The reason I post this is to ask readers how many have asked their cable provider to delete CNN from their cable package? I haven’t as yet, but here in Canada we are supposed to have Pick and Pay channel selection. The trouble is is that my Rogers cable bundles the news channels.
I also am thinking of deleting the awful CTV News channel. This morning (Saturday, June 16, 2018), there was nothing on at 6 am, so — since I am interested in the Toronto shootings of the two little girls — I thought I would watch the half-hour news on the CTV news channel. (I hadn’t watched anything on this channel for months). All I got was story after story of anti-Trump propaganda. Nothing on the shootings of the little girls — a compelling story that is riveting Canadians.
This is the crux of the problem: conservatives must start delisting the left-wing channels. The same goes for the atrocious Comedy Central channel. So far there is no organized movement to encourage conservatives to delist left-wing channels.
“but here in Canada we are supposed to have Pick and Pay channel selection.”
Hasn’t happened yet. That’s the reason the CRTC didn’t put Sun News on cable packages and Harper was clueless about how much the fake media hated him.
” must start delisting the left- wing channels”
The Government would have to dismantle the C.R.T.C. first, if you’re going to see any changes here in Canada.
It. Will. Never. Happen.
Well, that’s because there are no Conservatives left in Canaduh. ‘Cept you maybe. I tried your suggestion a few years ago when Shaw used to be my cable supplier. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! was their answer. Telus isn’t any better. Sovietesque, eh?
This is a fascist state, has been for a while, it’s just not rubbed in your face too much…..yet. The green stuff is & the recent SCOC case on beer & now Trinity, it’s coming closer. Our “conservatives” such as Scheer & supposedly Kenny, aren’t. “A trickle of Canadian oil-drilling rigs heading south of the border this year has turned into a steady stream – a movement of equipment the energy industry says it hasn’t seen in decades.
The United States’ booming oil plays are a potent enticement as Canada’s energy sector struggles to regain the activity and investment it had before the oil-price crash four years ago.
And U.S. President Donald Trump’s full-on embrace of U.S. energy independence and his administration’s loosening of environmental rules has been a shot in the arm for his country’s oil and gas industry.
The opportunity for more work, along with the partial or full payment of moving costs, are driving Canadian companies south. At least half a dozen Alberta drilling firms are sending some of their most powerful and newest technology rigs – and sometimes crews – to the United States.”

That’s because of all the extra regulations and requirements piled on it.

“Pence on Korean War Fallen: ‘We Are Finally Going to Bring Our Boys Home’
President Donald Trump persuaded North Korea’s government to return the remains of 5,000 Americans who were killed in the Korean War, Vice President Mike Pence said Thursday.
“The President arrived home … from a historic summit with the leader of North Korea,” Pence said in his keynote speech to the National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC. He continued:
While it hasn’t gotten as much note, it’s deeply meaningful to me, as the son of a combat veteran of the Korean War, that President Trump also secured a commitment from North Korea to recover and repatriate the remains of more than 5,000 American POWs and MIAs that fell in the Korean War.
“We are finally going to bring our boys home,” the vice president said.”

“Surviving members of the badly outnumbered men of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry also recall the horror of the human carnage as they stopped the massive communist invasion force from overrunning the Kapyong Valley and — in the view of many historians — ultimately capturing Seoul, the present-day capital of South Korea.”
“Last year, at a ceremony honouring Korean War veterans, Prime Minister Stephen Harper described how “for 24 hours, there was intense hand-to-hand fighting and unimaginable bravery” shown by Canadian troops facing “human waves” of hundreds of enemy soldiers.
“But when the smoke cleared, the Canadians held and the communist invasion would go no further,” he said.”
Korea – the first limited war. The US decided not to win even before booting out McArthur. They decided that a sustained loss of 1 or 2 thousand men a month was tolerable. War changed from fighting to win and going home to fighting for time. Instead of winning, wars now drag our for 10 or 20 years without ever having a conclusion. Afghanistan has had a war going for 40 years. Many of the players have changed but it’s still the same war. No-one will beat the religious fanatics until there are enough bodies on the ground. The Russian experiment found out that 2 million dead Taliban wasn’t enough.
FBI Agent 13: “Damn it.” No, Obama didn’t do it, consumers did, renewed by Trump confidence.
“Armed with new-found proceeds from the tax bill, American consumers went shopping in May, driving retail sales — and economic growth — sharply higher.”
The economy in the second quarter is tracking close to 4 percent growth — a level President Donald Trump raved about last December, just before the tax bill was approved. At the same time, he had also told reporters he was holding out for a doubling of growth to 6 percent.”
For now, his 4 percent forecast is close to coming true on a quarterly basis, after strong retail sales data pushed up tracking GDP growth for the second quarter to about double the first quarter’s level.”
“Net, net, consumers are back in a big way and provide the rocket fuel that is powering the stronger 3 percent growth we are forecasting this quarter,” wrote Chris Rupkey, chief financial economist at MUFG Union Bank. “This is exactly what we should expect to see when the economy is giving everyone a job and workers have their pockets stuffed with massive tax cuts cash.”
Jobless claims also surprised economists Thursday morning, falling 4,000 to a near 44½-year low of 218,000, signaling an economy at full employment.”
“The economy in the second quarter is tracking close to 4 percent growth”
Time is needed to see if this is statistical noise. Up to now, no change in trend. Further, demand does not drive real economic growth only investment does.
UnMedicated, two things.
First, those tax cuts are also being invested, by those who hope to fill that demand.
Second, how do you manage to completely abandon every statetheist belief to only mildly question Trump, even though it will show you to be a massive hypocrite when you then advocate for government spending programs to stimulate the demand and drive the economy.
The corporate tax cut (and cutting SALT and mortgage deduction) are good. The US corporate tax rate was outrageous and is still kinda high. But that’s not enough. Ongoing weak dollar policy and terrible trade policy make the case for investing in the US a weak one. Oh and there’s the fact that US deficit and total spending is again through the roof.
“Second, how do you manage to completely abandon every statetheist belief to only mildly question Trump, even though it will show you to be a massive hypocrite when you then advocate for government spending programs to stimulate the demand and drive the economy.”
Last Thursday I went to a presentation by former Prime Minister Stephen Harper on a timely subject , International trade . The evening began with the now apperantly mandatory jabs at Trump by the moderator with mildly enthusiastic support . Frankly , I thought I am sick of this and I think this will be a disappointing evening . When Mr. Harper took the stage after some mild self depreciating humor , he cut to the heart of the matter . I cannot hope to convey everything , but I will try to pass on some of the main points he conveyed .
1. The phenomena of Trump is not change but an explainable disruption taking place in many countries in the world ( Brexit , France , Italy , likley coming in Mexico Ect.
2. It goes to both sides of the political spectrum.
3. Trump is right on trade . ( As well he listed nearly every other policy he is persuing such as immigration , moving the embassy in Isreal , Iran. )
4.He thinks it was a mistake for the U.S. To withdraw from trans Pacific trade agreement.
5. The carbon tax is nothing but A tax grab with no environmental benefits .
6. Trade relationships must be made through personal relationships and not the msm , which he called a dying industry using sensationalism and conflict in an effort to survive , and yes he called it fake news .
7. He would not directly blame Trudeau for the current trade mess but did pose this question. During the primaries and election Trump consistently said he was going to insist on better trade deals . His main targets were China and Mexico , with Canada barley mentioned . How did we become the number one target? ( At least as of Thursday )
8. Kinder Morgan will not be built .
Of course there was much more to this than I am conveying, with sound reasoning behind each of the positions . He feels Andrew Sheer will be able to win the next election on the carbon tax alone. Sorry , but I am very doubtful . The Liberals are receiving a ground swell of support from their position on this trade dispute . There has never been doubt in my mind this is the base of their election strategy. It was however a refreshing perspective after being indicated with constant negativity . And I didn’t her an um nor ahh all evening . Didn’t get a look at the socks , but he did say he never expected to become a fashion leader !
That would have been wonderfully interesting. I am always interested in Harper’s take on things. I feel we would be in a much more stable position if he were still at the helm. He is right about the disruption happening everywhere. It is the globalists vs. anyone who wants to preserve their country. Unfortunately, in electing Trudeau, Canadians have opted to side with the globalists. Although the specter of KM not being build has been raised elsewhere, that Harper thinks this is true gives me great concern. Our economy is headed down the toilet, and the Liberals are the ones doing the flushing. Something must be done soon to change this narrative. We are not getting investments, we have a manufacturing problem in Ontario, a “can’t get the oil to market” problem in Alberta, and we are being overtaxed with things like the Carbon Tax coming in. What will be a source of sustainable wealth for us? I can see nothing on the horizon, and the government is heading in all the wrong directions on many, many issues. Spending is out of control. Government spending has taken a leap towards goofiness with spending on things like assessing gender impact, and also their perpetual giving to special interest groups. (I just read a report from Heritage Canada which earmarks all these social-engineering/do-gooder projects which are costly and seldom well thought out.) Chretien Liberals did exactly the same and it was a complete mess. Conservatives cleaned some of it up, by getting rid of funding for some of the Liberal hanger-on groups, but here we are again.
” It is the globalists vs. anyone who wants to preserve their country.” Some people are finally waking up to what the Frankfurt School globalists have in store for them.
As far as KM not being built. This will be part of the effort to shut down the resource sector of the Canadian economy and eventually deindustrialize Canada as per Maurice Strong’s dream. The effort to make energy unafordable through taxation and thus reduce our standard of living is also part of the same long range plan.
A sampling of comments on another blog:
Spectacularly stupid for us to blame this mess on Trump. It’s entirely our fault.
One of the reasons I eventually came to despise Harper and the Harper “Conservative” MPs was their complete refusal to actually implement conservative policies. They could have killed supply management and the CBC on their first day in office and stared down the lefties and the PQ farming lobby. Spineless and stupid and the current crop seem just as bad.
Can anyone imagine Scheer being able to deal with this were he to be PM? I can’t.
How about this:
Indeed. Talk about him squandering the majority that the electorate gave him, what a waste that was. The liberals/ndp/green would have no problem implementing their policies at the speed of light, but when it comes to our side, we just bury our heads in the sand with our asses exposed and hope for the best.
Scheer can kiss my ass. He is nothing more than a liberal in conservative blue.
Comments from Blazing Catfur – “Poll: Ticked at Trump, Canadians Say They’ll Avoid US Goods”
Fake poll in my opinion. The only folks stupid enough to do this are .gov employees…they hate everybody else in this country, who isn’t a .gov employee, or non union. They say this then head for Bellingham, Plattsburg or Buffalo.
” It’s entirely our fault.”
It’s our fault Trump is picking a trade war with China, the UK, the EU, etc?
UnMe – do you not understand that China sells 4 times the amount to the U.S. While at the same time extremely limiting access to their markets ? It ‘s a rhetorical question for the fact man.
I think you cannot really move too far ftommwhere the people are. In the last election, there were is an signs “I support the CBC”. There was a huge stink raised when Harper axed the long form Census. Now most Canadians do not use this, but the left used it to paint Harper as an evil villain. People bought that. Same with defunding Karios and a couple of of other things. Actually leftists pounced on many things thst Harper did. It was completely irrational. Harper’s approach was to tread carefully and move slowly. I do not think you can just cut things that people value. Personally, I think the CBC stinks, but to too many Canadians it is a sacred cow. Slowly reducing its size was the way to go.
You drincking aga n?
You know how we became the number one target? I bet Trudeau completely schooled Drumpf on the TRQ system. The Americans have import quotas exactly like Canada! Except their dairy farms are heavily subsidized so their exports are as well. I bet this made Trump livid when he realized he was completely wrong. That explains his complete over reaction to Trudeaus media conference after G7.
If anyone has a better thought as to why speak up.
No, I think Trump did all this because he discovered you are a giant douchetroll.
As crazy as that is, still a better thought than any you have posted.
How about when you are in the midst of delicate negotiations, you don’t sabotage them by blabbing details to the press to try and look important. Signals to the other side that they can not be candid with you, and that everything is going to be political so you say fuck off and walk away from the table.
When Trump was still in the primaries I predicted two things.#1 was that Trump would become POTUS and #2 was that he would remember all the vile things Trudeau said about him. On the other hand the Conservative leader at the time simply said “hes not someone we would welcome in our party”. Trump has a long memory and he is sticking it to Trudeau now.
Easy, Trump did that because you promised to swallow and instead spit it in the corner. What?Don’t tell it is any less plausible than your drivel .
Well done, Molly, who shatters the false narrative of “no bias” at the FBI, that the IG says there wasn’t.
Wanna bet? Here’s my favourite part in an excellent article:
“On page 420, the IG says that the conduct of five FBI employees who were caught talking about their extreme political bias in the context of their duties “has brought discredit to themselves, sowed doubt about the FBI’s handling of the Midyear investigation, and impacted the reputation of the FBI.” The Midyear investigation was the code for the Clinton probe. Or note this blistering passage:”
“[W]hen one senior FBI official, [Peter] Strzok, who was helping to lead the Russia investigation at the time, conveys in a text message to another senior FBI official, [Lisa] Page, that ‘we’ll stop’ candidate Trump from being elected—after other extensive text messages between the two disparaging candidate Trump—it is not only indicative of a biased state of mind but, even more seriously, implies a willingness to take official action to impact the presidential candidate’s electoral prospects. This is antithetical to the core values of the FBI and the Department of Justice.”
The report goes on to say that the text messages and Strzok’s decision to prioritize the counterintelligence probe of the Trump campaign over the Clinton email criminal investigation “led us to conclude that we did not have confidence that Strzok’s decision was free from bias.”
Death by a thousand political cuts succeeding while Mueller fails at same.
The piece essentially describes the quid pro quo, as established. The farmers have been ghettoized and all get the same price for their milk. Meanwhile this makes it difficult to sell their farm because the cost would be astronomically expensive / cost prohibitive unless the buyer were a multi- national conglomerate. Essentially the farm would be rendered unsalable. (Their combined quota values are in the billions as per William Watson, former professor of Economics @ McGill.)
The cows get artificially inseminated, no need of those testosterone – fuelled bulls. That, in and of itself is a side business. The bull sperm extraction, the supplies such as gloves, test tubes etc. Then there are the Agricultural courses etc. This is big business.
The farmer and his wife, or significant other get a full Government of Canada pension. You can bet Quebec won’t separate from Canada.

Here is a really disturbing article about what is involved in the Tommy Robinson case — it is not only about his mistreatment and the deliberate strategy to shut him up, but about the complicity of the British government in covering up the gang rapes that are absolutely gruesome and that have involved large numbers of immigrants. The article is truly shocking and it is hard to argue with its logic: https://www.theobjectivestandard.com/2018/06/tommy-robinsons-right-to-free-speech-morally-trumps-all-laws-that-violate-it-even-that-one/
People need to take a stand against this injustice, and if we do not, we are no better than Nazi Germany. I think Trudeau needs to speak out on this, but of course he will not.
Current USA TRQ. They allocate quota for each product to be imported duty free and after the quota is reached the tariff kicks in. Guess what? Canadian dairy works exactly the same!
Trump is a hypocrite!
Canadian dairy is actually worse because there’s very little quota IIRC. To be fair, Canadian dairy receives very little direct subsidy. Nonetheless Trump is as usual totally hypocritical. For one thing the US sugar business is a cartel racket with lots of tariffs.
Theres enough quota that the us exported 636 million last year all tariff free and enjoy a huge dairy trade surplus with canada.
If anyone is getting the shaft its US taxpayers and Canadian dairy farmers.
Don’t have a cow man, seriously, paying for the right to milk it will cost you about 25k.
The ones getting shafted are Canadian consumers, and those in the dairy products and related industries that have to use milk as an input.
The extra money paid to dairy farmers beyond what a fair market price for milk would be is valued at at least $ 25,000 per cow. That also has an impact on every company that makes cheese or ice cream, as well as every company that makes products using those items. We have some excellent cheese makers in this country, but they can’t export, because they are forced to grossly overpay for their raw ingredients. Bet we could easily find some old hippies in Canada that could make a great ice cream and be successful, if only they were not squeezed out of the business by the cost of buying from the dairy oligarchy. This phenomenon was even acknowledged by the government when they made cheese import exemptions for manufacturers of some frozen foods so that they could be competitive.
Oh, one last thing, arguing that the US has a dairy trade surplus with Canada… of course they do, our system is based around preventing any surplus product (or even sufficient product to support the market). There is no fucking surplus in Canada we could trade.
That’s true. Canadian consumers get shafted too.
There is no “subsidy” because the Cartel fixes the price to the consumer, with the complicit endorsement of .gov. You pay the “subsidy” at the cash register. If you don’t want to pay that “subsidy” you don’t have to buy their products. You head to Buffalo, Bellingham, Plattsburg or some place in Maine. The rest of us not close to the US border get screwed on dairy, eggs, chicken & pork.
If you are exercised about US sugar, we have a similar cartel here. It’s called Rogers Sugar, or more familiarly Lantic Sugar. Same principles apply to US sugar. Maple syrup is a cartel, too. I would not want to be a maple sugar producer in Quebec. You don’t have the liberty of selling outside your “market” or for any other price. Your “market” is the cartel. Similar practices as to what the Canadian Wheat Board were. You sell to the cartel at their prices & then wait for payout. Wait, wait, wait.
Canada…10 little Soviets & assorted hangers on.
6 of one half a dozen of the other. How is the US system so much better? At least our prices are up front and not hidden in the taxes you pay.
I would argue their system is more socialist than ours. I would also argue their dairy system is similar to Chinese steel. Heavily subsidized so they can undercut everyone. They also ignore market prices and keep expanding production.
Canada’s system is worse. We have much worse choice and quality.
One of the reasons I eventually came to despise Harper and the Harper “Conservative” MPs was their well its complete refusal to actually implement conservative policies.Ya well its certainly better now under Trudeau. Ya get what ya vote for.

So the court challenge regarding summer grants program is sure to fail.
The court says it’s reasonable to not allow a school to have a law program if they support traditional marriage.
Surely they will say it is reasonable to withhold government grant money from organizations that aren’t pro abortion.

Here’s a link highlighting the fact that the left-wing CNN News made up a story about U.S. immigration officials tearing a breastfeeding baby from its mother:
https://downtrend.com/71superb/what-cnn-lied-about-border-agents-ripping-breastfeeding-baby-away-from-mom/

The against-all-odds victory by Canadians in the 1951 Korean War battle of Kapyong rivals those at Vimy Ridge and Juno Beach, filmmaker says”

Not seeing a ton of evidence of that: https://fred.stlouisfed.org/tags/series?t=investment
Play with the graphs. There’s a weak uptick that precedes the tax cuts.

More on Canadian tariffs on John Batchelor’s show:
https://audioboom.com/posts/6899274.mp3
