Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Toronto Star always has been the Canadian dean of fake and biased news in Canada. Constantly making up bullsheet.
At least a 30:30 has some hitting power…Not much from a 223 (22 Hornet) NATO issue…..spray thing
This is a perfectly legal rifle to own in Canada. It’s called a “mare’s leg rifle” and is manufactured to look like that. Rossi in Italy calls them the Rossi Ranchhand and exports them to Canada. There are other manufacturers as well. It’s patterned from the rifle Chuck Connors carried in The Rifleman. I think John Wayne carried a similar one too but I can’t remember the movie. There is nothing “sawed off” about it. It isn’t even restricted, you could probably buy one in your local Canadian Tire. The only illegal thing about it were the two escaped cons that had it in their possession.

Many years ago, when I was on my Canadian Forces “recruiting skills” course, we had a reserve public affairs officer provide some instruction on dealing with the media. He was a journalist himself and had some excellent anecdotes and advice. One thing that stuck in my mind was his caution about reporters:
“The reporter who comes to interview you at your recruiting centre knows nothing – absolutely nothing – about the military. When that reporter finishes with you, they’re going straight over to cover the dog show in the local arena. And you can be quite sure that they also know nothing – absolutely nothing – about dogs.”
Add to that the fact that they take poor notes, can’t spell, and think everything with tracks and/or a turret is a tank.
JJM. I recall several years ago when a light twin engine aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff near Milton, Ontario. The report said one engine had fallen off. I immediately surmised the reporter had been told the plane had “lost an engine,” common parlance that the motor had failed. It turned out I was correct. The engine did not fall off. Fake news is not always intentional, it’s often due to laziness or stupidity, or both.
I like the possibility of a chainsaw bayonet attachment. Just go Ash Williams on all those Evil Dead!
Is it gas-powered or electric?
Steve, Wind powered!!

Methane!
It might actually be a sawed-off rifle and not an actual Rossi carbine. The lever shape is different, and the distance from the foregrip to the muzzle is too long. Plus, there’s no front sight, which should be behind the piece that wraps the barrel and the magazine tube. I’m prepared to give Claire a pass on that part of it, since the only way to know for sure if it was sawn down is to examine the muzzle area and other places for tool marks. Smarter people than I would have to comment on whether or not an after-market mod such as this would be illegal.
So there actually is a .30-.30 shotgun?
I was waiting for someone to point that out Ken. 🙂
Anybody else notice that the STOCK on that ‘shotgun’ was “sawed-off”?
