    1. The Chinese may decide to play identity politics, too.

The history of China is the history of warfare. Think of Go on 4 dimensions.

Take on people of the Middle-Kingdom and learn the lessons of Sifu Sun Tzu, the hard way.

Yin and Yang, is learning how to navigate the border between order and chaos.

Chaos in the GTA is said to be expanding, where it is able to do so.

    2. In this case, I thought the black guys had a fair case. They were treated differently from other patrons, and the explanation was rather flimsy.

      1. My corner convenience store Chinese owners also treat me differently. I show up at 11pm to buy carton of cigarettes, forgot my wallet. No worries pay me later. They know me for years and make a judgement call. When did the ability to treat people differently become a crime in business?

        1. When it signals racial discrimination. Come on. I am not a fan of HRC’s , but I am also not a fan of deliberate discrimination based on race. I don’t think most of us are. There needed to be some other reason for singling out those men, and apparently, there was not.

          1. “His mere presence as a black man in a restaurant was presumed to be sufficient evidence of his presumed propensity to engage in criminal behaviour.”

Annnnd that is that. American blacks (afro-americans) have made their own stereotype. Has it spilled over into Canada?? Must have. Of course, like all stereotypes, it is not even 50% true but “propensity” causes doubt and doubt causes caution.

In the end, the man and his friends got their food for free and, at least implicitly, an apology. A year later he decides it is not enough. I would have had more sympathy if he had acted immediately.

          2. First and foremost, freedom of association is a right. Not being discriminated against by a private establishment is not a right nor it should ever be a right.

Second, if the restaurant committed a crime then the alleged victim can take them to court. Instead the alleged victim decided that they will bypass the legal process and go straight to a witch trail with a forgone conclusion. We don’t know if there was a reason for restaurant’s behavior because there was never an impartial investigation conducted to the matter. One does not have a right to due process when dragged in front those kangaroo courts.

  1. Push by Turkey for the EU to criminalize criticism of Islam:
“Turkey for years was a moderate Middle East nation, with both Western leanings and aspirations. It’s in NATO, along with the United States. But in the last few years, it’s taken a sharp turn toward full-blown Islamic Shariah law and persecution of non-Muslims. It just got worse, with a statement from a high government official that it wants all governments across Europe to criminalize ‘Islamophobia,’ which would include any negative comment about the religion.”

    …-

“The numbers are in and, baby, it was cold this winter

A cold snap that started in February and continued through March made for a long and chilly winter”

“Overall across the Prairies, March was much colder than average, with near- to above-average amounts of precipitation. Looking back at the different forecasts it looks like none of them were correct. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Canadian Farmers’ Almanac were the only forecasts that called for above-average amounts of precipitation, but they missed out on the temperatures — as did all the other forecasts.”

    1. Well, now you’ve done it! Gregor Robertson may not be aware that the Roberts Bank superport has been shipping massive tonnages of coal for forty-eight years, as it’s at least a 40 minute drive South of his stomping grounds. Now,in a fit of righteous green outrage,Gregor may demand they stop the coal, (hm,that would make a very nice chant for mobs of anti-coal activists,”stop the coal”!!) and further destroy B.C.’s economy. The 470 million bucks the coal port brings to Vancouver each year might have Gregor pause for just a minute, but that small amount of filthy money is easily replaced by tourist dollars as Vancouver is flooded with tourists wanting to experience the highest gas prices in North America.

      1. The article is from February but still relevant, now with Wangcouver prices over $1.60 per litre. From the article, 903,679 vehicles crossed in January, a “low” traffic time of year. Assuming that a huge percentage of those all filled up across the line, 850,000 vehicles, that would have filled up for an average of $70 Canadian, if filled in Canada, with 40% of the fuel cost being taxes, BC and Fed governments LOSE over $23,000,000 a month of tax revenue. Thats over $250,000,000 a year, not exactly chump change.

What’s next, an ENDP Checkpoint Charlie to tax us for American gas purchases? Just wait………………….

On another note, Metro Vancouverites want a tax break from fuel, poor snowflakes. They elect the ENDP and far left mayors of Wangcouver and Burnaby, but they don’t want the same taxation that said mayors LOVE to inflict. Dimwits!

        http://vancouversun.com/news/local-news/daily-poll-should-metro-vancouver-get-a-tax-break-on-gas

Nationally, this figure must approach over $100,000,000 per month, due to excessive taxation, carbon taxes, transit taxes, etc. Governments, stuck on stupid, never realizing or just plain ignorant and arrogant, to their attempted thievery

“Bad books: How Ontario’s new hydro accounting could cost taxpayers billions”

“As Ontarians head to the polls in June, voters have to make sense of two competing versions of their province’s bottom line: The Auditor-General’s and the Kathleen Wynne government’s. Matthew McClearn investigates how creative accounting in hydro revenue made their math so different”

“The IESO had just made a big change to its accounting practices, and Ms. Marshall said she wanted to give the Auditor-General a “heads up.”

“Ms. Lysyk was already well aware of the change.

She and her staff had found the IESO’s latest financial statements online. Poring over them in their downtown Toronto office, they found a terse footnote describing the new accounting policy.

“And my staff go, ‘What the heck is this?’ ” Ms. Lysyk told The Globe and Mail. “You’re not supposed to do this.””

    1. Never trust a Nanos poll. He’s a Liberal pal, and always shows the rosiest poll numbers, from a lib POV.

Still, it is disturbing to see the Libs with apparently solid 35% support. Where are their brains?

  6. I don’t know if many of you are familiar with The Post Millennial. It is a news site that has a conservative/libertarian slant. Here’s a good article by Barbara Kay that appeared today.

Status of Women Canada Paints a Misleading Portrait of Muslim Women

Even before the mosque massacre (a tragedy perpetrated by an unstable, at times delusional individual unaffiliated with any organized hate group), Canadians have been led to believe, not least by our Prime Minister, Canadian Muslims were enduring something approaching a scourge of bigotry.

It was this perception that fueled Motion 103 and its call for more “research” into hate crimes against Muslims. Tapley’s report makes it clear that this research has been done, and that Muslims have no evidence-based claim for a special “Day of Action” or for special treatment in general. In fact, at least where other cultures are concerned, Canadians can take pride in their general level of inclusivity.

That canadians expect and want to pay more money for gas to stop polution.

    1. I cringe every time that guy opens his mouth. He is such a stooge. When will the Liberals figure out that he is not a good leader for them or for the country. I believe he is the weakest Prime Minister we have ever had.

      1. Yes, but apparently at least 35% of the voters like a weak, stuttering, fool as PM. It boggles the mind what the Liberal supporting fools see in dumbfutz soy boy. This is the same group that thought Obongo was dreamy too.

Perhaps the numbers also reflect the weakness that is JagMeat ENDP. His weakness is Soy Boy’s gain

  9. “Victims of Communism Day 2018

May Day is a fitting time to commemorate the tens of millions of victims of this murderous ideology.”

“Today is May Day. Since 2007, I have advocated using this date as an international Victims of Communism Day. I outlined the rationale for this proposal (which was not my original idea) in my very first post on the subject:

May Day began as a holiday for socialists and labor union activists, not just communists. But over time, the date was taken over by the Soviet Union and other communist regimes and used as a propaganda tool to prop up their [authority]. I suggest that we instead use it as a day to commemorate those regimes’ millions of victims. The authoritative Black Book of Communism estimates the total at 80 to 100 million dead, greater than that caused by all other twentieth century tyrannies combined. We appropriately have a Holocaust Memorial Day. It is equally appropriate to commemorate the victims of the twentieth century’s other great totalitarian tyranny. And May Day is the most fitting day to do so….

Our comparative neglect of communist crimes has serious costs. Victims of Communism Day can serve the dual purpose of appropriately commemorating the millions of victims, and diminishing the likelihood that such atrocities will recur. Just as Holocaust Memorial Day and other similar events promote awareness of the dangers of racism, anti-Semitism, and radical nationalism, so Victims of Communism Day can increase awareness of the dangers of left-wing forms of totalitarianism, and government domination of the economy and civil society.”

This tells you a lot about what it was like to grow up in a communist family, even in a not particularly doctrinaire one like mine. We lived in a different world from normal people.”
