    Banning anonymity may lower the level of abuse.

    But it also means online identity police, cracking down on those with false identity, making it easier to control speech, etc.

    In short, more control and censorship, less freedom. When you can simply mute.

    & enjoy debating with her. I hate to see some of the abuse she and others are subjected to on social media. We do need to do better. I think ending anonymous accounts on @Twitter would be a good start.

      2. Yesterday I was speaking with a delivery driver about the heavy smoke we’ve got here in Edmonton. I jokingly said that we didn’t pay enough carbon tax, whereupon he lectured me that we need to pay to “pollute” if we want to “save the planet”.

          Two to four degrees C warmer and Calgary wouldn’t be as warm as Denver.

          The smoky smell of forest fire from High Level has hit Calgary. It is just unbearable. Saw one person with a mask on. The sky is white and it’s hazy.

          1. For much of yesterday, I couldn’t see West Ed from my balcony, some 7 or 8 km away. At its height, visibility was down to about 250 m.

            I can see it now: the instant I pay more carbon baksheesh, er, tax, the smoke will disappear and it’ll be so clear that I can see forever, to paraphrase the words of that song.

The CBC was ranting this morning about a Conservative MP at the Justice Committee hearing, taking offense when a muslim witness blamed conservatism for islamophobia. The Liberal and NDP members were outraged that anything negative is said about Canada’s new state religion.

        Then again, what should one expect from a company in which constantly advancing oneself through the pecking order was considered the only purpose in being there?

Then borrowed a couple of bucks off a journeyman to eat all week until payday, if one of them had mercy. Me and the other apprentice that 1st winter, lived on beans, sardines and white bread. Boozing and girls takes up a lot of a 18 year olds income. You can imagine the kind of Ladies we convinced to come home, reeking of beans, booze and sardines. The old married women who ran the canteen loved us tho, they would laugh when they saw us coming, and would give us a sandwich and a coffee when we came in hungover. All we had left was ribs and **** like a reservation dog after a weekend. We worked hard and played hard. Go out dancing and whoring until 5 am. Roll in to work hungover and sick. Puke in the sewer and swear never to do that again. But by 5 o’clock we were lining up some girls and a party. And scrounging gas for our old jalopy’s. A lot better life than the what the pussy’s have today. I regret nothing. High Wide and Handsome, was how we lived. If we could not find a girl Friday night, we always found a fistfight for sure.

    This is total nonsense.

    At least one “journalist,” Melanie Green at the Vancouver Star, who seems to specialize in fake news, is gullible enough to believe that this forged email is real and is harassing us with questions.

    We invite anyone who has information about these forgeries to send it to PPC HQ.

    We know who is spreading them. We are building a legal case against them and will intervene in due time.

    Fake news is becoming a real problem. The Liberal government is making things worse with its $600M bailout of the media and increased funding of the CBC.

    Among the “strategic considerations” outlined in emails was a concern that the release of information might affect the stock price of Tweed, which had gone public on the Toronto Stock Exchange that week — the first pot producer in the country to do so. There were also concerns that the release of information could embarrass Health Canada and expose “deficiencies” in new regulations over medical marijuana production that were rolling out that same week.

    The National Post first sought access to the records five years ago through an access-to-information request. The RCMP initially refused to release any records, citing an ongoing investigation. The Post complained to the federal information commissioner, resulting in a process that dragged on until last fall when the RCMP finally agreed to process some of the records.

    Asked this week about the national police force’s apparent concern over the impact of publicity about the bust on the company’s stock price and the potential political embarrassment to the federal government, B.C. RCMP spokeswoman Sgt. Janelle Shoihet said she needed more time to review the file. “Generally we can say that decisions with regards to communications will always consider impact on prosecution, timing and whether (or) not a company is publicly traded. These factors have been considered in the past and were not unique to this investigation,” she wrote.

    “Impacts on partners, disclosure, potential or active prosecutions and privacy legislation must all be considered when determining what, if any, information can be made public.”

    1. This item was featured on CTV last evening. The store employees apparently told the parents to go for an ice cream and when they would get back the items they asked for and needed would be readily available for them.
