True, the original Antifa was arrayed against the Nazis, which makes them sound like the good guys. They were not.
When fascism started rising up, its biggest enemy was communism. This was not because they were antithetical ideologies. It was because they were sister totalitarian ideologies, both arising out of socialism, and both appealing for the same mass market. You do notice that Antifa attacks all occur in states without the right to carry. They kept retrying the Greensboro Klan but it came up self-defense every time. After all the Communists whole point was to attack the Klan.

The National Socialists and the Communists are not a left-right contest, they are both competing for the same ground on the left. In a less violent setting, it is what we would call “splitting the vote.”
Years ago watching “The World at War” series, at one point they are interviewing a woman named Bonhoeffer, and the caption describes her as an “anti-Nazi activist.” So of course I thought she was probably a communist, but they just don’t want to say so.

Actually I suspect that the Bonhoeffer woman was related to the anti-Nazi protestant church pastor that was executed by the Naxis for speaking out against them. I doubt that he was connected to the Nazis.
You are correct. I never remember to look her up, so I did so just now and she was married to Dietrich’s older brother. Both of these men were executed in April of 1945.
So it looks like I am probably wrong, and she was not a communist, as Dietrich certainly would not have been.
Hitler was named “Man of the Year” in 1938 by Time Magazine. The Marxists and Nazis were very close in terms of ideology with the main difference being that the Nazis permitted private “ownership” of business but regulated it so tightly that it operated for the benefit of the state itself. The anti-capitalistic economic policies of the Nazis were clear:

Hitler spent some time (early) organizing the Communists ….He created the Brown Shirts with a leadership that was Communist…They supported Hitler’s rise, but with the secret goal of assassinating him & ceasing Power… Once Hitler had gained power he created the SS for his protection & ordered the Communist leaders killed (Brown shirts were re-organized)…

National socialism was never anything but an experimental bugfix for Soviet-style socialism, intended to improve incentives to produce. It was bankrolled by the same people, and recruited its muscle from the same groups—young ne’er-do-wells who got their kicks from senseless violence, especially if they got to beat the hell out of Jews.
Nazism became a political obscenity the way communism didn’t because Hitler, to put it mildly, double-crossed his backers in global high society.
Stalin only starved and murdered his own people. If Hitler had only exterminated Europe’s Jews he would be remembered as a hero today by court historians. (At the time of his death Stalin was plotting a Holocaust of his own. Only his death prevented the plan for being carried out.) Dropping bombs on the City of London? Now THAT was beyond the pale.
The experiment was regarded as a catastrophic failure, and everything possible was done to ensure it was not repeated. Today the national socialist movement is extinct, the posing of a few Deep State agents who dress up as SS officers on the weekend to deceive the unwary and discredit patriotic movements notwithstanding.
The “woke” left are all too real though, and they’re out for capitalist blood.
They were beating the hell out of the Jews because the communists were mostly Jews. Look up the Spartacist League, the Frankfurt School and the Bavarian Soviet if you don’t believe me. And that’s just Germany. The communist revolution in Russia, Hungary and Poland were no different.

When I heard “make Antifa a sport” the Colosseum was my first thought. Voluntary, not slaves fighting. Antifa could start off as the home team, and take on comers. The first match could be Antifa irregulars against de-mobed rangers, with Antifa irregulars having a 2:1 advantage in numbers.
Why do I call them the Antifa irregulars? Because they’d be $hitting themselves as they tried to run away.
