Climate change – does anyone really care?

A review of recent public opinion polls reveals that the public, when asked only about climate change, will agree overall that it’s a serious problem that demands action. When asked to rank climate change against other concerns, however, it comes well down the list. The implication is that the public really isn’t worried about climate change. Certainly the high level of public support that would be needed to implement an aggressive and highly disruptive transition to low-carbon energy, such as that called for by the Paris Agreement, does not exist. The climate change lobby is in fact losing the public support battle.

Are people really concerned about climate change? What the polls tell us

85 Replies to “Climate change – does anyone really care?”

  1. What climate change? Same climate for my 50 plus years. No change. Or are they evacuating Vancouver as we speak?

    1. First of all, Climate change is a marketing term. It is about Global Warming related to human production of Greenhouse gases. Mostly Carbon Dioxide. CO2. OK. Let’s go ahead and accept the catastrophist claims. What is the fix? What policies should be enacted? I have one that I bet almost everyone would accept. You may recall that Plants take CO2 out of the atmosphere and put it into the soil. So here is a solutions that does NOT engage a worldwide bureaucracy, with carbon credits and multi trillion dollar projects to build gigantic machinery to remove CO2 from the atmosphere. NO carbon trading or carbon taxes. Are you ready? Here it is.

Initiate a major, worldwide policy initiative to grow more green leafy plants and trees. If I could be persuaded that the problem was real, (I am not), I would be fine with an additional tax to grow more trees. You would think tree huggers would also like the idea. But they won’t, will they. The solution doesn’t increase the strangulation hold that government has on our lives. It doesn’t advance the progressive agenda. So just keep this idea in your head for the next time you want to test an environmental activist who claims to care about the planet (as opposed to the leftist agenda).

      1. And the greenies would have to embrace nuclear energy. They won’t do that either since they already talked themselves into a corner since that was one of their earlier big-scare fundraisers.

    2. same as mine for 70 plus years. I have seen HOT summers, COLD summers, WET summers and the same thing applies to fall, winter and spring.

  2. Those behind the climate change fraud have media, education, actors believed by the public to be scientists, and government behind them.

Opposing this juggernaut of deception is common sense and peoples’ own experiences.

Even if the juggernaut is successful in getting the common man to regurgitate its talking points and junk science, virtually no intelligent man on the street truly believes this lie.

  3. I wish the climate would change. Here on the prairies we’re into the 5th week with daily temperatures that struggle to get above freezing. I’ve seen early winters before but Good God will September 10th be the start of winter on the prairies for 2018?

    1. Exactly. We left our home in a small town just north of Saskatoon on September 12th and returned October 8th and it appears that no grain harvesting had been done during almost a month. Some areas to the north of us have done almost no harvesting this fall.Too cold and wet. Southern Ontario was also very cool and wet, as even the grape crops in the Niagara area were beginning to rot on the vines necessitating extra labour costs to cut out.

    2. Amen. It’s an early winter in SW Iowa where we’ll be lucky to get in one more extremely chilly round of golf this year. Plus, you have the UK Uni mishandling and losing the data, Professor Mann fudging numbers to add drama to his climate models, suppression of alternative perspectives by scientific journals and NASA messing with the actual climate record since the climate itself isn’t cooperating. Only the unwashed and the unread take the situation seriously when the scientists and academics have beclowned themselves to this extent. And everyone here knows intuitively that if the U.N. Is involved, it’s all about bringing down the West through global wealth redistribution.

I am forever grateful to SDA for introducing me to Wattsupwiththat, et al.

  4. I bought into this crap until Climategate. Honest people have no need to hide their crimes because they commit none. The top climate scientists confessed to lying in their email exchanges.

It seems to be ambiguous CAPTCHA day.

    1. I never bought it. By happenstance, I started following this scam from Day 1. Around 20 years ago, I noticed that data was being cherry-picked from weather stations. Weather stations that showed no warming were never included in results, such as in Alert, NWT. Those chosen were stations that used to be in the middle of a farmer’s field, but had since become urbanized, and were now surrounded by asphalt and often close to A/C exhaust vents.

At the time, I believed the scam to be isolated to those collecting the data. As more and more “proofs” of “global warming” (the term at the time) were easily shown to be faked, I thought the scam would soon be revealed. East Anglia proved the whole thing to be a conspiracy, and yet governments worldwide acted as though nothing happened. That blew me away.

Now I understand that this is the way the world has worked for centuries. Governments have long been owned. Politicians are puppets. Media is not independent. Education is propaganda. Scientists who wish to receive funding will do as they’re told. Those with principles lose their jobs.

As such, the unsuspecting public buys the lie because they listen to those who they believe are worthy of their trust. Whenever cracks appear in that trust, the machine patches the crack as soon as possible. If need be, they’ll sacrifice a player or two to maintain the lie.

The goal is the lessening of the freedoms and wealth of the populace. Back to the good old days when the people were serfs.

      And Rome ruled.

      1. Worse than excluding northern temperature stations, was the continued reliance on southern stations, built in quiet rural locations. Only later to be compromised through developement, such as shopping malls, and asphalted parking lots.
Not affecting ambient temeratures, oh no, never.
        Right…….

      2. CAGW frauds never attempted to disprove their hypothesis, they told themselves they had “factored in” the sun, the wind, cosmic rays and everything else, like the ocean, that they discovered they hadn’t factored in.

Then lo and behold, one day they announced it was proven, there was consensus (nonsense term), so anyone getting in the way was a climate holocaust denier. Ah, the birth of contemporary fascism.

I posted a Brietbart article about an esteemed, though now villainized, scientist who audited one of the climate change datasets. Remember, they all “agree,” there is consensus. That includes the models.

Except for their amateurish attempts at statistical analysis according to the auditor. When he swept aside their outright fabrications, adjustments and meaningless measurements (all rounded up I’ve heard), he found that global temperatures have risen .4 deg C in the past seven decades, anthropogenic or otherwise. The public intuitively knows this is bs, knowing a tax grab when they see one.

So, to be “nice,” the public pays lip service to “battling climate change” but that stops when it hurts them.

It should be full stop on the national carbon rip off. But I suspect our boy blunder will persist, and his handlers are big fans of AGW largesse, so he may go in. If he does that will hurt him, as will more dilly dallying on pipelines, particularly Canada East getting back on its feet after a beatdown from the paralysis by analysis watermelons.

The Liberals are more than happy to hand over our environmental and resource developments powers to Paris partiers.

I’m not sure at all the voters will go for this, given the high Grit casualty rates in provincial elections of late.

With the NDP set to take a similar thrashing in AB, with what’s been going on in the US with their allies in Demland (they go lower, they kick them, they even “stop” being civil), are we seeing a possible left of left battle in 2019, with climate loonies front and centre?

        1. Before they say that “climate change” is due to increased CO2, they must prove it is NOT part of a natural cycle or due to other variables. They have not bothered to do this so they do not deserved to be listened to.

          1. I would suggest that all those who embrace anthropogenic global warming cease exhaling this very minute.

          2. Seems to me the ONLY cycle we have evidence of are the Ice AGES…of which I do Believe there was more than just 1. And for damned sure they were not caused by CO2.

The SUN is and will ALWAYS be the Primary arbiter of CLIMATE on Earth. EVERYthing else depends on it. This whole pile of this disgusing Hubris filled notion that CO2 is “warming” our planet totally discards the FACT of Solar Output variability. Those that do so, are to me, Simply useful idiots which pretty much sums up all of the ECO-Nazi Lobby IMO.

I think we are going into a cooling period not unlike the Maunder Minimum experienced in the Mid 1600’s to about 1710 and correlating with the SAME lack of sunspots we now see in the Sun…its possible right.?

            2nd thing….

As per the latest UN IPCC Report and corroborated previously by Christina Figueres & Ottmar EdenHoffer – 2 Excs at said IPCC.

“climate change is not about the environment, rather it is about changing the economic Model of the past 150 years”

Sounds to me like a George Soros Open Society POLICY Statement – They simply want YOUR MONEY and will do it via the utter BS of Renewables and Carbon Taxation to create their Socialist-Marxist Nirvana on Earth….one with Significantly less population of course. (GM Butts previusly procaliming: 1 Billion is all Gaia can Handle).

But I do see light at the end of the Tunnel: CAQ in Quebec – Ford in Ontario while here in Alberta Kenney will ANNIHILATE the Commies in Edmonton in the Spring…and with luck…??? maybe a combination of MAX and the wanker Scheer in a Coalition come October to rid ourselves of the DISEASED Garbage in the PMO.

k..off to fill up my 200 Litre TitanTank w/Diesel and Create some CO2..we could use much higher levels than 400ppm by a Long Fkn shot.

        2. “…So, to be “nice,” the public pays lip service to “battling climate change” but that stops when it hurts them. …”

Just so. When the pollster asks “Do you think climate change is a serious problem?” everyone who has been told by the media that climate change is a serious problem knows the correct answer is “Yes.” And everyone knows if the next question is “Do you think the government should take action?” the correct answer is “Yes.”

And then the pollsters never ask:

Have you planted some extra trees yourself to absorb CO2? Have you given up driving everywhere and switched to walking and/or cycling? Have you stopped using air travel for holidays? Have you added extra insulation to your dwelling, equipped it with solar power, turned down your thermostat and taken to wearing warmer clothes indoors in winter, not to save money but to save the planet? Have you stopped buying anything that isn’t produced locally so your consumption won’t entail shipping goods long distances?

If they asked those questions they’d get answers that demonstrate overwhelmingly that while most people will say climate change is real and a serious problem, nobody takes it seriously as an urgent and personal problem. The simple and obvious reason they don’t is because they don’t really believe it.

          1. CO2 is not now nor ever has been a problem. If the level of CO2 drops too low we all die. It could get to 7000 ppm and nothing would happen except increased growth of vegetation.

  5. I see the U.N has stated that we have 12 more years to survive unless we tax the hell out of people to stop climate change. Al Gore has endorsed this opinion so I guess it must be true.

      1. Yeah, those mothers will only remove the Z06 gear shift from my cold, dead hands. I ought to run downstairs right now and triple digit it to KC just because those asshats really p.m.o.

    1. That’s a big step up from previous announcements:

      The execrable Ban Ki Moon:

“We have just four months. Four months to secure the future of our planet. The world is looking to Korea for leadership.” August 11 2009.

Or, perhaps, PROF!! Stephen Schneider, Stanford Professor of Climatology, lead author of many IPCC reports. 1989:

“We need to get some broad based support, to capture the public’s imagination…So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements and make little mention of any doubts…Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest.”

The late Michael Crichton astutely noted:

“Whenever you hear the consensus of scientists agrees on something or other, reach for your wallet, because you’re being had”.

  6. The latest IPPC is raising alarm bells with the media– now we only have 10 years left. Moreover, a rise in temperature of 1.5 is tolerable, but a rise of 2° is catastrophic. This just strains all credibility. First of all, temperature is not a constant. It goes up and down based on a multitude of factors. We are told that thousands of species will be eliminated — these must be the microscopic kind that come and go all the time. What is amazing to me is that it is as though these people are completely unaware of adaptation, evolution. How did species survive other warm periods and cold periods? I believe they adapted. Nature is good at that.

    1. from 100KM to 400KM up, lots of energy lost, and you know what the 2nd law of thermodynamics says, rite yah dimwit………………………………..

    2. I studied it in 1988. I wasn’t short-sighted – I looked ahead, even availed myself of at least six pair of glasses over the years. Thirty years of failed predictions.Still waiting.

  7. In other news the top selling vehicles in North American are #1 Ford F-150, #2 Chevy Silverado and #3 Dodge RAM – all trucks.

Of the top 20 best selling vehicles only 7 are not trucks or SUVs. The only vehicles that come close to being fuel efficient are the Honda Civic (#8) and Toyota Corolla (#10).

Don’t pay attention to what I say, pay attention to what I do.

  8. The last time they said we had only ten years, Rush Limbaugh grabbed the quote from Al Gore and put a timer on his web site.
This scam has the ability to fool folks based on credential inflation.
We take it as assumption that someone with a degree is smarter than we are, I stress assumption as this is not based in confirmation of said credentials but accepting on good faith they know what they speak of.
But if we apply the Regan analysis of the liberal mind, these are not necessarily bad or stupid people, they just know a great many things that are just not true. Having never been criticized or subjected to life outside of their peer group, they presume they are the smartest people in the world and any sceptics are just uninformed uneducated deniers of “the science”.
In their mind its the only plausible explanation, because to admit the “science” is flawed would also be an admission that they dedicated their lifes work to nothing.
Thats a hard pill to swallow considering the cost of higher education.

    1. From somewhere in the great beyond Harold Camping is sympathizing with the UN thinking See, guys, it’s not that easy predicting the end of the world and “even the most sincere and zealous of us can be mistaken.”

Interesting to note that Camping’s true believers weren’t all uneducated hicks. From Vice “One striking thing about the group/movement was its diversity, in both racial, ethnic terms, and socio-economic terms,” said Charles Sarno, an associate professor of sociology at Holy Names University who’s spent the past few years writing a book about Camping and Family Radio “The educational backgrounds appeared to vary greatly from Ph.D.s to high school graduates. And the group did seem to attract a disproportionate number of engineers and engineering types, like Camping himself.”
      https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/yvqkwb/life-after-doomsday-456

I think that for many woke followers belief in catastrophic climate change is part of the woke religion. It’s their doomsday/eden myth. The prediction, failure, rationalizations and new judgement day prediction of Armageddon is normal for doomsday zealots. The 2040 UN climate Armageddon date will pass, all will be well and the UN will pick a new End Of Times date.

      1. yea….just like the numerous Clowns I’ve seen on Downtown Street Corners:

“the end is nigh, repent ye sinners”
        Y2K
        Mayan Calendar

        Blah Blah Blah

The Proclamation list will continue to grow as long as mankind is on this planet…

  9. As I said yesterday, people want to be on the side of the good guys. So it’s not suprising that when asked about climate change they agree it’s a problem. Yet, climate change support falls drastically when it is ranked against other concerns *and* when costs are attached.

Why ask progressives and economists? Imagine another question : Is the lack of racial and gender equality a concern? Most people would say yes – the good guy answer. Follow up question : would you personally give up your job or your child’s spot in a top school to a woman or minority to create that equality? Obviously, the honest answer for most people would be, no. For example, in New York progressive parents fought tooth and nail to stop new rules at a top rated public school that would increase diversity. Also look what happens when cities want to increase density or put affordable housing in rich, progressive neighborhoods. Do white pro-diversity scolds quit their great jobs to promote minorities? Yet no one calls them diversity deniers or pro-poverty.

Polls without discussing costs (money and personal) and trade-offs are meaningless. It’s easy to be a good guy in the abstract.

  10. C’mon, people! Saving the Earth is a PRIORITY – I guess… Or should be – I guess… And best of all, our moral and intellectual superiors at the U.N. IPCC have mapped-out exactly what needs to happen, to make it happen:

    – Gasoline to $247.00 a gallon, and
    – Give the U.N. 122 trillion dollars.

Sounds perfectly reasonable, but me? I got the hydro bill this pay period, so…

    – Not this week, not lookin’ good for next.

  11. The UN’s IPCC recently admitted there is no increase in catastrophic events such as hurricanes or floods.

[…] …In a stunning implicit admission, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), a scientific and intergovernmental body under the auspices of the United Nations that revels in trumpeting the dangers of climate change, revealed in a new report that not only is there little evidence that the incidence of extreme events such as drought, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes has increased globally, but the extreme events are little affected by greenhouse gases. … [..]

  12. Two million years ago there were trees and beavers on Ellesmere island (the most northerly part of Canada).
So obviously the earth was a lot warmer then. And the planet is still here.

So do I care if the planet gets warmer – nope
But for all those who still believe that global warming is a problem, I note that Turdeau, Gore, Suzuki, etc etc have not REDUCED THEIR carbon production. Justy, Al, Dave buying carbon credits does not count – you need
to really reduce YOUR carbon production.

Oh and for the Greens, NDP and Liberals, why don’t you fly on solar powered dirigibles? The technology to build them exists.

    1. It amuses me when an ice sheet melts, permafrost thaws or a glacier recedes. It’s reported as “unprecedented” but researchers inevitably find evidence of flora, fauna and humans inhabiting the area over multiple time periods. If the thawing/receding has happened even once before or ,often, many separate times in its geological history then”unprecedented” must have a very different definition for journalists.

  13. Just imagine the total lack of interest exhibited by the public if the media would do its job and report on the amateurism, cherry-picking, incompetence and outright fraud involved in the climate change fear-mongering. Despite the media’s best efforts to keep the narrative alive and well, people in general have seen through the masquerade or simply don’t give a rat’s ass. Even my favourite Alaskan reality shows can’t resist and throw in references to warm temperatures, cold temperatures, rising rivers, dried up rivers, lack of wildlife and abundant wildlife to the climate change boogeyman.

  14. Nobody polled my opinion. Because I am willing to spend $0.00 of my money to “save the planet from Global Warming”. Because it’s a fools errand. A total WASTE of $. We have far more pressing needs that could use my $$.

We have far exceeded the marginal utility of dollars spent on “Global Warming”. OK … so we gave a bunch of “Environmental Science” graduates a government (taxpayer-funded) job. That’s enough. Time for them to get a REAL job they’re qualified for … like WalMart Greeter.

  15. I will believe there is a crisis when people who tell me there is a crisis start acting like there is. Where is Justin? Flew to another junket (La francophonie) onboard the Airbus with a planeful of syncophant reporters.

  16. Looking at the results of that Pew Poll the results would suggest that those polled were either a very select group, afraid to be honest or just stupid.
Having lived through “the ice age is coming” (’70s version of this fear mongering program), there’s a giant hole in the ozone (run for your life), global warming (here on the prairies our winters have been getting longer (time to change the name boys), climate change (sorry don’t know anyone who’s been around long enough to notice these century spanning changes) and now the excess of what used to be called plant food (okay everyone do your share to help save the planet, stop breathing out.)

I don’t hesitate to tell people I might meet what I think about this giant scam and if they don’t like it, oh well I probably don’t want them as friends anyway.

  17. Even those among our master class who take the climate change nonsense seriously (and don’t just want a cut of potential trillions in carbon tax revenues) don’t actually care about saving the world from climate change.

They’re the ones throwing money at missions to Mars, so they can escape Earth and leave the rest of us to die of the heat.

That’s their approach to all problems, real and imagined—do everything in their power to make sure someone else pays the penalty when catastrophe strikes, and do nothing to actually solve the problem while there is any realistic chance of doing so.

    1. “…..so they can escape Earth and leave the rest of us to die”

Earth or Mars: Which will be the “B” Ark?

Also, given the track record of “the anointed class” in the space programme…………..

  18. And anyways…

We are stardust, we are golden,
We are ten billion year old carbon,
And we got to get ourselves
    …back to the garden.

Joni Mitchell – The Woodstock Song
Performed at Woodstock by Crosby, Stills & Nash

    1. So THATS what that lyric was … “billion year old carbon”! Ha! I always heard it as something like … “We have been all broken hearted” … Who knew Joni was so … scientific … in her lyrics.

And as a child of the 60’s/70’s I still LOVE Joni Mitchell … and consider BLUE one of the greatest lp’s ever. And love CSN and sometimes Y. But mostly love Stephen Stills delta blues rooted guitar work. Yep. love all the music of THE most extremist leftist nutjobs to ever get a microphone. Oh well …

    2. “Performed at Woodstock by Crosby, Stills & Nash”

No. Joni’s boyfriend Graham Nash told her about Woodstock and she wrote the song. She did the Dick Cavett Show instead.

  19. Am I fed up with being told how to live and think and behave by international tax-free bureaucrats at the UN who travel the world in luxury.

Do not to travel the world
    Do not to eat meat
Do pay obeiscence to the climate god and their priests – them.

Yes I do ignore them. Can I stop paying them?

    1. YOU are not supposed to:
      Travel
      Eat Meat
      Have Children

They are above all that as They Jet to Exotic Locations for Virtue Signaling Climate Change Conferences and meals at all the Finest Four Star Restaurants.

DO As They SAY, Not As They DO.

  20. Is it just a coincidence that this report has been released not long after Doug Ford legislated an end to the cap and trade program in Ontario?

    Juxtaposition that to the truism
“Until they run out of other people’s money “

  21. Ask Floridians if they are starting to take global warming seriously, and how much more do they think they can take?

    1. I guess I qualify then….I’m a native Floridian….the back of my house is 16 ft from the ocean…..and the water level has not increased at all in the past 60 years
I know of no Floridians that pay any attention to it at all

      1. We’ll be joining you in around 18 months depending on permitting time frames, Palm Coast. We hate to leave this lovely state and acreage, but the winters are cold, and we’re burning daylight.

    2. The US went over 10 years without a serious hurricane (3 or greater) instead of the usual 2 or 3 a year.

  22. I expect to see all greens and NDP swear they will give up all hydrocarbons. They can start with giving up their gas burning cars and take public transit or walk.
as for planes, well they can use Skype or other video conferencing
and they should get Lead Now, Tides Foundation, and Calpers to immediately do the same and invest in solar powered dirigibles 🙂

  23. Our Dear Leader cannot even achieve national consensus and action on climate change within our own country.

There are almost 200 sovereign states in the world.

Does anyone actually believe that there will ever be serious global consensus and action on climate change?

It’s almost irrelevant whether climate change is true or false; the issue defeats itself because it is too vast in scope.

On the other hand, that makes it ideal for endless progressive and totalitarian (the two are by no means mutually exclusive) posturing.

    1. “Well, they have sucked Andrew into believing their scam.”

It’s worse than that, Ken. He doesn’t care if it’s true or not. He’s just doing what his little poli-sci grads in their elf suits tell him to; because he’s been told that this is his path to the power he so desperately wants.

    2. Well Ken, I’m not sure whether it was “they” or Andrew that was doing the sucking, check their knee pads!!!!

    1. SPOT On Buddy….been saying that for over 15 years….AGW..?
“Look up dispshit, its the SUN”

People laugh…then stop after the beginnings of some kernel of truth in the statement arises in their cranium. Except for the Fully Indoctrinated..they just start to denigrate – its all they know.

  24. If there were no (climate) change, then there would be no layers. Just a uniform single layer of sandstone from top to bottom.
I look in awe at the layers visible in the badlands and rockies and try to imagine the events that had to transpire over millions and billions of years to create the view I see today. How many years between this layer and its neighbor? What (climate) change occurred back then to make it happen?

    History written in the layers

Oh and by the way, humans and humanity have only affected the top few inches of the topmost layer.
I am a baby scientist, so I know these things.

    1. Just think of how much wealth could have been redistributed if each of those layers could have had a Marxist tax imposed on them. Noah could have had his ark paid for with tax dollars.

  25. The earth is closed loop system. There are not new elements being thrown into play and there are no variables being witnessed that have not occurred many times before. Carbon excess begets plant life excess, plant life excess begets oxygen excess, up and down and around we go. Milankovich cycles with eccentricity every 100,000yr, axial tilt every 40,000 yr and precession every 23,000, combined with solar cycles determines our entire climate. End of story. Believing a trace gas controls our climate is right up there with spaghetti flying monsters.

p.s. for fun, fill a ball pit with a million yellow balls, but make 400 of them orange, see if you can even find them.

    1. No, the Earth is not a closed loop.

Energy flows in and out constantly. That big yellow thing in the Sky showers the Earth with huge amounts of energy. Air at the edge of space slowly sublimes into the solar system vacuum. Meteors and comets have bombarded our planet throughout our planet’s history. One theory is that a huge cometary bombardment brought the oceans of water we now have.

The earth is NOT a closed system. Turn the Sun down by three percent and we all freeze.

  26. The tragedy-on-our-doorsteps version of AGW/climate change/extreme weather is steered by parasites and fueled by fools.

  27. FYI, this was in response to a Star article claiming that according to polls Canadians “favour environment over jobs.” Here’s what a real question should look like.

“Would you be in favour of spending $887 per family on carbon taxes to achieve a global temperature reduction of 0.00015⁰C annually by 2022 (this is equivalent to one Celsius degree in 6500 years)?

    Carbon tax cost benefit calculation:
While being extremely evasive about costs, the Federal government tells us that if all Provinces fully participate in the proposed carbon tax scheme Canadian emissions could be reduced by 90 million tonnes by 2022. Going by past experience this is likely an optimistic estimate, but let’s do the math.

    https://www.canada.ca/en/services/environment/weather/climatechange/climate-action/pricing-carbon-pollution/estimated-impacts-federal-system.html

Peer-reviewed studies published in respected science journals claim that each tonne of CO₂ emissions increases global temperature by 0.0000000000017⁰C per year. Simple arithmetic shows that (if the scientists are right!) our proposed carbon taxes could defer global warming by an unmeasurable 0.00015⁰C annually – this is one Celsius degree in 6500 years. The spread between Toronto’s average annual high (27⁰C) and low (-11⁰C) is 253,000 times this figure.

    https://phys.org/news/2016-01-temperature-co2-emissions.html#jCp

It is impossible to accurately predict how much it would cost to achieve the claimed emissions reduction. Various mitigation opportunities and methods vary wildly in costs and the governments’ record in project management is spotty. One Canadian government study estimates the cost at around $100 per tonne. This suggests that the cost would be around 9 billion. This works out to be $887 per family.

    1. – Here – let me:

“Would you be in favour of spending $887 per family on carbon taxes to – possibly, if our models are actually working now – achieve a global temperature reduction of 0.00015⁰C annually by 2022 (this is equivalent to one Celsius degree in 6500 years)?

      Fixed it fer ya! =D

  28. Well Gee! I read all the comments, and nobody mentions the fact that some larger Volcano’s pump out more C02 in a few weeks, than we, (Humans) collectively put out in fifty to a hundred years. Every year, there are dozens of eruptions, large and small. Anyone remember that giant volcanic eruption in Greenland or Iceland a few years back? I don’t remember which country, but it had some idiotic unpronounceable name. They had to shut down flights to Europe for a week. That single eruption dumped out more C02 in one week than humans do in one hundred years! This whole carbon credits malarkey is a giant SCAM! It’s a tax grab of monumental proportions. The Campi Flagree (can’t spell that either) a super volcano in Italy, erupted 25 to thirty thousand years ago. They have found ash deposits seven hundred miles away, in eastern Europe, that even today in it’s compressed layer is four feet thick. It was estimated that the original layer right after the eruption and before compressing, was more than fifty feet thick. That would have wiped out all life plant, insect and animal, in a very large area, perhaps in a two or three thousand mile circumference. The planet survived, and we, humans, are still here. Go figure!

  29. The Maldives are to be underwater this year, New York underwater in 2003 yet this greedy leftists still push this shiite to fund their social programs and themselves.

    1. What again? How many times is this now? I thought New York was still under the year 2,000 thick layer of ice that predicted in the 1970s.

It is amazing the number of suckers that keep falling for this scam. Now we know how the chicken little story came about.

  30. You can’t fight religion. I have been told for years that you cannot legislate morality…

Then why is Saskatoon imposing a garbage tax? If you can’t legislate morality, why does taxing because of your religious convictions work?

Whatever happened to separation of church and state?

  31. So, AGW huh? Only got 10 years to “fix” things. Why are we bidding on an 2026 winter Olympic dream in Calgary?

  32. Politicians (formerly known as high priests) have been throwing virgins into volcanoes to stop solar eclipses since the beginning of time. It was then as it is now simply a means to control the populace. Why would they stop now? The terms and references have changed but the scam stays the same.

  33. Yeah, few care.

That is why you may have noticed in past few days that the media cartel began masturbating peoples brains.

It is so bloody unbelievable that the arrogant `scientists` actually tell people that they know how to stop climate change.

Of course there will be those that will agree. They will not ponder for a minute the scope of climate and that it will do what climate will do, unless the superman returns, he will fix it for them.

    Severely normal person will not.

    1. Yes, I detest the obvious media propaganda push. The same message coming from all media outlets. The communist regimes of the USSR would have been envious of the total saturation of the population.

  34. I have yet to see Greenpeace using sails on their ships to putter all over the globe lecturing everybody on how to live a green lifestyle they use Fossil Fuels all the time their doing their Do AS I Say Not As I Do skits
