Is your farm ready for activists?
It’s an unfortunate reality for many farmers — the very frightening possibility of activists targeting them on their private property, where their homes are, where they care for their livestock and raise their children.
Last weekend, Ontario dairy farmers were left shaken when activists trespassed on private property, entered barns without permission, and reportedly, even stole a dead calf.
The events have left several outspoken farmers angry, but also feeling extremely violated. It’s one thing for activists to protest in a public space, but it’s quite another to have highly-motivated and agitated strangers enter your place of work and home yard. Imagine if these same people did this in the city? How quickly would police respond? How seriously would they be dealt with?

Shoot. Shovel. Shut up.
Is it cannibalism if you feed them to the pigs and then eat the pigs?
Asking for a friend.
Naw. But, it would be a shame if the pigs got loose, wouldn’t it?

my sheepfarmer buddy had an heirloom ram

“Shoot. Shovel. Shut up.”
Reminds me of a sign I saw on a driveway gate in a remote part of Colorado. It read:
NO TRESPASSING
I OWN FIREARMS AND A BACKHOE
YOU ARE NOW IN RANGE
Amen to that!
No doubt as soon as the High River investigation is complete they will get right on this.
And that is why the UnMes love gun control. To get away with intimidation and mob rule.
Get your shotgun and shoot the bastards. You need to protect your family and your property. This invasion of the ‘meek’ and stupid need to be stopped. Eventually they will not stop at the barn or the cows. They will come for you and yours. It is heading that way … so don’t be naive.
Sure. That’ll work. You go right ahead big boy, I’ve got my popcorn all ready.
Panty boy, ewe git those FIXED wheels raised yet?????
Stopped ignoring the rubber marks all over those roundabouts yet, dumb@$$?
Perfect!
“They will come for you and yours. It is heading that way….”
This was probably a test. When they see that the cops can’t respond they will truly go for the throat.
Great, another Internet worrier, tell that to Ian Thomson.
Right? Mr. Thompson had them trying to literally burn his house down, with him in it. He still got charged with attempted murder, improper storage and a few more things, still spent more defending himself than the house was worth. It would have literally been easier for him to let them burn it down.
I wonder sometimes if these drive-by “shotgun!” guys are RCMP trolling for loons.
“I wonder sometimes if these drive-by “shotgun!” guys are RCMP trolling for loons.”
Would not surprise me at all. There is another in the tips thread today, proclaiming how we need to stand up and resist and not give up our guns and all that.
Sadly all my firearms were lost many years ago in a tragic boating accident. Now I make do with a walking stick and lots of experience.
The only one I got left is the registered restricted pistol. All my unregistered unrestricted guns have already been sold to Jim, Bob and Frank I met at the range.
No Panty boy, some of us have a reputation that cause the OPP to tell people to stay in their car on my property. We look after you ladies!!!!
Bumper humping a 90 year old lady in her Prius with your FFFFFFF-3333333350 does not count as manly
Duke, I tend to agree with you but… they’ll throw you in jail and you’ll lose everything. On the other hand, a couple of well trained dogs would teach the bastards a lesson and since they’re trespassers, it would be perfectly legal. But don’t forget to post ‘No Trespassing’ and ‘Beware of Dog(s)’ signs.
I agree.
We do not have self defense justice in this country but rather a legal system designed to punish those who protect themselves and their families, and their property.
A “Beware of Dog ” sign is an admission of guilt here , has been for many years .
Trespassing, break and enter, tracking disease carrying soil on their footwear for starters.
This intrusion is much more serious than it first appears.
I like the shotgun, backhoe inference….
Whatever you do, don’t call the cops. Oh and make sure you have unregistered grandfathered firearms…
Here in my “semi-rural” suburban Bay Area community in the late 1960’s my buddies and I roamed the oak-studded Hills, grasslands, and creeks constantly. Barbwire fences presented no barrier to our forays into the hills, nor did the NO TRESPASSING signs. However, there WAS one little section of the hills we tended to avoid – Buckeye Ranch. Why? Because the superintendent carried a shotgun filled with rock salt loads. Yes, I have been “peppered” with salt. Always from behind as we turned tail running as fast as our skinny white legs would carry us. Hint: it stings like hell.
I suggest such non-lethal loads might be quite effective on the snowflakes of today. However, my lads and I did not have teams of attorneys on retainer to sue anyone who rendered us … uncummmmmmfterble. And it was damnned uncomfortable when ‘winged’ by a load
Wowsers, wait until Ford hears about this!!
“How quickly would police respond? How seriously would they be dealt with?”
Wiebo Ludwig was unavailable for comment.
While defending your property with a gun is illegal (in the eyes of the police anyway), I’m thinking a really aggressive bull let loose would not only be effective but also entertaining.
It is only an issue if they catch you. If you blast the trespassers at close range, and bury ’em deep who’s to know, right?
Dogs. Really big dogs. That bark.
And by the way, for y’all saying “shotgun,” I want you morons to finally realize something: you are in so much more danger from the police and the courts than any intruder, it is not even funny.
It would literally be better for you to torch your own house and barns than to point a gun at an intruder. By which I mean -cheaper- and less emotionally destructive.
So if there is no recourse with the authorities, and no recourse on our own, what is left? Surrender? If all is lost anyway, why even give in? Why not be obstinate? We’re not talking about “morons” in their basement playing Call Of Duty here.
Dogs? Do you not think that you can likewise be held liable for what YOUR dogs do as you would be with a shotgun in defense of family and livelihood?
The thing about barking dogs is that they serve as a very efficient deterrence. They can be scary. And yes, if they bite they will be killed by the state and you will be paying compensation to the subhumans that got bitten. It is a feature not a bug, the system is purposefully rigged to encourage property crimes and politically correct mob rule.
Buzzard said: “So if there is no recourse with the authorities, and no recourse on our own, what is left? Surrender?”
You, my friend, do not have any property rights. At all. Only now, after thirty years of erosion during which -I- have been screaming the whole time, do you finally wake up.
Yes. Your sole legal recourse is to call the cops and walk away while demonstrators trash your place. If you use deadly force to defend your property, YOU will go to jail. For sure. There is no doubt. Oh, and you’ll have to sell the farm to pay your legal bills. Also for sure. Legal defense like that would run to several million dollars.
This fact has been impressed upon me by many, many firearms instructors over the years. It is the law of the land. Too bad you were sleeping all this time.
And yes, you will be held liable if your dog bites a demonstrator trespassing on your property. But a dog is not a gun, so the court will not try to hang you as a matter of policy. The police, if you are reasonably polite, might be inclined to let it go. Maybe. Or maybe not. This is politics, and you don’t know why those demonstrators picked your place. Maybe somebody doesn’t like you.
That’s why I said big dogs that bark. Even stupid PETA demonstrators understand the immanent threat of a big, ugly dog.
Welcome to Canada.
“Welcome to Canada.”
Precisely. The reason the state hates and persecutes people willing to stand up to defend their property is because the state sees them as natural enemies. Whereas the thugs that rob said people are an ideological ally of the state. The defenders are likely to defend from the state just like they defend from the thugs. And the thugs … they are doing what the state does. Give the thugs a government badge and you will not see the difference between them and the current crop of enforcers.
LOL Well……I guess that is what insurance is for. That is, for those of us that will be able to afford the commensurate rates.
Yes, I will regretfully and painfully admit that I’ve been asleep. I have to own that. However, thank to blogs like these with contributors like you, I’m asleep no longer.
The picture that you paint is depressing and bleak. I waver between telling my teenaged children to not bother having children on the one hand, and on the other hand to have the courage and the hope for the day the pendulum swings the other way.
Is “going galt” even an option? Even then the government won’t leave us alone. There is no place left to go where one can truly be free. Even the right to defend our very lives, possess things, and pursue that which mimimizes the daily travails of life is tenuous and at the sufferance of those that rule us; for ruling us they do.
I wonder if it would not have been better to take the blue pill. *Snicker* Sound familiar?
“Is “going galt” even an option? ”
From “The Last Centurion” by John Ringo:
“There’s a really crappy book by Ayn Rand called ‘Atlas Shrugged.’ It’s a real snoozer but I was really bored one time on an exercise and struggled all the way through that fucker. The basic premise, though, was simple. A guy who built a widget that was very important to, well, everything it turned out, decided to quit. The guys who took over building the widget didn’t build it as well and society fell apart.
It is not easy to break a society or an economy. You can’t do it by missing any one widget. If they guys making the widget, now, don’t make it well enough someone will come along who does. And probably better than the original widget maker. That’s the whole point of a free-market. Command economy? Maybe. But then the KGB will come break down the widget maker’s door and explain that he’d better get back to making widgets or he’s never going to see his daughter again.
And one widget never does it. Ever.”
So no, “Going Galt” is not an option, never really was.
“There is no place left to go where one can truly be free. ”
And that is truly a scary thought. I grew up behind the iron curtain. We hated it but we knew that there was always that West. That land that was free. Then I finally got there. I spent a majority of my life in that West only to witness it gradually die. That West is no more.
Free people have always annoyed the elites. And free people are a uniquely western phenomenon. They tried everything they could think off to make us dependent. And then they came up with the genius idea: when the electorate rejects collectivism you replace the electorate.
And so they imported naturally collectivist voters form the turd world. They flooded here lured by the promise of free shit while deprived of even elementary understanding of what it means to be free.
We’re going to see things seriously collapse in Europe and in North America. At this stage the only question is when. Probably sooner than we expect. In 1987 we still expected Soviet Union to last for decades…
That’s why I moved to Florida and live in a rural area on 7 acres of oak infested land and am well armed. I sleep soundly at night.
Are you 100% self-sufficient? Do you practice nothing but subsistence provision? Is there any deed or title in a land office anywhere to “oak infested land”? Do you purchase ANYTHING? What are you typing that on? What utilities do you still obviously use?
Yes……in some fashion you ARE “free”. But for how long?
Well said, and so true.
Eeerrr… Blast ’em at close range, snd bury ’em deep. No witnesses. Unregistered firearms.
Maybe growing up on the frontiers of Asia during the Cold War changed my perspective. Hunting stupid people (Communist insurgents) is fun and easy (quote from our liaison recon guy)
Video cameras all around. If they won’t prosecute post it on the Internet and destroy their credibility.
Lots and lots of good-quality video would be useful in pursuing private lawsuits against all the demonstrators, and against police when they inevitably start playing games with who to charge. Nice in the case of all the “inspectors” that traipse through the place too.
But make sure to have off-site video storage. Otherwise they just steal it.
Their what?

“Dogs. Really big dogs. That bark.”
I’d be thinking big dogs whose bite was (way) worse than their bark . . . actually the kind of big dog that doesn’t bark at all but growls just a little bit when they get right up behind you.
If the dog actually bites them, you’re in the legal zone. That means you lose.
If it just scares them so bad they p1ss themselves while they run away, well, that’s a good day.
Most farmers have an ATV or UTV for chores. Often times there is a scabbard with a gun in it, for coyotes, skunks, gophers, etc. Legitimate use, obviously.
Whilst on the ATV, photograph everyone of them, including their vehicles and license plates. You don’t have to threaten them or even remove the firearm. But they see it is there while you are on the ATV, very close at hand. (It may not even be inside!) You also have a ready escape on this vehicle if they come towards you.
There are other tools in the ATV which might be handy. Chains and locks for gates, barbed wire, sharp fencing staples, you know, various things which could be put to other purposes while the ‘activists’ are on your property.
I love the ATV with the empty gun case. That plus the camera, that’s golden.
Would a lot of city folk know what a gun boot on an quad was, even to look at it?
Grok, 4 way lug wrenches are fun. Spin the lug nuts off their vehicles while they’re trespassing on your property and watch the fun when they drive away. And be sure to record it and post it on YouTube
You need steady stalwart neighbors for mutual defense. Neighbors that will forever keep their mouths shut.
You are at your home on the phone to the police. ON THE PHONE!!! And like a good neighbor, you call your neighbors and friends too. While filming with a video camera. Like they said above, get the faces, the license plates, everything on film and video.
Suddenly shots ring out, you are being shot at. You tell the police. Except maybe the shots are not at you, but come close to the intruders? It is really hard to see where shots came from, so you might not be able to see who was shooting at those activists. Maybe it WAS the activists? Better search them and their vehicles. Check all the licenses and registrations. Bring your camera and tag along with the police. If the gunmen take their casings, it is really hard to track them. Who knows maybe it was fireworks? Blanks in a revolver?
But it wasn’t you and yours. You have proof on video. Your firearms are locked up, and have been cleaned since they were last fired.
Be innocent, but have really good friends. Friends that keep their mouths shut.
Not a bad idea but…
“Your firearms are locked up, and have been cleaned since they were last fired.”
Yeah they will be taken away just in case. You will be lucky if you ever see them again. And just like folks in High River you may find out that someone accidentally put a nail through your 5000$ scope… meanwhile the thugs will now know you are defenseless.
Smile, wave. Pray for patience and if possible, with planning, bring the war to their door on your terms.
I used to live in a small town (~2,000 people). The dental hygienist had an affair with a local business man. She was married to a farmer. A week later the local business man had his lovely front hedge and all his front grass plowed under. The locals retained a lot of sympathy for that farmer as did I.
Steve: So instead of tit for tat, or an eye for an eye, this was a case of a plow for a plow?
Yep. I’m going to Hell.. 🙂
Like an earlier poster said; dig, shovel, shutup.
Have your holes predug at remote locations. Get to know the local chop shop/car thief (you don’t want abandoned vehicles piling up). Band together with like minded neighbors. No one saw anything, no one was ever here, etc. etc. etc.
People really just don’t get how nasty brutish and short life can be without rule of law.
Sure Kevin.
Got a plan for when the cops come?
As a town, to a person, tell ’em to fuck off. You DO realise they rely almost ENTIRELY on the cooperation of the locals, right? And if your town is dumb enough to use the RCMP, freeze ’em the fuck out. No gas sales, no food, no talk. Sorry din see nuffin. Now git!
Local cops will know what is going on, and will leave you alome. If they don’t, well, the good ole boys know where they live.
Look for 15 years you guys just yelled at the internet instead of fixing your country. You will now enjoy a Third World lifestyle. Get used to it.
Geex, you gotta fix this captcha thing
If a criminal has knowledge of your crime he owns you.
Here’s the ontario law on dig bites:
The court may reduce your damages if the defendant can prove your actions contributed to the attack. For example, your final compensation may be reduced if the owner can prove you were provoking the dog at the time of the attack. The court will reduce your damages in direct proportion to the degree to which it finds you to be at fault for the attack.
The owner is not liable in cases where a person enters a property for the purpose of committing a criminal act. This means you cannot collect damages if the dog’s owner can prove you were trespassing on private property or engaged in theft or vandalism at the time of the attack. This applies except in cases where the court finds the keeping of a dog to be “unreasonable.”
Put up a “Private Property, Guard Dogs on Property” sign and then Release The Hounds!!
I’ve heard that geese (turkeys?) are pretty effective guard animals on the farm, too. Or let the bulls roam free. :-))
“The owner is not liable in cases where a person enters a property for the purpose of committing a criminal act.”
Lol, on what planet?
You might want to ask Gerald Stanley about that. Known criminals on a crime spree . Mention their names and history and you go to jail. And yes there are many farms with lots of room and track hoes and firearms. And some are going to go missing , stolen vehicles and all. And some people will get caught as everything is tracked today. Appoligies and money following I suppose.
A friend of mine is dead because his pet bull got loose. Bulls have no loyalty. Dogs are the thing.
“Imagine if these same people did this in the city? How quickly would police respond? How seriously would they be dealt with?”
They, and their ilk (antifa, G8 protesters) are doing these types of things in the cities already. The police just watch.
The police’s political masters have decreed that laws don’t matter if the cause is righteous (i.e. leftie) enough.
These intruders have already learned that they are immune from the law, and they learned it in the cities.
Seems to me you are all missing the obvious, remember the British farmer with his manure spreader?
Well one thing diary farms have in abundance is liquid cow shit.
Some even pump it from catchment to storage.
And small units for ATV’s are now built.?
Sorry about that comrade..so sorry.
There is no law,but what we make it.
poor wee police uniform when they try to attract your attention…
Oh so sorry..indeed.
I have two rotty x mastiff bitches to help keep the bears out of my apple trees. They are super affectionate to me and polite to my friends and neighbours. They bark if anyone comes near my fence and I can tell from the way they bark if there is danger and how much. They can sense the villains and in every case so far, deter them too. I have never had to show a bad guy my gun. My guns are locked up when I’m not using them. It takes about a minute for me to get the m97 out the safe, loaded and out the door. The dogs have always given me at least three. (A bold nasty old black bear.) They allow me to sleep nights if there are no critters about. My trees are not broken. My stuff stays where I put it. My dogs are well fed and my yard is littered with dog chewed bear bones.
Shrug.
Ontario’s farmers continue to support tit-sucking farm organizations that rubberstamp evermore restrictive legislation churned out by successive governments steered by fanatical environmentalists and vegans.
Doublecross Doug is appealing a recent court ruling that reined in the out-of-control OSPCA. And neither the OFA, the NFU, or the CFFO will lift a finger or spend a dime to challenge him, preferring to let their docile memberships suffer.
Put the jerks in a field with some wild Bramah Bulls and lets see how fast the idiots can run with some mad bulls in hot pursuit since the Nit-Wits have never sawa real farm animal outside some dumb movie they watch let the idiots have close up experience
seriously, I am SO keen on basic property rights if I had the resources and this situation happen, I, well, let me put this hypothetical scenario out there:
binga banga bonga. no more mobile breathing activists.
now, pile them all on the scoop out to the 100 acre field and dig a hole 25′ deep.
then reenact the mass grave thing. then put a layer of bovine manuvere in the hole to camouflage the body count.
then plow the entire field backwards and forwards.
and do it with a pristine conscience in the interests of my livestock.
