      Remember that Donald Trump said that Mexico would pay for the wall. He never said how he would get them to do that.

      If the Mexican government closes the border to illegal migrants going north to save the industry there that exports to the U.S. of A.

      That will be the most cost effective wall (building) that Trump ever had built.

      The 2020 election will be won by Trump before the Democrat candidate gets out of the starting gate.

  8. So the solution to Mexicans crossing the U.S. border is self-imposed sanctions? Tariffs are taxes on Americans who import Mexican goods. They are paid by Americans, not Mexicans. It’s absolutely shameful to see a conservative blog touting tariffs as a solution to anything. I thought conservatives were in favor of free markets, not central planning and big government. Far from being an advocate of economic freedom, Trump is your basic garden variety socialist. His tweets prove my point more and more every day.

    1. You really have no clue as to the objective of tariffs nor how they work. Apparently you also do not know the difference between a conservative and a free marketeer, nor apparently a market at all and certainly not what a socialist is.

      Somehow in your mind economic freedom means doing nothing while illegal immigrants invade and your political enemies prevent you from enforcing border laws. This move by trump is a good move, for the dems can’t realistically block in court and it clearly gets the message across to mexico to block the border from their side. Honestly, he should have done this the day after his inauguration.

        1. Dennis, what happens when Mexican goods cost 25% more? Americans buy American made goods.
          Mexico loses business and tax revenue. Is not using Tariffs a better solution than guns.

The Mexico problem will be Pelosi’s last stand… I agree with Freeland that Canada & Mexico must move quickly to pass the trade bill because she doesn’t want to share Pelosi’s exhaust pipe…The Democrats will go into 2020 with the Failure of the Trade bill on their plates….Trump really just wants NAFTA gone and Pelosi will unwittingly give him exactly that…The Democrat usual big donors will not be happy when Trump Closes the Border until ALL the Ninth Circuit Judges are moved to the Border to adjudicate ALL pending Claims…..

  17. The tax deduction only really matter for US taxes. If the tariff cuts sales of “cactus juice” in the bigest Tequilla market, Jose Cuervo and his vulture buddies will be plucking the eyeballs of “El Presidente” and his “white” Spanish elite class. Good burbon and blended whiskies from lower Appalachia are very dangerous competetors.

    Then there is the unspoken threat of the banking system. Money “stolen” from America by illegals is almost half of the Mexican GDP. I suspect that the current tariff is just a warning shot. If the thieves can’t send the stolen cash back to “Bandito Central”, that whole scheme collapses.

    Mexico may not build the wall, but they damn well better BE the wall.

    I’d enjoy seeing the useless population that Mexico is dumping on the U.S. get angry at their Beaner Ruling Class. Maybe France will ship them some yellow sombreros.
