    1. If I were in the White House, I wouldn’t be pissed … I’d be thankful. Because in any negotiation it is essential to know what motivates your opponent. Is it protection of Canadian Farmers? OK … good to know. But when your opponent is claiming the “moral right” to destroy you (Isn’t that what should be done to tyrants like Hitler?) … then all “negotiations” come to a screeching HALT. Because, of course, she’s DEAD WRONG. So now … it is WAR. She’s declared WAR on you with such spurious charges. So now she gets NOTHING. Nada. The discussion is OVER (even if they all keep meeting and giving press interviews in French). The ball is in Canada’s Court. Except for dairy, banking .insurance , broadcasting, music ,poultry, anything cultural and who knows what else . So if they don’t get a deal signed, was today still a big win ?

All they had to do was drop supply management and would have been at least half way to make a deal happen. Could have been done last year already. There would have no tariffs on aluminum or steel, business as usual. Now we can expect a 25% tariff on Canadian autos shipped to the US. I can not believe UNIFOR president Jerry Diaz being as quiet as he is ready to help throw the Canadian auto workers under the bus as well.

  17. Big picture: Nada happens until after the mid-term elections here in the US. Republicans hold the House…then the negotiation truly begins and concessions will be on the table for Canada. If the Democrats take the House, Impeachment hearings start within 60 days…and Trudeau’s cadre cheers them on hoping for a globalist economic team to take things over in the US.

    This whole Freeland thing is unimportant, and likely the “source” stating people were “pissed” was only saying it as a negotiating tactic or as a personal amusement.

      1. Nold, they’re stalling. In the interim, they are antagonizing. The very fact that they are antagonizing is virtue signaling for who they expect to be calling the shots mere months from now. It’s a gamble, but not necessarily a bad one. Personally, I expect the Democrats to control the House. They’ve been busy redistricting (against State constitutions but co-opted the various state supreme courts to do their bidding in states like PA, NC, GA etc). There is no real intention to truly negotiate right now because, like I said, if the Dems take the House, Impeachment hearings will follow shortly after. For those who think they need an actual basis for an Impeachment, I would remind them that the same folks concocted this whole Russian collusion nonsense and propagated it through illegal means with absolutely no repercussions. In fact, they’re still pursuing it, and any Kabuki Theater investigation goes away as well.

    3. I’m not in USA so will defer to anyone who knows the system. While the house with simple majority may initiate impeachment proceedings a 2/3 majority in the senate is required to vote for impeachment. Dems will not win a 2/3 majority in mid term election.
      Sure impeachment proceedings may cause havoc in ability of the WH to effectuate whatever, But Trump will not be a lame duck. He will still have veto power. He can still impose section 232 tariffs.
      And the gloves will come off in any engagements in the streets.
      Canada’s NO 1 objective in the negotiations was to tar Trump so the GOP looses the mid-terms. That’s evident by the tone and volume of vitriol coming from Freeland et al. meant for MSM to propagandize. AND by Canada targeting GOP constituencies with its retaliatory tariffs.

    She left Russia after an open debate began there regarding whether homosexuals should be trusted to raise children. Masha took that personally as a threat to take away the brats she had bought from an orphanage.

    Trump is not a tyrant. The perverts of the western world are just unhappy that he doesn’t agree that Russia is the root of all evil in this world, or much care that Russia has the courage to stand up to the pervert mafia.

  23. I watched the beginning of that show. I was flabbergasted that Heather Reisman would say what she did about Donald Trump. It was all Russia, Russia, Putin for a couple of minutes. She’s the CEO, supposed to be the CEO, of a fairly large organization. Putin owns Trump she said, almost in those words.
    And then she tossed it to Freeland. How to set up your star guest who’s in the middle of negotiations with Putin’s “c**k holster” (that epithet came from the a$$hole Colbert way last year). Freeland stumbled around for a bit trying to escape without saying anything about Trump. I turned it off shortly after that.
    An aside – the Governor of California, televised, on Trump: …”something’s got to happen to this guy, because if we don’t get rid of him, he’s going to undermine America and even the world.” In that context, maybe two Canadians chortling like schoolgirls gossiping about a dorky classmate isn’t worth getting exercised over.
