Because by praising the UN report on climate change, Trudeau signalled what his real carbon tax plan is for after the next election.

Why not? After all, those 30-year-old teenage refugees of military age that Prinz Dumkopf insists on importing aren’t going to pay for their “temporary” hotel rooms out of their own pockets.
All I know is that the CHEAPEST gasoline to be found in Jerry Brown’s California is more than $1.00/gal. MORE than the National AVERAGE gasoline cost.
https://www.gasbuddy.com/USA
$ 2.55/gal. Lowest State average – South Carolina
$ 3.80/gal. Highest State average -California (except Hawaii)
The CA AVERAGE price is $1.25/gal. MORE than the lowest State average. Why? Socialist Punishment coupled with FAKE “greenness” of BIG OIL. BIG OIL loves punishingly HIGH gasoline prices.
Next up, once all are portside, comes a wattage tax.
shocking, i know
The next tax Turdeau will introduce is a 1% wealth tax. That is 1% of your total wealth. The media will say “its only 1%, the rich can easily afford to pay it”
Of course you won’t hear about it before the election. But he’ll need it to pay for the carbon credits he’ll half to buy to meet his Paris commitments.
All a part of the progressives’ plan to get peoplekind off fossil fuels and onto the grid. Nothing spells TESLA like $18/litre. Of course the supercharging stations will be “free” and a substantial percentage of the electricity flowing to the Li-ion batteries will be coal & nat gas sourced…
Coming to a world near you. A return to a pre industrial lifestyle, rife with a subsistence level of living, harsh conditions, poverty, disease and early death.
A return to medieval feudalism is what the left wants. A pampered and isolated ruling elite will be served by an impoverished and ignorant proletariate. The latter will be the ones who will be practicing socialism, sharing their hunger, disease, and misery with each other.
Yup, the Middle Ages were grand times, weren’t they?
That is the plan. Ask Maurice Strong.
The left really don’t care about “saving the planet”, except, perhaps, for a few eco-fruitloops who worship Mommy Gaia. “Saving the planet” is simply an excuse for the left to seize power, create a permanent underclass it can bully into submission. and maintain those situations at all costs.
Like I said earlier, the left views the Middle Ages as the good old days. A round or two of something like the Black Death to kill off many of the unwanted unwashed would suit it just fine.
That would be US$52 per gallon if enacted here in the USA.
The progressives are drooling at the thought!
In Norway, gasoline is about 18 kr per litre (about $3 Cdn per litre). I pay about $1.30 per litre in Montreal.
In Canada, we all pay a federal excise tax (even Natives) of 10 cents per litre. That’s in effect a CO2 tax. I’ve never understood why we should have an extra “carbon” tax.
We are currently paying about Canadian equivalent $0.85 per litre in Oklahoma. The ‘progressives’ think that is a bad thing so they want to double or triple it.
there should be a tax on trudeau breathing
an unsustainable high one
I’m sure he buys carbon offsets with his familly fortune
I would laugh if scientists discovered that pot smoke causes climate change. It probably causes belief in it anyway.
One little mentioned side effect of the legalization of marijuana, is the increased consumption of electricity. As you will be allowed to grow 4 MJ plants, you will need grow-lights going 24 hours/7.
Between the legalization of MJ and the promotion of electric cars, will there be enough electricity in each province’s grid?
Between the legalization of MJ and the promotion of electric cars, will there be enough electricity in each province’s grid?
You forgot Bitcoin mining, which takes a lot of computing capability and a corresponding amount of power. I’m sure that many people are doing that as the value of the Hudson’s Bay peso has gone down since Prinz Dummkopf ascended to the throne and it’s likely to go lower.
It sounds like what Toronto, Vancouver, Redmonton, Montreal, and all the other socialist hell holes of Canada deserve.
Well, we are post national. So just north-north America. Not a country here.
Mark Levin’s Fox show, ‘Life, Liberty and Levin’ tonight featured scientist, Patrick Michaels, regarding ‘global warming’…It’s worth watching.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jf4IKe-pZH8&ab_channel=BrandNews
2 million years ago there were beavers and trees on Ellesmere Island. This is the most northerly part of Canada and its way further north than Alaska. So the earth was a LOT warmer then, and we are still here.
There is very little threat from global warming. If there was, then surely Al Gore, Leo deCaprio, Justin Turdeau, etc. would cut back on THEIR carbon usage. And I do not mean buying carbon credits – which is another scam. For example, they should live in smaller houses, take public transit, and invest in solar powered dirigibles so they can fly without spewing CO2 into the air
Thanks for that posting. I watched the show last evening and I posted the only link in Reader Tips I could find on Fox which is only the first 14 minute version.
18 dollar a liter gas sounds like civil war and Ottawa being burnt to the ground.
The effort to enrich the government always has the catch that prior to being passed into law that the majority must believe that it is someone else paying the freight. There are to my recollection three self evident facts, one of them pertains to this debate and thats the one that everyone is driven by self interest, they act on what is their good. Paying for someone else’s “good” is not in the top spot if they can’t afford one of Maslow’s first four items.
This is why the carbon tax, or whatever shade of makeup they apply to the porcine creature, will be a losing cause at the ballot box.
If the message is understood the voter response is going to be:
“You want to tax the air I breath? Seriously?”
Just read an article from Huff Post on MSN News this morning. Surprise, surprise, most Canadians are addicted to low interest rates and have amassed a lot of mortgage and consumer debt. The article claimed that it is expected that the Bank of Canada will increase the interest rate again on Oct 24 and that there are 3 scheduled interest rate increases for 2019. The article stated that even adding $ 100 of extra in terest to the average CAnadian household will cause major financial problems for people. Paying a carbon tax and increased cost of gas will lead to a financial collapse which will make 2008 look like nothing happened.
A tax, of course, to only be paid by Westerners, while Chinese little emperors fill-up their SUVs with gasoline now practically free due to an utter collapse of demand from the west.
Once again—the plan is to raise Chinese living standards to US living standards by 2030—and reduce ours to pre-industrial levels, with only the new overseas Chinese elite having enough to eat, never mind having cars. It’ll be like north Korea—no food, no fuel, nothing cheap and plentiful but the methamphetamine Canadians surplus to requirements (like their north Korean comrades) will be encouraged to use to drug themselves to madness and death.
Hey, no problem. They’ll raise the minimum wage to $100 per hour.
Vancouver will vote for it. Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto; they will vote for it. And therein lies the rub. Sanity is the minority position in Canada. It is not mainstream. Sane, is a radical and dangerous thing according to CBC.
The idiots known as the Edmonton city council would definitely vote for it without taking it to the people, just like it effectively made us into a sanctuary city without our permission.
I’m paraphrasing a couple of comments I read here and elsewhere…
If the the Glo-Bull Warming believers truly believed that CAGW was
about to cause the worldwide collapse of the ecosystem.
They would have promoted (the only REAL solution) with the instantaneous shutdown of the (WORLDs) automobile industry, the aircraft industry, the shipping industry, shutting down all coal, gas, and oil based electricity generation, and an immediate crash program of building nuclear powered generating plants and windmills all over the planet, it’s a Glo-Bull problem, remember?
Instead they use (the useless solution of socialist government tax the rich programs)…,
Higher taxes on only wealthy (Western) nations corporations and people, more billion dollar studies, more regulation on every aspect of our lives, and allowing developing nations like China and India to continue to produce higher and higher levels of CO2 (pollution).
Oh wait…only western developed nations are experiencing Glo-Bull Warming, developing nations have the right to Co2 pollute for as long as the Glo-Bull Warming west can pay for it.
Is there world wide Glo-Bull Warming or NOT?
India and China are considered developing nations and have plans to build 2000+ Coal power plants between them over the next 5 years.
If the developing world can build Co2 pollution emitting Coal fired power plants,
while we in the west cannot, the Hoax known as man-made Glo-Bull Warming,
will continue to be the HOAX that it is.
When do we go to war with planet destroyers China and/or India?
Comming from a leftist Glo-Bull Warming zealot rallying cry placard soon…
NOT!
So I will need to increase the limit on my kid’s credit card (@ university) to $2000 so he can buy one tank of gas? Thanks Justin!
get used to it, preparatory to the hyperinflation peeking out from over the horizon.
think not? when will the USA total debt breach 40, 50, 100 trillion? hmmmm?
the uber rich want this to happen. to them its just a ‘factor’ to multiply as they foreclose on property and pay a penny on the inflated dollar to buy up bargains.
the TURDoo is merely the visible useful idiot pawn on the front line. with all that cute hair too !!!
Sounds pretty good to me. Tax the damn gasoline to the sky to clear out the poor people clogging up the roads and keeping the rich dudes like me from zooming along in our Teslas!
Good luck getting the gas guzzling tow truck to come out when your piece o’shite Telsa breaks.
The Money tree piggy bank has gone away and zero USA Carbon taxes to fund the EU/UN fraud.. What they must do now is take more from the motley fools who line-up for abuse….YES! the EU/UN has lost most of their Funding for NGO action groups. Pay up Canada! they are your folks
Ever wonder why the British M16 agent “Steele” hated Trump… Yep! the USA was paying billions for cooperation from their agency, not any more chap….you need a new mother goose… WE lost 8-9 Trillion in the ME debacle and most of that money ended up in the EU countries…
Climate Change is an intelligence test.
20 000 years ago the Laurentian Ice Sheet covered Canada.
If Climate Change is bad, then I want the Ice Sheet back.
Less than 1000 years ago,the Vikings farmed Greenland,if Climate Change is bad,we need to warm Greenland up..
The 1930s set record high temperatures(For mercury in glass thermometers), which todays electronic thermometers have just barely surpassed..Oh wait they surpass the “corrected” historical records.
Not bad for a device that reads approximately 0.9C higher than the old devices, under identical conditions.
Damn shame that Climate Change is so hard to measure,so hard to get measurements of that we are reduced to arguing over a strange devise, the “Average Global Temperature” accurate to 0.001 C apparently.
Personally I fully support politicians promoting their plans to steal from us,it makes voting so much easier.
Desiring the taxing of the air we breath is expressing a deathwish..in my point of view that is,and having yourself killed by the state is now legal in Canada and apparently fully accepted by our parasitic overlords.
Madame Guillotine because it is our heritage.
I was talking with an acquaintance about how efficient the carbon tax really is, I didn’t agree with him but it was lively. In this conversation I misremembered the UN report and thought the goal was $500/tonne (an order of magnitude here or there and we’d be talking real money).
Now I thought about it some and figured that it might be an OK trade, if you permanently exchanged all government revenue for a carbon tax (this is a thought experiment, not a policy proposal). According to the Canadian Gov’t, in 2016 we put out about 700 million tonnes of Carbon Dioxide (https://www.canada.ca/en/environment-climate-change/services/environmental-indicators/greenhouse-gas-emissions.html) and in 16-17 they took in about $300 billion. This works out to a little less that $500/tonne.
So it would be actually revenue neutral to replace all federal revenue with a $500/tonne and everyone would have far more control over their taxes. I realize that there would be other impacts (good and bad) on the economy but I’ve seen reports that Sales Taxes are the least disruptive tax to the economy and this would effectively be global sales tax. So if you could forbid all other forms of taxation along with this, and require balanced budgets, you’d have a reasonable bargain, if we accept that the hysteria isn’t going away any time soon. As thought experiments go it has some merit.
But what that thought experiment is telling us is that the UN is advocating for 12 times as much taxation as we current face. You cannot make that revenue neutral and $18 gas is the least of your concerns.
Neat idea, but governments would never give us the ability to have control over how much tax we pay. The UN wants 12 times the present taxation. Considering that between federal, provincial and municipal taxes, they already take about 40% of a person’s income, multiplying that by 12X would be like the old company store, at the end of the year you would owe more than you make.
I agree that its little better than a neat idea. In my fever dreams, I saw it as, at best, a campaigning gimmick to call the bluff of the catastrophists.
Another way to look at the numbers, if you want to answer the rebuttal, “but technology and behavioural changes will reduce that substantially and you won’t really get taxation increasing by 12X” is to see what emission level would we have to achieve in order to reach a revenue neutral $5500/tonne. Since reducing emissions is the goal, that would seem to be a reasonable check.
The answer is 7%.
We would have to reduce our emissions TO (not by) 7% of the 2016 annual emissions for $5500/tonne to be revenue neutral. Now, if we switched to safe nuclear power like LFTR (which is not yet ready, I realize) we might get 1/3 of the way there, and short of mass teleportation technology, I don’t see how we’ll eliminate chemical-fuelled transportation enough to get us more than half way there. For the remainder, fortunately we already have the legislation in place.
Carbon footprint will soon be a fatal disease.
