  1. “. . . appoint a COO to rein him in . . . look at the fundamentals” That’s the whole point. Tesla is a technological Ponzi scheme. You can’t rein in a Ponzi scheme without bursting the bubble. And the ones selling the stock ARE looking at the fundamentals: and they’re terrible.

    1. Elon Musk started weeping during the interview-

“THERE IS NO CRYING IN BUSINESS.” “THERE.IS.NO.CRYING. IN.BUSINESS.”

He is crying Mr. Stock Holder and everyone knows, THERE IS NO CRYING IN BUSINESS.

Anyone that has stock in this company needs to start running, and screaming,
      SALE, S.A.L.E Sale.

  2. Poor product yields poor stock. Why was it even there on the stock market? Yes, money. “Money for nothing and your chicks for free.”

Accidents in Fort Lauderdale Florida and Mountain View California to name two, people killed due to explosions, fall out between Tesla and the National Safety Board, batteries reigniting after they ‘ve been extinguished and hauled away to battery jail…need I say more?

I rest my case, Your Honor.

    1. Ah, but he’s a tech whiz and, therefore, is incapable of error.

There are rumours that he’ll be taking money from SpaceX to take Tesla private.

      1. @1:03 am B A
Yes @ $420 / share, does he still own Spacex, the company that he started? Didn’t the article day this could be a violation of S.E.C. rules? He is saving face, buying time, perhaps?

The Ambien and recreational drugs*are not a good diversion. This is not a few brews on a Friday night. Why would a 47 year old dabble in that?

Nah, sounds like he’s going down.
*what kind of junk? Coke? Hash? Mon Dieu, mais non, Heroin?

        1. SpaceX is not about to go away any time soon. It has a full roster of launch contracts and will be busy for the foreseeable future. It’s given companies such as United Launch Alliance and Arianespace a run for their money because SpaceX has demonstrated that cheaper launches and recoverable boosters are possible.

Its greatest competition right now is Northrup Grumman Innovation Systems (formerly Orbital ATK) with Rocket Lab about to enter that market with regular flights. Then there are Virgin Orbital and Blue Origin. Once they start flying payloads, SpaceX might not be so bright and shiny any more.

That might change once they start flying crews to the ISS. SpaceX’s Dragon looks like its first flight will be next year, though I don’t recall when Boeing’s SpaceLiner will go up. My personal preference is for Sierra Nevada’s Dream Chaser, but that project was hampered when it lost the competition for NASA funding, the money going to SpaceX and Boeing.

Meanwhile, Musk is obsessed with going to Mars and is pushing for the development of his BFR (euphemistically referred to as the Big Falcon Rocket).

        2. Why would he tell the world he IS doing drugs?

At least the drug dealer is getting rich, taking care of the billionaire white man.

  3. That the stock has not already gone to zero, and Elon is not facing a long prison term followed by deportation to communist South Africa with nothing but the clothes on his back, is proof there is no justice in this world.

Now he’s blaming speculators for the woes of his company’s stock. Maybe back home his Zulu brothers will swallow that garbage.

Meanwhile the entrepreneurs of Startup Nation, who are sick of the likes of Elon giving high technology a bad name and frittering away venture capital that could have funded real innovation, will be relieved to see Tesla gone. If a practical electric car is ever invented, the Israelis will get the job done.

  4. Musk is going down. And Musk is not going to white-collar resort prison. No, no, no. He’s going to federal POUND HIM IN THE ASS prison.

    1. I’ll cut a prediction. Musk will be dead before he hits 50, self-inflicted or otherwise.

  5. anyone who still owns Tesla stock is not too bright. This company is going down sell now while you still can

  6. And yet, Tesla still has many, many believers. Musk may go (it’s “pile on Musk” time for news media) ….. or not, but either way Tesla will continue. Electric cars are not going away. And that includes Tesla. You heard it here.

    1. “Tesla will continue”

It is deeply indebted, cash flow negative as far as the eyes can see, and margin negative on its flagship product in spite of large subsidies. The ceo is unhinged, and probably committed a serious crime. My bet would go the other way.

    2. “Electric cars are not going away”

Perhaps. Perhaps not. So far, they have been money losers for every model that has been offered for sale, in spite of generous subsidies. To the buyer, they do not provide a lower cost means of transportation with full cycle, all costs considered in spite of generous subsidies, and in spite of the fact that the gasoline powered alternative has much higher taxes applied to its energy.

  7. The religious fanatics here, are funny. People been trying for the practical electric car since 1832.

I think Trudeau will get pipelines built before someone builds a “practical” electric car. Just saying.

  8. Last year, Tesla had a display in the shopping centre right next to where I live. Although the cars looked impressive, I wasn’t entirely convinced that it would be suitable for me.

I spoke to one of the reps and the young lady was a wild-eyed enthusiast. She was most indignant when I brought up the issue of the batteries, giving me little more than a pre-recorded press-release-style response.

Then again, that’s the demographic that Musk prefers to hire: young and inexperienced, easily duped and manipulated.

    1. “young and inexperienced, easily duped and manipulated”
..and no clue about basic science and math and its application in moving shit around.
      power= watts/time

    2. @9:45 B A
Interesting post about SpaceX @ 9:33 am. I would have motion illness going to space. I wish them luck.

About the Tesla or any other electric car. Not anything for me either for reasons of aforesaid safety reasons, at least at present. Troubling issues may some day be resolved. I wouldn’t have it in me to be, as you say, a “wild-eyed electric car enthusiast.”

I just like a car that is gasoline powered, plain and simply proven reliable, through time. I once was asked to drive a Porche 944 Turbo S in 1988 or thereabouts. It was a favour for a friend to transport this car because I’m able to handle a 5 speed manual transmission. Holy cow, what a privilege to be behind the wheel of a $80,000 car! I was nervous at first but once I got it on the highway I stepped on it and had it up to 140 km / hr in no time. I was in shock at how fast this happened. I was in shock that I was breaking the law speeding like that! What a thrill!

      1. 140 KPH excites you Nancy, I’ll hide the keys to my PU truck, as clears 200 KPH in a flash. Butt it is a slide box, so you probably wouldn’t want to drive it:-)))

        1. @ 6:50 ” N ”

I wouldn’t reach anything, probably. I’ve gone to 160 before. So… hmm, but don’t worry, your keys are safe! Heh, heh!

  9. first you shoot your mouth off and the stock spikes.
(then you sell sell sell !!!)
then you shoot your mouth off again in a scene from some chick flick thingy and the stock drops

    right so far?
    gee. Im gonna start up a revolutionary factory churning out . . . . churning out . . . . . . . . . . .

p.s., AGAIN, wtf happened to the little check box called ‘remember my ID info’ ?????

  10. Basic physics are at play here. Electric cars will never make sense. Ever.
