Peterson’s command of facts, deep understanding of human nature and group behaviour, and wealth of experience with people in need is a reality the SJWs and post modernists cannot deal with. And it rings true to those who listen to him. And gives them something real to anchor too.

    With 3 kids Lindsay’s age, I had three chances to produce a brave, outspoken intellect like Lindsay. Sadly, although they are great kids in their own ways, and they will all be successful in life, I failed. I have no one in my immediate family with which to have a discussion such as this. SAD! At 50, is it too late for a fourth attempt, or should I just live vicariously through the likes of Mark and Lindsay on YouTube?

  7. I find it fascinating that many of the best spokespersons for the right were once left wing. David Horowitz comes to mind. And as a high schooler Jordan Peterson grew up alongside Rachel Notley as an acolyte of her father Grant. I’m sure SDA readers can come up with many more examples.

  9. No offense to Lindsay Shepherd but now that people have brought up Peterson, aren’t he and Steyn an interesting contrast. Steyn is a well-known non-leftist Canadian-ish writer, laugh out loud funny, fascinated with music, movies and Broadway, and his fan base heavily tilts towards women. Peterson is a well-known non-leftist Canadian writer, more serious, fascinated with brain things, and his fan base is mostly male. Opposites or yin yang?
    I like both but I’d have to get the edge to Steyn due to his accent and humor. Steyn sent me free, signed book so I may be biased. The other thing is that Peterson has a subtle anti-woman undercurrent thing that pops up now and again (weird criticism of women with makeup in the workplace, for example). You never feel that with Steyn, he obviously enjoys being around women who display overt femininity.

    I’m sure my parents thought the same thing about me. But there was an intervention in my life. When I was lost and without hope, someone said something very simple to me. “You can know if you are going heaven.” I never heard that before.   12. Heh. Actually, in my experience (some) men can be distracted by women in the workplace regardless of sexy clothes and make-up. I remember being flirted with when wearing grey coveralls, hard hat, ugly safety glasses, steel-toe boots and all exposed skin covered with a fine layer of coal dust and in a lab boring coat complete with a geeky pocket protector filled with notebook, the same ugly safety glasses and pens. Both fun, harmless flirting and the creepy “my eyes are up here” flirty.

    She will come fully across eventually.

  18. As a degree holder in “communications”, Lindsay correctly assigns a significant amount of her noteriety to being a woman. And NOT a “fat, ugly woman”. The same thing is true for every missing child, or murdered woman. It why we all know Kate Seinle’s name by heart … because she was a really attractive woman who was murdered by a multi-illegal alien. Face it (pun intended) … sex sells. Beauty sells. And THAT is what probably terrifies the SJW-class the most. Is that they’ve lost one of their cute ones. They’ve lost someone who literally could have become a really effective “communicator” for their cause(s) … because she’s attractive. But they could NEVER admit such a thing. Because in their world (view) … everything is equal. A fat, unattractive, beast of a woman who lectures about the patriarchy will be taken as seriously as a slender, adorable, waif of a woman who is everymans dream. In one case, the channel gets promptly changed, while viewers linger on the other. Damn that human nature and DNA. Isn’t it time we forced our scientists to engineer ALL the genes in the same order on everyone’s double helix!? So everyone will be equal. We’ve managed to make our Universities a mono-culture, so why not our biology? Let’s make humans from a single curated monoculture of genetic material … THEN … the physical world will have caught up to the Social Justice world.
    PS … the TRUE SJW’s will take note of how Lindsay “prepared” herself for this interview … with bright, slutty, RED lipstick, a new teased-up hairstyle, and white foundation even whiter than Steyn’s rugged oudoorish tan colored skin. She was fabricating herself into the “dream girl” that she instinctively knows Steyn … wanted. Really … really … wanted. “Whore!” “Whore!” … cry the University acolytes at this modern day Hester Prynne. “Whore!” Affix a Scarlet Letter upon her breast! For all to see! Forbid her from access to the Halls of Academia!
    It’s soooooo easy to “play” Leftist when you’ve grown up with them … and know how they think, act, and talk … just like Andrew Breitbart did.

  20. It takes awhile to develop a complete philosophy especially when your constantly bombarded by communists in the school system. I suspect that Lindsay Shepherd is starting to see the reality of the right as the only natural way to deal with life. You need a set of rules, follow them and you will cope when life throws the ball at your head. I’m sounding like Elmer Gantry here….

    Could you provide link to video where he criticizes women wearing makeup in the workplace? I’ve listened to all the videos I’ve found on You Tube and must have missed that one. Oh, and an example of any “subtle anti-woman undercurrent thing” you’ve heard him say.
    I’m a female and seriously doubt I would have missed those, especially since I’ve listened to some of them more than once.

  24. You misconstrued what Peterson said in the infamous Vice.com interview. The discussion in that interviewed turned to the #MeToo movement – ie. women being sexually harassed in the workplace. Peterson then asked the obvious question: If women don’t wish to be viewed as sexual objects in the workplace then why are they wearing make-up and high heels?
    That’s very different from the way you portrayed things.

  25. I saw an interview where Peterson simply floated the question that in times of sexual hyper-sensitivity in the workplace, is it appropriate for women to wear high heels or make-up to work? He merely posed the question as an example of where do ‘they’ set reasonable limits for workplace behavior. He makes an exceptionally damn good point that no reasonable person should be afraid of debating. But then, we see a desperate shortage of reasonable people on the left, don’t we?
    It takes real bigotry to take a positive, honest man such as Peterson and jump directly to false accusations and lies by accusing him of holding a viewpoint that he does not. If you took time to absorb his fair-minded, science-based concepts instead of just hunting for ammo to blast him with, you might actually learn something along with the rest of us.
    I’ve noticed that leftist arsholes also take care not to mention the MULTITUDES of young men who have contacted Peterson with heartfelt gratitude for his guidance and sage advice. Lost young white men that exist STRICTLY because leftarded ideology kicked them to the curb by cruelly labeling them as the cause of every ‘minorities’ perceived troubles.
    As per Steyn, I like his writing style but find his speaking ‘rhythm'(or lack, thereof) distracting.

  26. Sure,Stephen Harper greatly admired Pierre Trudeau,and that admiration got him interested in politics. Harper also greatly admired Liberal PM Sir Wilfred Laurier, though that isn’t saying much as Sir Wilf would be about ten miles to the right of the current Conservatives,and not even on the same planet as the LPC.
    Lots ‘n lots of people are more liberal when they’re young,which is why someone invented that cliche about “no heart” and “no brain”.
    I think it’s part of growing up,some people on the Left are simply victims of arrested development.

  27. First of all, you can agree with the majority of someone’s opinions but still disagree with other parts. Demanding total agreement is what progressives do. I like most of what Peterson says and writes.
    Second, I think Peterson is absolutely wrong on this point. Almost every adult woman in our culture, from the elderly church lady secretary to Supreme Court lawyers to Conservative politicians, wear make-up. It is the social norm and is seen as a personal grooming habit, not a “sexual object” thing. Put it this way, if make-up in the workplace is a sexual sign then it’s a very, very weak one. On a scale of 1-10 it’d be a 1 or 2. How a woman behaves around a man (or men) at work is the most important indicator, a 9 at least. Clothing is somewhere in between.
    It’s not the only thing I’ve noticed. I used to follow Peterson’s twitter feed. A couple of times he rationalized his lack of women subscibers by insinuating it was due to failings of women in general. Steyn goes after femiinists but he genuinely seems to enjoy the company of women, which is probably why he has more female fans. So my opinions on Peterson and women is partly observation and partly gut feeling (intuition?).

  30. Steyn enjoys being feminine. Peterson isn’t anti-woman at all. He REALLY enjoys the company of feminine women. (He is married and faithful).
    Cleopatra invented lipstick, to appear more sexually attractive, so goes the legend. She do not use it on the lips on her face.
    Makeup and high heels are worn to be more sexually attractive. Some women now file harassment complaints if they are complimented on their physical appearance. Are they trying to be sexually attractive? Yes they are. Yet they file a complaint when they attract someone that they are not attracted to.
    This is about evolutionary biology and facts, not women hating.
