We Don’t Need No Flaming Giant Fans

 Oops

In CBC’s report earlier this week, workers at the Henvey Inlet wind farm site said they were under such intense deadline pressure to clear the land to make way for turbines that crews continued to blast rock despite extreme fire hazard conditions.

They said they managed to douse several fires sparked by the ongoing construction. But when the Argo got stuck in the bush late in the afternoon on July 18, flames spread and quickly got out of control, the workers said.

  1. Instead of ‘Making them pay’ which is laughable they all the Ontario tax payers money anyways. How about shutting down the windfarm and taking all the money back

    1. Why not just decline to buy their product unless they guarantee absolute reliability as to delivery of same?

  2. The wind farm is owned by Pattern Energy and the Henvey Inlet Band. The same Pattern Energy as owns the Ocitillo project in Cali, the one in the YouTube post from a few days ago.

Same attitude as mentioned in the other videos in the channel, and several reports by landowner groups about the behaviour of the company.

  3. So “It’s become necessary to destroy the environment in order to save it.”

  4. Seems ironic that in saving all that CO2 emissions by switching to wind energy we end up with a giant CO2-emitting fire.

A friend of mine who is currently fighting that fire was saying they can’t put the fire out so they put portable (gas powered) spray pumps around the expensive homes and boating yards and pump the water from the lake. As the fire gets close the water spray heats up and creates a protective cloud of mist over the homes and the fire goes around leaving the homes intact. This is all done with helicopters.

When you think of all the Jet-A fuel needed to put that fire out you’re reminded of the idiocy of global warming and why we even need wind farms. As we introduce more infrastructure into the wilderness, we’re going to need more helicopters and more jet fuel.

  5. And the more immigrants that we import, the more energy needed and junk produced. Even CBC Suzuki says Canada is full (you see, all the new folks in BC affects his commute and the homeless people near his home are annoying).

    1. Suzuki has at least a couple of surplus homes he can share with the homeless. Problem solved.

  6. It’s not enough that these 19th century contraptions are despoiling the landscape … but we must also BLOW UP the landscape and burn it to the ground … to support this subsidized slash and burn energy source? Where the HELL are the “First Peoples” protesting this violation of Mother turtle earth?

  7. Am I right to suspect that the need for speed, working on through forest fire extreme risk conditions, might have something to do with get these up and running before the subsidy gets pulled?
As in must be operational by date xxx or no subsidy no more.

  8. Well, wind power gets to kill bald eagles, golden eagles, condors, … why not a pass on arson too?

  9. Just a second. This would be like building wind farms with environmental reviews waived (because it’s the “right” thing to do, as opposed to “wrong” pipelines).

    That never happened, right? Right?

  10. no no no no. it’s WYNNEDfarm. wyynedfarm still.
in another time, far far away, ms wynnedfarm would now be hanging from one of these contraptions all tarred and feathered with a sign around her broken neck claiming ding dong the witch is dead.
