    1. You are right. Turns out a real car is much cheaper to operate. Unless you can get free power somewhere.

      Tesla Model 3 Costs More To Charge Than A Gasoline Car

      Investors who take it for granted that electric cars are cheaper to run, need to think again.

      A comparison between Tesla Model 3 and the three leading hybrid cars of calendar year 2018 from Toyota, Honda and Hyundai proves otherwise.

      At the current typical Supercharger price of $0.24 per kWh, a Tesla Model 3 is $0.06 per mile. At the current gasoline price of $2.65, the 50+ MPG hybrids are $0.05 per mile.

      Then you have to add that the Model 3 has at best half the range and takes at least 10-20x as long to recharge that inferior range.

      Of course, the Model 3 also costs twice as much, and you have to assign an approximate $1,000 per year to battery depreciation, alone more than driving on gasoline for a year.

      2. But, but, but … by driving your electric automobile you are polluting OTHER PEOPLE’s neighborhoods with the necessary power generation … not the air over Palo Alto. So cost of operation isn’t the operative impulse for driving electric. It is the transfer of pollution … into poor peoples neighborhoods. THAT is the motivation for caviar eco hippies to drive electric. That, and they HATE the automobile.

    Buying outright a car before seeing it or inspecting it? Test driving it?

  6. Your Tesla is self-driving itself to your garage … isn’t that kewl!? Remember, your Tesla isn’t like your ollllllld gas-powered car … Tesla is really cutting edge technology!! Although … there is a strong probability that your Tesla is burning on a gore point at the Hwy280 exit off Hwy880. The painted shoulder lines have worn off at the exit … causing your Tesla to embed itself in the guardrailing. And you DID know how the battery (your entire car chassis) is highly flammable and burns uncontrollably ? Surely the Sales Associate made mention of that?

    Cal Trans doesn’t have the $$$ to maintain CA Fwys … even WITH the added $0.12/gal. Increased gas tax. Seems there are MORE Cal Trans workers receiving retirement $$$ pensions than there are Cal Trans workers actually working. And Jerry has diverted 70% of the Cal Trans budget to “Light Rail” projects … because Jerry wants you OUT of your car … and onto the choo choo train.
