Are getting hit by Dorian, and hard.
Some outer bands of Hurricane #Dorian are affecting South Florida. The eye is currently making landfall on Grand Bahama Island. The angle of attack will allow the north/south eyewall portions to remain over warm water. pic.twitter.com/eKq6ZTQaxh

Satellite image that uses a background of city lights over land … there is only a small distance between the densely populated SE Florida coastline and Hurricane #Dorian.

As one might expect, the Climate Emergency Cult can barely contain their glee.

Well that’s the price you pay for living in a tropical paradise. I wonder if building with hardened concrete wouldn’t be better than wood. I have friends in the Philippines who go through this on a. yearly basis, they build with cinder block. They flood but don’t lose everything. Glad I live in cold Canuckistan.
Re living in Canuckistan ….. Yup, tonight at supper I commented that I won’t be complaining about shovelling snow this winter 😉 It truly will seem like a winter wonderland compared to what some folks are going through now.
The tenuous, scientifically documented effect of global warming, relative to weather, is that extreme events are less frequent – not stronger, and not more frequent. (Pielke, Jr.) The planet continues its refusal to cooperate with the politically correct, dystopian future, death and destruction that alarmists, and one former PM, hope for.
Yes, but the cultists bank on ignorance. I had to explain to one such believer that weather is created by the inter mixing of warm and cold. If the planet was warming up the extreme weather events would be less not more.
It’s that time of year again.
About 40 years ago I spent the first week of September in the Bahamas, in fact, the Grand Bahama Island. It is 95 miles long and the widest point North to South is about 15 miles. The highest point is only 40 feet. All told it is about 530 square miles.
It features breathtaking white sandy beaches, beautifully clear turquoise blue water, and plenty of lush tropical foilage. The national dish is conch, served in a variety of ways. Got introduced to ‘Bahama Mammas’ with coconut rum. Very tasty, $2 / 26 ounce.
Too bad the island took a hit today. The people will survive, they are used to this. When I was there, it rained for about 15 minutes every day before the dinner hour.
Today the island’s population is only about 53,000 souls.
May they be safe.
Nancy Ross: When people move to these islands and Florida…they should know the weather patterns way before they move. So knowing this they should be prepared and will weather out the Storms either by leaving the area or staying put in a safe spot. KNOWLEGE GOES A LONG WAY!! Stay safe everyone!
I agree. Some Canadians are rethinking their moves …

Does Kim Campbell own property there?
The worst part is the hurricane is moving so slow. It will be sitting over those Bahamas Islands for hours, grinding away with wind and water.
Say a prayer for their safety.
My fellow radio amateurs will be providing communications services. When there’s a hurricane coming, emergency nets are activated and the participants are on standby.
One of those is SATERN (Salvation Army Team Emergency Radio Network). Whenever it’s about to go on the air, hams around the world are notified as to which frequencies it’ll be operating on. We are advised to stay off them unless we have emergency traffic for the net or can assist in passing messages.
Hams are generally a courteous lot and we, for the most part, comply.
Hurricanes, yep, every year for thousands, maybe millions of years. People have to build shelters that will withstand the storms.
The mot du jour is “catastrophic”.
I know because I heard it on CBC, CTV, CNN, PBS, etc, etc…..
Jamie, it is the end of the world as we know it. It always is. Before modern media we learned about such storms long after they happened.
If they want the hurricane to disappear, they should give broadcast rights to cnn. They always PANIC,…then… nothing much happens.
The sense here is that the media cartel just does not think that Florida is not gonna hit as hard as they hoped for.
Mara Lago may get some wind.
Heh
Hurricane damage in the Bahamas is devastating, one person dead:

The hurricane is stalled over the Bahamas (moving at 1mph) with sustained 150mph winds. There are few buildings that can hold together in that environment. Yep. The only way to build is a concrete bunker. I hope all the Bahamians have taken shelter.

When Jimmy Buffet was an ARTIST … and not a gawd awful “parrot head”, and “restauranteur”. I highly recommend AIA … pretty much the one and only Jimmy Buffet lp worth listening to.
Just a note to the twitter citator re this 5 mph hurricane.
When Trump said he’d “never heard of a category 5 hurricane,” the transcript of the remarks probably mean he’s speaking from personal experience. But never mind, another chance to take a shot at Trump, who’s wholly unsuited for their power.
“I’m not sure that I’ve ever even heard of a category 5. I knew it existed and I’ve seen some category 4′s. You don’t even see them that much. But a category 5 is something that I don’t know that I’ve ever even heard the term other than I know it’s there.” Draw your own conclusions on the latest Trumpism but there it is.

And in keeping with this setiment, if ANYBODY dies in Florida as a result of the Hurricane it should be blamed on Kim Campbell. And that despicable cow should be charged with accessory to murder.
That would be like blaming Kim Campbell for reducing a majority government to seats. Oh wait, she did that.
Heard her on cbc’s tribute to climate change today.. Some replays.. What a hateful Cow!..

Just overheard on Twitter that Dorian is going straight toward new Obama’s property in Martha’s Vineyards.
