  1. The last few days may mark a sea change in the Ontario election. The Dippers have passed the Grits in the last few days of polling. The latest Forum poll shows the NDP with 33% and the Liberals with 22%.

Of course, these are only polls, and we know just how awfully wrong they can be. Forum’s numbers in particular seem to show an NDP bias. But the trend shows up in other polls, too.

But if Ontarians are truly tired of the worn-out Liberal machine, you may see the hollowing-out-the-center effect that propelled Jack Layton to federal Leader of the Opposition, propel Andrea Horwath to the same position in Ontario.

    1. can you imagine Ontario being screwed over by the n d p once again. man people are stupid, socialists in particular.

      1. Some of the greatest dummies in the solar system populate Ontariowe. If the NDP win with a majority its gonna get reamed, with sand, into bankruptcy quick, fast and in a hurry. Their spending spree is estimated to be at least 4 billion more than witch wynne’s crew of criminals.

      2. This causes me nightmares. Toronto is full of people who know nothing of the last NDP government

    2. Media progressives have abandoned poor Whinney and are now promoting the Dippers with each story/clip. I hope Ford has a strong ground game as he will need it.

The down side is that if Ford wins his record until the federal campaign will be used against the CPC. I guess as a westerner it likely makes little dif as the east under any government screws us.

  2. Not much of a hockey fan, though I was happy when the Kings won a couple of Stanley Cups. But I always thought it is only right for a Canadian team to bring that cup back to Canada. Good luck to the Jets.

    1. The last time a Canadian team won the Stanley Cup when the Liberals were in power John Turner was Prime Minister. Think about that. In the last 35 years Canadian teams have only done well when the Conservatives are in government.

      1. I beg to differ. The Montreal Canadians won the Cup 25 years ago, in 1993, and Brian Mulroney was PM.

I do like to cheer for Canadian teams but I particularly like the Jets, my being ex RCAF is a pure coincidence. They play the game smartly – north/south move the puck up smartly, and work hard.

Las Vegas plays a similar game, so it should be a great series; no matter who wins, Tampa or Washington will have their hands full, especially with Jets bomber Bfyuglien barreling in and bowling for Knights.

As impressed as I am with the Vegas story, my heart is now for the Jets.

Btw Subban is an excellent defenseman, but he sometimes lets his emotions get ahead of his play and can do less with the hot dog displays too. He will be a Team Canada perennial imho.

  3. ..and Mr. Subban, the darling of the CBC elite lost.
Nothing against his hockey skills but does he ever say anything that’s not politically correct?

    1. Well, either he is the worst skater in the NHL, or he gets away with diving a lot without being called on it.
Would love to see the refs watch him go down and just hold up score cards.

“Senator Eyes Canada Oil Tax After Alaska Drilling Clash

Canadian officials lobbied against allowing drilling in ANWR
Senator says opposition prompted him to seek end of tax break”

“As Alaska’s congressional delegation worked feverishly last year to achieve the decades-long dream of drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, they came across a formidable opponent: Canada.

The Canadian government was concerned about the pristine wilderness on the country’s Porcupine caribou herd, named for the river that spans its range into Alaska.

So its embassy in Washington lobbied U.S. lawmakers to vote against the Republican bid to add a refuge-drilling measure to the tax-cut package.

They lost the gamble. The tax cuts passed and drilling is set to resume after a 40-year hiatus.”

    1. I understand the Senator’s feelings. I’d like to ask him how he feels about American interests paying for Canadian opposition to development of Canadian oil exports.

“Remember that thug who hit Sheila Gunn Reid in the face? We finally beat him in court

We finally got him, that thug who hit our reporter Sheila Gunn Reid in the face at the Women’s March last year.

His name is Dion Bews. We sued him for assault and battery. And this week, we won. The judge was scathing in his comments. But first, a reminder:

In January, 2017 our Alberta bureau chief, Sheila Gunn Reid, reported on the Women’s March at the Alberta Legislature in Edmonton.

And when this male feminist, an NDP activist with a lip ring, saw Sheila, swore at her, said he was going to hit her, and then he did.

We offered a $1,000 reward for anyone who could identify him, and by the way, it was his “friends” who gave him up. We gave that info to the police, who charged him. And he was convicted.

But Sheila wasn’t informed of that court date, so she wasn’t allowed to testify or give a victim’s impact statement, which is her legal right. So that shocking video of Dion Bews threatening her and punching her was never shown to the judge.”

“Then the judge did something very unusual:

He awarded Sheila another $2,500 for punitive damages.

But the judge had one more thing to say, about Sheila as a journalist. You’d think other media would say this, or journalistic organizations, or women’s organizations. But they won’t.

“The fundamental freedom of the media as provided for in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees that the media shall have the freedom to report and provide opinion with respect to such public events as the 2017 Women’s March. To seek to curtail the media’s right to report and opine on the event, such as the Defendant Bews did here, was unacceptable…”

So, has any journalism organization or anyone in the Media Party condemned Bews now? What do you think?”

What kind of Kangaroo courts do you have? You don’t inform the victim of the court proceedings? What’s next? You won’t inform the accused either? Just have a nice little Star Chamber, find the accused guilty and send the police out to arrest him and toss him into prison? Just think of the increased efficiency when you don’t have to deal with those icky and tricky rights of the accused and rights to due process!

  6. Some residents of Fort McMurray are calling for a boycott of Alberta singer Jann Arden’s upcoming concert after an “insensitive” tweet about the oilsands.

In the 2016 post, Arden calls Alberta’s oilsands “the tar sands” while condemning the province’s cull of wild horses, saying, “I’ll tell ya what’s damaging the Alberta Environment — the tar sands — NOT the free roaming #wildies #saynotothehorsecull.”

    1. WhatsUpWithThat has it right about so many prominent environmentalists. We will really find out how much of scumbags they really are if they ever get the power to jail people who do not agree with them. Ideologically they have replaced the Soviet scumbags.
