Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

‘Carelessness’: UK, Canadian governments leave ‘sensitive data’ exposed to public on Trello website
UK and Canadian government officials have allowed sensitive data, on cloud-based website Trello, to be published on the open web and indexed by Google. Experts attributed the blunders to “human error” and “carelessness”.
The discovery was first made in April by cyber-security researcher Kushagra Pathak, who by using advanced Google search queries “found that a lot of individuals, companies, and organizations are putting their sensitive information on their public Trello boards,”

I described the strange case of Bradley Barton from Ontario, Canada, who, in March 2015, was found not guilty of the first-degree murder of Cindy Gladue, an indigenous sex worker who bled to death at the Yellowhead Inn in Edmonton, having sustained an 11cm wound on her vaginal wall. The defense argued that Barton accidentally caused Gladue’s death during rough but consensual sex, and the court agreed.
Yet, this case doesn’t just counteract our basic ethic intuitions – a man brutally murders a woman during sexual activity, but he walks free because “he didn’t mean it.” Rather, the most disturbing aspect of the case is that, conceding to the demand of the defense, the judge allowed Gladue’s preserved pelvis to be admitted as evidence. It was brought into court, the lower part of her torso was displayed for the jurors (incidentally, this is the first time a portion of a body was presented at a trial in Canada). Why would hard-copy photos of the wound not be enough?

What is Maxime Bernier up to? He seems intent on political martyrdom, issuing tweets daily that are apparently designed to infuriate the leader of the Conservative party, Andrew Scheer.
Note when reading the column that the opinion writer is no friend to the Conservatives.
https://nationalpost.com/opinion/john-ivison-berniers-move-into-karaoke-trump-territory-threatens-conservative-electoral-success
Yes. It is ironic that Scheer is only leader because of Quebec dairy farmers. Mad MAx obviously has a game plan although I don’t know what it is. There is a vacuum provincially though. Let’s see what happens this weekend.
Ken, I sped-read the National Post and the Globe and Mail this morning (Thursday morning) and both newspapers are on the warpath against Mr. Bernier. Both papers it appears support multiculturalism and and increases in usskilled immigration.
Also, CBC News this morning is urging Scheer and company to throttle Berner. The media cartel is closing ranks to cheerlead Trudeau’s multiculturalism forward. I am not sure that is good tactics. The Quebec electorate appear to be tilting rightward, not that the corporate media seem to notice.
Bernier is holding a press conference at 1 PM in Ottawa. Could be interesting.
Apparently Bernier is not going to the Conservative Convention in Halifax.
Max is highlighting what the upcoming election should be about. The media is up to its usual mischief trying to sideline Max. Scheer will lose a lot of support if he dumps Max. Max is about the only voice making the case that the Conservatives are not the same as the Liberals. I think he has been reasonably thoughtful in his comments. Someone should ask Rempel (given current patterns) what difference would it make if Trudeau or Scheer wins? Scheer seems to be going along with much of Trudeau’s obvious incompetence.
Exactly. I thought Rempel had more sense, but I guess the Laurentian Elite have her number.
@ 10:27 Ken
Yes, saw that…they have her number. Rempel now suddenly has developed Stockholm Syndrome.
( Trump talked about this during his campaign, as soon as ‘they’ hit the Capital city, something happens to them and they forget where they came from and their constituents…)

You said ” Scheer will lose a lot of support if he dumps Max.”
Or, it could be the other way around, Max should dump them. If he had his own party, he could be the next Prime Minister of Canada. I would laugh so… just to see the mud on Trudeau’s face!

It is legal to burn the Canadian Flag, in Canada. The Canadian flag may be a symbol of Canadian nationality, associated with pride and a unified nation, however it’s not against the law to disrespect, deface, and destroy it. As burning the flag is a mode by which an individual may destroy it, it follows that it is not illegal to destroy it. There exists no legislation where burning the flag is a criminal action, under the Canadian Criminal Code or any other statue. However there are official government rules on flag etiquette that state that the Canadian flag “should not be subjected to indignity,” but there are no laws against desecration, such as burning, shredding, stomping, or spitting on it. These official etiquette rules simply express the Canadian Governments sentiments regarding flag burning, but there is no corresponding legislation by which the government may enforce this sentiment. While some may find flag burning to be a disrespectful act, such acts are protected forms of expression under the Charter of Rights And Freedoms. Such laws, permitting forms of expression, are a reflection of the high value held for freedom of expression in Canadian society. As with all Charter rights, protected expression is subject to limits, as can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society,” but flag burning isn’t deemed to legally exceed these limits.

The curious thing is how the press loves the Democrats. Michael Hastings was the journalist exposing the surveillance state. Hastings wrote about the investigation of reporters by the U.S. Department of Justice back in 2013. He said that the restrictions on the freedom of the press by the Obama administration were a “war” on journalism. He wrote his last story before he died in what may have been a cyber attack. Someone was able to control his car remotely and drove it into a tree at top speed. His last story was entitled: “Why Democrats Love to Spy On Americans”, published by BuzzFeed on June 7, 2013. Any journalist who goes for the truth about the Deep States seems to end up dead.

We will keep this short and to the point. As time goes by, you will come to know all the ingredients to the fact that economic law lives and is in the process of reasserting itself like a hot solar storm on the surface of the sun.
MOPE has failed and the world is about to implode economically and socially because of it. Your question to all of us has been when will all this happen. The answer is now. The means to this occurrence is accelerating uncontrollable volatility in the world fiat currency markets. The rise in the dollar here and now is due to Richard Russell’s thesis of the synthetic dollar short. This can be easily understood by remembering that the currency you borrow will fluctuate. If that movement is up, then you are at a loss considering where it was trading when your borrowed it.
The Titanic Forces of Economic Sin in the Theory of Management of Perspective Economics (MOPE), which was identified by us only and no one else more than a decade ago, is the most ignorant concept. If markets could be controlled globally, the laws of economic could be cancelled and depressions, plus serious recessions, eliminated forever. They cannot be! You will witness this very soon.
The equity markets around the world have been celebrating the cancellation of economic law, the Austrian School of Economics and all the teachings of Ricardo and Smith, have been declared dead. The assent of the Devil of Artificial Intelligence operated by the most advanced computers has resulted in market manipulation so huge that there is no historical precedent for the volatility that the end of MOPE will produce.
The only way to win in the Game Theory computer manipulation of market of markets is don’t play. The economic insanity of the big players is now clearly behind the reduction of one of the major international financial houses of their trading department from 500 people to 1 person only. They simultaneously hired 9000 computer engineers to build the strongest computer system in order to own all the world of trading and manipulating markets. They are convinced they are right by their own creation, with the huge climb in equity prices regardless of the lack of true internal economic strength. They, therefore, in making the switch between traders and computer engineers confirm their view of MOPE and the Death of Monetary Science. They see their choice of manipulated stocks reaching into the 1000s that contribute nothing fundamental to the world systems such as social networks and movie purveyors. At the same time a major flagship (i.e. GE) of the internal US economy falls from the mid $40s to $12. General Electric is one of the real engines of US economics that now falls price wise therefore capital value wise.
Finally according to the laws of economics the US Fed, having extended its balance sheet insanely, has lost control of its internal and therefore external monetary policy. The run up now in the dollar because of the technical dollar short is the Death Knell of the fiat system. It is the product of a spreading panic in the non – reserve emerging market currencies. It is the currency of Turkey and Venezuela, Brazil and Argentina that have fallen hard and fast with Asia to follow that is the pending Weapon of Mass Economic Destruction. The only way to stop it is for the US Federal Reserve to go ballistic in global QE followed by all the developed world’s central banks in unison to provide the dollars demanded by the debt instruments of this unwind. You will witness the move to hyperinflation in the useless attempt to continue the ignorant game of MOPE and hold economies and fiat system together

Is there a case to be made for Trump actually restoring confidence in America and the Dollar, him being successful in getting our trading partners to buy stuff and not debt (balancing trade) and lowering costs of health care and bringing the federal deficit into balance? Over time of course, but on a trajectory that prevents mass exit from the dollar?

I agree with toolmaker that it is too late.
There is a rate of inflation that could make the debt payable but it would be so high that it would interfere with the underlying economy. For one thing our GDP includes a lot of those financial products that we are trying to depend upon less.

Back in the good old days < 2000ish, The Fed was (big WAS) in the habit of managing the whole curve via the FFR (by which they used to directly control $IRX). They'd tweak FFR, the short end would react …and the rest would fall into line. Some time around 2004 (as I recall) the Fed tried the old ratcheting of FFR to reverse $IRX …and nothing happened! Mr Market virtually gave the Fed the Bird….and the Fed quickly dropped FFR to compensate.
This was a Mega Game-changing moment that passed virtually unnoticed in the Mainstream (one of several over the last 12 Years I might add)…however it said (screamed) to me they (the Fed) had effectively lost control of their MAIN Systemic Management tool. Essentially, from that point onward we've been Zero-bound …without a Parachute. January 24, 2012 at 11:52

Toolmaker, I guess in my mind if trade and federal spending are credibly on their way to balance then I could see Trump negotiating the existing debt. If Trump could get everyone at the table and have them agree to play along that might be good enough to extend the timeline decades.

"Anybody else still watching $IRX?"
That's another smoke alarm that was disabled in 2013 when the Fed introduced the overnight reverse repo program (ON RRP), which took market pressure off the short end of the curve. It didn't fix anything, it only proved that OBA's theory was wrong all along. The Fed never was at the mercy of Mr. Market at the short end. It could prevent the $IRX from going negative anytime it wanted to. OBA's theory was that when the short end went negative, the $IMFS would implode. It was an interesting theory, but I never really bought into it. As you can see, IRX was right at the zero bound from about 2009-2015, and OBA was waiting for it to break below zero:

Canadians Need the Truth About Toronto’s Danforth Avenue Terrorist Attack
By Scott Newark | algemeiner.com | August 22, 2018
Wikipedia
It’s been more than four weeks since the murderous shooting attack on Toronto’s Danforth Avenue, a famous outdoor dining location that is also home to the city’s Greek community. Canadians were understandably horrified when they saw video images of 29-year-old Faisal Hussain casually walking down the street and opening fire on people who were doing nothing more than enjoying themselves on a Sunday evening. The shooting continued as Hussain crisscrossed the street, firing dozens of shots from a handgun, which he repeatedly reloaded.
Hussain killed 18-year-old Reese Fallon and 10-year-old Juliana Kozis, and wounded 13 other people, including a young woman who may be paralyzed for life. Toronto Police were quick to arrive on the scene and unconfirmed reports say that Faisal Hussain shot himself to death after an exchange of gunfire.
Unlike other attacks targeting crowded public areas, there was no immediate indication of why Hussain carried out his July 22 attack. He made no statements during the attacks, and apparently police have found no evidence that suggests a motive. This uncertainty has created understandable public concern.
Toronto Police identified Hussain as the shooter shortly after the attack, and said they were in the process of executing search warrants to examine his electronic devices for any insights into his motivation.
On the day after the mass shootings, Hussain’s Pakistani-born and Toronto-resident parents issued a professionally crafted media statement claiming that their son’s actions were due to a long history of “severe mental health challenges,” which Canadian medical practitioners were unsuccessful in treating. Media reports subsequently revealed that the Hussain’s family spokesperson was a self-described supporter of the National Council of Canadian Muslims.
Ontario law grants the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) control of all public communications regarding the incident, as they decide if the police acted appropriately. While independent police oversight is important, it seems clear that the police acted appropriately by trying to stop the killer, whose suicide was in no way a consequence of police misconduct. SIU oversight should not needlessly obstruct the public’s right to know the truth, especially in cases like this one.
Journalists have filled some of the void with details about Hussain, including his past detention under the Mental Health Act, his threats of violence as a student, and his older brother’s association with a street gang that was active in both the drug and illegal gun trade. Initial speculation suggested that he targeted women, like in the April van attack in Toronto by Alek Minassian that killed 10 people.
Not surprisingly, speculation also emerged that Hussain’s motivation was Islamist terrorism, which was reinforced by the nature of the attack that has unfortunately become a recurring reality in France, the UK, the EU, Canada, and the US. The Islamist motivation speculation was significantly strengthened days after the attack, when ISIS released a statement saying that Hussain “was a soldier of the Islamic State and carried out the attack in response to calls to target the citizens of the coalition countries.”
Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders said that police had uncovered no such links, but that the motive was still under investigation. He did not provide any information about what had been found on Hussain’s digital devices — and that remains the case today. News reports indicate that a fully armed Hussain sat outside the grocery store where he worked for six hours before walking to Danforth Avenue. It is not known why he chose Danforth Avenue.
But consider what we do know about a possible Islamist motivation:
The murderous random attack in a highly populated venue carried out by Faisal Hussain is a technique previously used by Islamists.
ISIS has engaged in an online campaign to encourage domestic attacks, such as the one Hussain carried out.
Hussain attended a mosque that reportedly preaches extremist interpretations of Islam.
ISIS has claimed Hussain was one of its “soldiers.”
Violent Islamist ideology has an undeniable history of motivating people with mental health issues to carry out terrorist attacks against citizens in Western countries.
Unconfirmed media reports also say that Hussain had been questioned by police and the Canadian Security and Intelligence Service (CSIS) about his Islamist connections, and had traveled to Pakistan and Afghanistan. The silence from police officials on this specific issue has been deafening.
Western societies have successfully deployed multiple strategies to prevent and respond to terrorism. Supporting public confidence in our public systems, including law enforcement, needs to be a component of that strategy and that includes not succumbing to political correctness or bureaucratic self-interest. The Toronto Police need to tell the public what it knows about Hussain’s murderous motivation. And if they can’t make a determination, they should say so. People can judge for themselves the credibility of what they are told; but, above all else, Canadians deserve to know the truth.

The ones in control of the goberments and media are afraid of smoke alarms.
I think they turn off the smoke alarm because they know there’s trouble brewing and they see people watching and commenting, which annoys them. In most cases, however, I think they truly believe that treating symptoms will somehow make the disease go away, like turning off the smoke alarm will somehow put out the fire. But we know better.
“… like turning off the smoke alarm will somehow put out the fire.”
Awesome analogy to expose the radical idiocy of Bill 103.
oh ya, that abomination.
tried a number of times to get the local LIEberal mp to expliquez s v p, WHY is islam mentioned TWICE in this document and NO OTHER RELIGION if it’s supposed to combat intolerance of ALL religions? hmmmm?
ya, typical, NO response.
Yes. And let us not forget that the attack by Minassen has also never been adequately explained. The incel narrative was a useful distraction, but the nature of the attack smacked of an Islamist attack, and that Minassen was NOT a Muslim has never been verified. I think there is a good possibility that he was under the influence of an Islamist cell. Happily for our manipulative and deceitful Liberal government, that particular attack has disappeared from media scrutiny.
Seems to me that Mohammed Hashim, the author of that “letter” has zero connection to the family whatsoever… and Mohammed Hashim is most likely an operative of the Musim Brotherhood.
Mental Illness MY (_i_), (wheres the proof of this illness..??), although it could be argued that Islam itself is a mental disease. This was without a doubt in my mind a classic ISLAMIC Terror attack perpetrated by one who had significant training in the use of a handgun.
The other aspect not talked about was his brother..?? You know, the guy with the 32 handguns and 42kg’s of a Carfenatil – a chemical 3-5000 times as potent as Fentanyl. Drug dealer…? yea as if. Carfentanil is considered a ‘Chemical Weapon” by the US military…his possession of that amount of said prouct is to me highly suggestive of a WMD attack.
It scares the shit outa me that we in this country are going down the same politically correct F’n rabbit hole as each and every Western hemisphere nation has when it comes to Dealing with Islam and its Mentally ill adherents.
As for Maxime…good on him – the only politician with the cojonnes to tell it like it is. As for Scheer…to hell with him. I’ve told their telephone solicitors that their Supply Mgmt and PC stance on migration is BS and I will not vote for them.
On another note: There are some, I believe 1+ million Muslims in this country. At no point in time have I seen or heard ANY condemnation of Terrorism or seen a Protest or any other thing to demonstrate to Canadians that these actions do not represent Islam – NEVER. (with the exeption of a few “leaders”), who as far as I am concernd are LEAD members in the MB…mouthing the usual BS platitudes about “religion of peace” etc.
To me that speaks volumes…. and one word sums it up……. Taqiyya
I’m Hoping MAX Starts his own party.

Which is socialism. It’s dangerously flawed and failed political idea, espoused from growing number on the political left in North America, that you don’t need to balance the books, that income redistribution can substitute for free enterprise.
It’s the idea, taken to an extreme, consistently leads to poverty and despair.

You’d never know it from listening to groups such as the David Suzuki Foundation and the Conference Board of Canada, but Canada’s story on air quality improvement over the last several decades is very positive. Over the last few decades, Canadians have witnessed a major cleanup of Canada’s air after a century of largely unconstrained pollution emissions.

I was a barefoot farmboy who occasionally went to Edmonton back in the 1960s. Approaching the city on a still summer day you noticed how it was domed in a haze. Once you entered the city you noticed an acrid odour that faded with time. The city is now several times as big and it appears to have none of that.
Perhaps the time has come to accept our current pollution levels or we will likely just export our pollution to China along with our jobs. We have eliminated 99% plus of pollution from vehicles. Tougher standards are oppressively expensive and sometimes bizzare (urea injection).
I believe Harper had a major environmental focus on dealing with air pollution. He was never given credit, just constantly chastised for trying to take a balanced approach to global warming.

Especially for our favourite troll, IDIOT UnMe, whose superior sneering, dismissive rejection of all concerns about islamic immigration echoes exactly what Bruce Bawer experienced as keynote speaker to the world’s equally idiotic diplomat class way back in 2007.
THEN: “ISLAMIC EUROPE? RIDICULOUS!” NOW: “ISLAMIC EUROPE? INEVITABLE – AND TERRIFIC!”
European elite changes its tune – to enable surrender.

Wow. Think Canadians will figure this out in time? The media will be the last to grasp the threat.
AGW FAIL.
Our anti-AGW campaign is WINNING.
Thank you to SDA for giving us the posting allowance to bring this to the forefront.
“The local paper reported the facts with no comment, no reaction, no rebuttal, no hysterics.
I believe is a significant milestone. The warming/climate/CO2 fraud has reached a tipping point.
Let it die. A return to reality is long overdue. We don’t control the weather. Climate changes, naturally. ”

“Loudoun County Planners: Climate Change will be “non-existent” in Five Years!
It appears the worm has turned for the fraudulent Climate Cult.
For the last twenty years, every government agency from the Pentagon to garbage districts seemed to slip “global warming” or “climate change” into any issue.
The Pentagon warned of the threat to national security posed by massive sea level rise driven by mankind spewing CO2 into the atmosphere.
Town planning boards gravely discussed the impact of “global warming” on local economies.
We may have reached a tipping point. Sanity is slipping into the equation.
In Northern Virginia, on August 9, 2018, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors and the Planning Commission met to discuss the county’s Comprehensive Plan.
The Plan lays out the vision for the county’s development, resources, priorities, spending, and overall governance for the next ten or twenty years.
A bureaucratic exercise, the Plan focuses on the long-term. Nothing exciting usually comes out of a Planning meeting. Some generic Politically Correct verbiage about “thinking globally, and acting locally” is common.
However, a local newspaper reported, at the County Commission meeting that night:
“[Kathy] Blackburn … led the charge to take out language in the plan calling to “update and implement the County Energy Strategy to reduce the impacts of climate change.” She argued the use of the phrase “climate change” is politically charged and “could be obsolete” before long. And in five years it could be nonexistent,” she said. Other commissioners agreed.””

David Frum; the neoconservative who penned the axis of exil speech by Dubya and was part of the cheerleading effort for the disastrous Iraq war and other overseas war machine expansions, is the go to guy for the CBC and anything anti-Trump. Same as Danny Williams , spit, was the go to guy on anything anti-Harper.
Strange bedfellows Indeed!!
I am disappointed in Frum. He has become an anti-Trump zealot and lost all perspective. Maybe he too is connected to the deep state. Certainly the Bushes are.
Frum is a policy wonk phuckhead who wouldn’t know the right end of a shovel if he had to dig a hole to save his life.
labeling george dubya as ‘deep state’ here @ sda when he was in office would NOT be well received.
now? funny thing . . . . . .
David Frum is a Communist and a drunk.
I have seen a few here complaining about the Captcha system, lately. My experience has been pretty much trouble-free up until a week ago… that has since changed.
Some threads will simply not even load Captcha, even after repeated tries, once over hours. Yet, other threads seem unaffected.
I am no longer offered the option to save my ID info.
Some posts I have tried to reply to had no REPLY option.
Just curious if others have been experiencing these problems, or is it strictly a connection prob on my end…. as the SDA pop-up keeps suggesting. (I am having no other problems loading any sites recently.) Thx.
It is a hit and miss thing it seems. Today its been quick and painless, an exception, for me.
AGW FAIL.

“America First Energy Conference – “an amazing day””
“The results are absolutely appalling, said Kathleen Hartnett White, when the poorest people in the world are forced to use costly solar and wind energy – and are deprived of inexpensive, efficient fossil fuels.
Carbon dioxide, Dr. Roy Spencer explained, is not the great threat that environmental extremists make it out to be; it is a miracle molecule that makes life possible on planet Earth.
“The conference underscored that President Trump is right to boost our nation’s fossil fuel output and help the USA and world rebound from the green energy disasters of recent years.”

how does the right do it? how do they reconcile the caustic response to any efforts or hints at increasing gun control for instance (see: NRA) as wrong headed bla bla bla, ‘not gonna work’ guns dont kill people people kill people (using lots of guns!). the usual zoo of arguments.
and, *at the same time* froth at the mouth at simultaneous changes in the pot laws, REMOVING it in part from the criminal code.
‘dangerous drug !!! no medical benefits !!!! (bla bla bla). and insisting it stay in all its forms and venues entrenched in the criminal code.
how is that?
in very general terms, whats more likely to kill someone, a bullet or a reefer?
why, why, why is the right decidedly in FAVOUR of keeping pot illegal, relying on laws that DON’T WORK, and exactly at the same moment OPPOSE the same strategy with guns?
could be the hard core right is a shill for the prison guard unionboy, looking for every way to keep the prisons jammed full aka zhob security.
how many different prescription drugs are there? I cant find a stat on that so Im gonna make a guess about all the heart meds, cancer drugs, pain killers, anitbiotics, sleep meds, at (very roughly) mebbe 5,000.
how many of them come from a lab? lots. how many come with justified warnings re side effects? lots.
but all of them are legal. drugs that really are dangerous, all legal !!!!
yet a substance that the neanderthals knew would give pain relief and a quick way to get the sleep they need, comes with a gasp!!! STIGMA.
wtf is that? man made ok, nature made ixnay? is that the only criterion?
I dont get it. HOW can the hard core conservative republican right wing be so *^^$&$#&^ opposed to loosening up the laws about pot and at the same time oppose tightening up gun laws?
which
one
causes
more
deaths?
pot DOES have significant medical benefit for SOME of us. same way prescription drugs have marked benefit for SOME of us. so why why why the goddam stigma?
WHY does the hard right demand that it be kept out of the hands and blood vessels and body cells of those who benefit, because some people use it strictly for recreational purposes? why the FCUK dont you do that with ANY of the OTHER 5000 (big + or – there) medicines? its a bloody molecule ya ‘tards !!! how many different of THOSE are there on the friggin planet?????? half a billion compounds and alloys etc? (that’s another pure guess) but, but ooooooh that terrible bad evil THC we just GOTS to lock em up !!!
yep yep yep.
I dont get it.
a form of hypocrisy at the very least.
time for my workout !!!!

Dear Gentleman Who Wouldn’t Tell Us His Name:
How are you feeling now? You were suffering with an awful case of Shingles, lately, this summer.
Mrs Ken Kulak as well, how is she doing?
Just Wonderin’
?
Nancy, the steady pain she was suffering has slowly dissipated somewhat over the summer and now comes and goes. As well, the scars on her back and side are slowly becoming less vivid.
Thank you for asking.
Ken, Good to hear.
Regards,
Nancy
Don’t know why my comment got deleted. This wasn’t the first time this happened, but I will remember this the next time Kate comes passing around the hat.
