were much more user friendly. Of course the ultimate resolution was merging so they can go back to restricting the profession.
I think RNs were a 2 year hospital taught program fifty years ago entered directly out of high school. In Alberta it is a 4 year degree program. They created 2 new professions to do work RNs used to do, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Health Care Aides. Few of those people you see are actually Registered Nurses so doubling the education has likely made the quality of care poorer. What it has done is give RNs bargaining power. Some US states still have 2 year RN programs, I believe.
Kate, that ‘nauseating’ second example is utterly ridiculous. That nurse’s letter was very carefully written and measured in its tone. And it didn’t even call out any FAILED caregiver by name (if it was MY relative harmed, I would). I’d dare say that such feedback from another PROFESSIONAL caregiver should be welcome, if not invited.
So, what did this guy do? Clean his wifes teeth??
the legalese went this way:
being spouses, they have sexual intercourse like normal marrieds.
but, BUT, the brain damaged rule says that
under
no
circumstances
whatsoever
can
a
hygienist
have
ANY
type
of
sexual
relations
with
a
patient.
being married is NOT an exception because that is NOT in the brain damaged rule.
aka still more mandaTORY rules eh?
see where THAT gets us?
THAT is why I kicked harper-the-bully in the BALLS 1st chance I got.
*HE* wanted to implement mandaTORY sentencing for whatever it was. pot offenses or something.
here’s a suggestion o CONservatist, leave the g$*&%&%*$#med sentencing the way it is, and for those rare situations where sentencing seems inadequate, let the crown appeal.
otherwise, put your bloodlust in the toilet.
