    CA.
ah, the great pioneer in prison sentencing which congered up the 3 strike rule, putting schmucks in prison for 25 years for . . . .
    for . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . wait for it . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . shoplifting.

oh, wait, that one got FIFTY YEARS.

and doan fergit WHO was behind this all the way: the CA prison guards union lobby, seeing huge job security for still more unionboys.
all financed by gutting the health system, edjukashun cystem, infrastructure, welfare, etc etc up the wazoo.

now they got NO MONEY for stuff like dealing with a pandemic of homelessness.

    1. In case you don’t know. WA sate was the first ones to start 3 strikes.(1993) Then CA followed. (1994)

Anyone convicted of a third serious felony shall be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole

      1. So third felony arrests mean immediate freedom. Got it.

Anything is better for Progressives than enforcing the law. Once someone is confirmed as an enemy of society by 2 convictions they shall become unchargable.

Heh, Autocorrect wants to change that to “unchangeable”. For once it gets it right.

        1. So third felony arrests mean immediate freedom. Got it.
          ****************************

Odd. I made no such claim.
          You could look up yourself.

I lived in CA for most of my life. It did work at getting felons who didn’t give a damn about laws off the street.

          1. Sorry, the sarcasm font didn’t come through. The second paragraph shows how the Progressives will think, and why the third charge will never be filed. It’s similar to how California (and cities therein) officials aren’t reporting illegals to ICE even after violent crime, they’d rather have the muggers and rapists run free than be deported.

  2. unfortunately, not just there….At Tim’s this morning in Calgary, the manager had to kick someone out of the toilet…but wake them up first….passed out/wacked out on drugs…who knows….but the ‘safe site’ consumption site has seen a big increase in crime in the area and shop owners and home owners are fed up….

  3. 12th Ave & 8th st….SW perhaps.?
The one where its near impossible to park.?

My Wife works 11 ave X 9th st. See’s this shit all the time. I’ve suggested to Nenshit that said “safe injection” site should be moved into the West Hills…the one with the Hi Tax base.

    No response to date.
    No surprise either.

Another politician “campaigning” for inclusion as lappost decor.

    1. Edmonton has 3 safe injection sites in China town within a few blocks of each other and none anywhere else. Apparently council all hate Chinamen.

    2. Homeless people are a reliable Nenshi voting block.

Stop giving to food banks. Recognize when you are enabling instead of helping. See “safe” injection sites…

  4. If this man closes his business … the city of San Francisco will SUE him. Because businesses are “obligated” to serve the “underserved communities” … such as “the homeless”, “junkies”, “mentally ill people who wander the streets talking to themselves”, and of course … the “urban” poor.

  5. Not sure if I have stated it on this site before but I think that the sf bay and the la basin will flip to hardcore conservative inside of a generation or two much as New York did in the 80s. (And much if Eastern Europe has and India for that matter).

The left has pushed their experiment so far that a snap back is inevitable.

  6. Homeless people are a reliable Democratic voting block; of course California is going to do things to make it “worse”.

  7. Which book did the more damage, “Silent Spring” or “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”?
I’d vote for “Silent Spring” still, especially since the latter had enormous impetus from the subsequent movie.
But domestically, in terms of turning our large cities into shit holes, the latter did more than its share of damage. In tandem, the two books may combine to wipe out the cities with insect borne diseases.
I would say that’s good news all around, except I live in one of those cities, and have no prospects of moving.

    1. Indeed. And let me add: The China Syndrome. Which helped to galvanize an irrational FEAR of Nuclear power.

  8. The shop owner may be a good guy but he’s drunk the cool aid as well: “there should be facilities where people can do drugs…”
The fact that he thinks that normalizing drugs is a good idea, shows that he’s either brainwashed and part of the problem or that he’s part of the problem.
